Shaping starts with installing and flattening the top edge while the side are still square. That way you have another 'flat' surface to reference and support the sides when applying pressure with a flat sanding board.
Kerfing is installed with Titebond glue and rough profiles with a saw and plane. The 15' back arch is transferred with two arched skis and and refined with a sanding dish that has a 15' concave surface.
The side braces serve to stabilize and isolate any cracks to the sides if the instrument is dropped or knocked about down the line. They are spruce and attached with hot hide glue.
Next up joining the top and bracing!!!
Hit me up with questions in the comments.
