Nice test Jonathan! The '68 is sweeter and less nasal than the Sire to my ears. The V7's bridge pickup placing seems to exacerbate that almost 'out of phase' sound with both pickups combined. In a more busy backing track with additional instrumentation that nasally tone might poke through better or be slightly tamed. I'd certainly not refuse either bass if I had the chance!

Fun video, the Fender definitely sounded nicer. I will say that the other bass sounded very great for what it is. Very similar surprisingly.

Agree. Yeah, the aged wood definitely gives it more character. I don’t want to return this ‘68 jazz!
