If him being killed at 15 was such a big deal, why exactly did Athrun let him fight? He was the commander, so he could’ve ordered Nicol to stay behind. I’d say Athrun’s to blame since he apparently lets whoever wants to join in on active combat while still thinking that there’s somehow a 0% chance of them dying.

GS and GSD uses this frequently, and I think it's really dumb. I get if it's like SD, but a huge mech should behave like a mech, and not a human.
It's so weird seeing Freedom and Justice behaving like a human; By glancing, looking at each other, tapping, etc. Even though their pilots are speaking through their cockpit mic/camera. SEED EP 38 and 39 is the best example.

@@algernonilfracombe shouldn't the Strike be disintergrated after got hit by a positron cannon? Mu's floating helmet was in the original. No one should have survive that.
I was talking about the editing of this Kira/Nicol fight scene but you're right too... that retcon was one of the dumbest bits of Seed Destiny, in a competitive field. Still, I guess he does make the impossible possible...@@Joshua_N-A
This cutscene even maintained Kira swinging at the Blitz (from the original).

I love how they go by the first version, Kira did kill him but once he hears he just slashed a kid he hesitated.

@@hiddenmaster6062 plus it's like a self reflex, kinda like how we always assume to protect our face or body when we suddenly get in shock from a sudden attack / suprise. So yeah Kira still is the killer, even if he didnt meant it.
Unlike remaster ver where it makes as if Nicol thrust into Strike's sword on purpose, and Kira was more like dunno what to do against Blitz.

You can blame Star Wars for setting that standard for sci-fi works involving them. Though without it, it would not be very "dynamic" to display.
Aegis is technically a heat blade on this case, since it originally had claws on that area

You know, now that I think about it, why didn't Nicol use his beam saber instead?
He took the time to grab a lancer dart from the Trikeros, so why didn't he just take the beam saber, which we know is detachable(since the HG and NG 1/100), and take a weapon that does JACK against PHASE-SHIFT ARMOR?
Beam saber attach to shield, which was severed and will be part of Astray Gold Frame.
@@lordalpharius5928 when that arm was severed, ALL three Lancer Darts were still on the shield.
And the Beam Saber was detachable, too. So why go for a Lancer Dart, when the Beam Saber would be more effective?
tbh I think it was just a last ditch attempt or a last charge, any sane pilot would use a saber/rifle on those occasions but yet he uses those spikes, I think at that point he just wants to be dead

Yeah for real though, Phase Shift armor is literally immune to all kinetic damage unless the armor lost its power, so Nicol using the dart here is just a brain-fart moment
it's it's so good, if only GS remake is like this. If this is mixed by the scenes inside cockpit, it'll be very good

But the most accurate depiction of that is definitely Thunderbolt. Seed and Destiny mainly focuses on one side(good one/neutral party) is Eternal/orb. While ZAFT and the other party as the bad guys

That ver make it as if Nicol tripped into Strike's sword on purpose. Meanwhile in the original (here) Kira accidentally killed him out of reflex, so Athrun's guilt towards Kira makes more sense in here cuzz Kira was the one who does the deed instead of a mere accident.

lol in here Kira swung it, but in the anime he lowered it due to reflex memory and Nicol charged the big ass blade to his cockpit
Actually, that only happens in the "remastered" version.
The game takes the one from the original broadcast version of the scene, where Kira actually kills Nicol in self-defense

At this point Kira is already hesitating to kill a person and with Nicol suddenly appearing, Kira reacted fast before suddenly realizing what he was about to do thus he stopped short.
Kira had a lot of issues after they entered earth considering he is suddenly drafted into a war.
Kira at that time was just a civilian who had been forced to be in military. Killing people is not his profession unlike Athrun and Nicole who drafted in military whole time
