- I don't think you all are ready for this EPIC interview with Shannon Lee! It was an extreme honor to be invited to the Bruce Lee office to interview the CEO of the Bruce Lee Family Companies, President of the Bruce Lee Foundation, and daughter of Bruce Lee. Shannon has been on my bucketlist of dream interviews for quite some time now due to the impact Bruce Lee has had on my family and particularly with my father.
We go into a deep-dive of who Bruce Lee was, in addition to talking about identity, her upcoming Warrior TV series (launching April 5th), Quentin Tarantino's movie, and what it means to keep up the family legacy.
So grab some popcorn and a drink because this interview is about to be the most in-depth interview ever about Shannon Lee and the impact Bruce Lee had in the world.

I was a introvert in 1974 growing up in the South Bronx, all that changed when Bruce Lee came on the seen. You had little Black Chinese Bruce Lee's wannabes walking around including me. We tried to talk like him, walk like him, we bought uniform and didn't even know anything, but maybe our Bruce Lee screams when we get into our Bruce Lee stands would help us in a fight, uh sometimes it worked and shit it hurted when it didn't.
Anyway thanks to your family for helping change the world.

I was 24 years old when your father death came across my TV set. I was sad to tears because I have followed him from the Green Hornet mid 1960 years. I’m so happy you keep your father and brother Legacy alive.

Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee are both wonderful men. I am thankful for Linda and Shannon Lee for sharing their memories and stories with us all. I remember the 1st time I watched a Bruce Lee movie. It was back in the 80s. That was the 1st time I learned about Bruce Lee and I have been hooked ever since that day. I still enjoy talking about and learning about the legacy of the man.

Still hard to believe that Bruce lee is dead. He was just so ahead of his time and everyone and it's still been no one like him or even come close to Bruce lee. I've been a Bruce lee fan since I was 12 years old and I'm 31 now. Just hard to believe how great he still is.

Bruce Lee was truly a man with a mission. He was able to complete most of the achievements at such a young age that most ppl would have taken their entire life to complete them.
He was also lucky , around 1970 the kung fu boom started with Chinese Boxer so Lee prolly had a hunch that this kung fu thing would be the next spaghetti western , trends come and go

Her Dad is a great philosopher ..His life faced so many adversaries in his excursion. But,he used his mind profusely in a positive way. Such a comet of energy. I look at one of his quotes everyday of my life at this point. He wrote: Defeat is a state of mind. That's all I will write from this quote out of respect to her father's work. But that's how it starts. He's so correct about that .He expounded on that a lot more. But, I would expect that you all look it up. It's written the quote on a large poster with Bruce Lee's images. I look at it every morning. The quote is quintessential for anyone going through this matrix called life.

The Lee Family have made the world a better place for those who can appreciate their contributions.
An interesting thing about memories, I once read an article about a woman who knew she was about to die soon from Cancer and she wondered how... if at all her young kids would remember her. Her Therapist told her "they won't remember what you said and they won't remember what you did, but they will remember how you made them feel". That's sort of how she's describing her connection to her Father.
A great man--truly a multi-dimensional, creative genius. He has always been a great source of life inspiration. Thank you for this interview.

Shannon is taking control with an iron fist over all operations of her father's legacy and I respect her for that. Noone should have a say on what is being published about bruce without family's consent. Met Shannon and Linda Lee twice and they are class acts and have spent most of their lives perseving the lessons bruce has left for us to discover. Hats off to them and thank you for the bruce lee store and everything you have done to keep my idol alive. Maybe not alive for nothing can erase him and his accomplishments but continuing and expanding on his unknown approaches to everyday life. Great interview, this duo had such great chemistry and connection to the universe. Happy to hear more about Shannon herself. It would have been nice to hear about Brandon as well. Totally enjoyed the 35 minutes.
Bruce Lee was a legend of course. But I think his wife is an incredible woman!! She raised her children so well. Both Shannon and Brandon are/were such lovely, decent and well adjusted people. I've watched Brandon Lee interviews; he was just an extraordinary human being! He was beautiful inside and out, he was very bright, very charming and poised. Shannon is a beautiful woman who is a fantastic human being, who has remained so honest and true to looking after both the affairs and legacies of both her father and brother. I could go on and on. . . Thank you Bruce for all your hard work and talent and leaving us with so many memories. Thank you Linda for being such a great mother and role model to your children. her favorite quote is the one that hit me like a ton of bricks - when i lost my faith in christianity cuz i was so dark and filled with hate after experiencing a lot of racism in high school as an asian - 20+ years later looking back- im really deep into asian philosophy taoism buddhism and that sort of thing all stemming from that exposure to bruce lees book and of course i also dedicated all my free time to mixing martial arts trying to be bruce lee - its really cool to hear shannon loves that quote i have actually never talked about that quote with anyone

I have great respect and appreciation for Shannon Lee for her own incredible work and presence. She herself represents and expresses the timeless truths that personified Bruce Lee’s life and greatness. Bruce Lee expressed himself far beyond any ethnicity. He inspired people the world over to recognize their own power and ability. I personally get a little disappointed when his legacy is sometimes claimed by a specific group. I appreciate that Ms. Lee makes a point to be strong guardian of her father’s legacy and how it’s presented. The principles of Bruce Lee’s life are are timeless and universal. Be Water, My Friend is a great book.

What Nicki Sun says at the beginning is very important.
With each passing decade, Bruce Lee fanboys inflate Bruce Lee's legend to mythic proportions about his fighting prowess. It's common to see hyperbolic statements like, "Bruce Lee was the greatest fighter ever. No one could beat him".
I think what is far more important is that Bruce Lee gave pride not only to Asians but African-Americans, Hispanics, Eastern Europeans and every other group who felt repressed. He defied race and culture. He was just a bad ass, hero that every guy wanted to be.
Secondly, he is still the greatest ambassador and diplomat for martial arts of all time. He is synonymous with martial arts.
A handful of random people across the world might recognize names like Jackie Chan, Chuck Norris or historical martial arts figures like Wong Fei Hong, Miyamoto Musashi, Yip Man, or Jigoro Kano. To modern martial artists like Royce Gracie, George St Pierre, or Conor McGregor.
But people all over the world will still say "Bruce Lee" if they had to name one martial artist and this even over 45 years since he passed away. I think that was his greatest gift to humanity.
