I wonder if the bias circuit resistors (wire wound inside) are generating an inductance that is effecting the input tune? To me that explains the swr dipping with modulation because the inductance they generate changes with modulation/rf output bringing the tune in and out because the inductance value changes under load ? . I've been warned against using wire wound resistors in RF tuned circuits because they are also inductors. I have also been warned about using disk capacitors because of piezoelectricity they can generate in RF tuned circuts . Disk caps can act like microphones and oscillate causing a circuit to fall out of tune . So add the both together and now you can't tune a circuit who's required tuning parameters change with RF level change . In conclusion I assert the wrong type of resistors in the bias circut and the use of disk caps in tuned circuts have become common accepeted mal practice. My opinion . Open to being convinced otherwise. 73

That's the whole point of memorializing a date inside the amplifier. Nothing to assume then.
