Great job. I will always treasure the memories of our drives from Denver to Michigan and Wisconsin, and the appreciation you built in me for the Big Boy.

This kit was originally released in the 1980s by Monogram as a “Snap-Tite” kit. They did a Union Pacific version, and also (with very minor detail variations) they offered fictional B&O and DM&IR versions. In real life both the DM&IR and the B&O had 2-8-8-4 types, but only the UP had the 4-8-8-4 “Big Boy” type.
Monogram also produced a Snap-Tite New York Central 4-6-4 Hudson a few years earlier, also with fictional variants lettered for the Santa Fe and the Chessie Steam Special. The Santa Fe had 4-6-4s in reality, but the model was clearly a NYC locomotive. The real Chessie Steam Special was pulled by a Reading T-1 4-8-4.

Ahh that makes sense that it was released originally as a snap-tite kit
