Don't know why but I always loved the simplistic style of AtariSoft's packaging. Granted I didn't have Galaxian for the ColecoVision but I had both Defender and Centipede and they both looked great.
Galaxian is such an awesome game. There's just something so timeless about the gameplay. I do like the ship design better in galaxian vs galaga too. Great video Willie! 🍻
Atari was smart to finally decide to port their exclusive titles to other platforms under the Atarisoft banner. Around the same time Mattel was doing the same thing under their "M Network" banner. At that time, when the big three were the Atari 2600, Intellivision and Colecovision, the Colecovision almost always had the best version of arcade ports. It's too bad that the Adam system bombed and they got out of the video game business altogether because it would have been interesting to see what a Colecovision II would have been like.
@@mortenera2294 Possibly. I checked wikipedia to see if there were any details on what a CV2 would look like if it had been made but I couldn't find anything. If they were shooting for backward compatibility that might have presented a problem because as far as I know Texas Instruments never made a successor to the video chip (also used in the TI 99/4 and 4a) that was backward compatible. But I think they could have come up with something. After all, none of the future Atari 8 bits were backwards compatible with the 2600.
@@mortenera2294 I didn't find anything on the ColecoVision 2 on wikipedia, but lo and behold look what shows up on my recommended videos list!: ua-cam.com/video/NalbEZ3e0R0/v-deo.html
Good video! Atarisoft made some of they're games for other systems, from Colecovison, to Intellivsion and Commmodore 64 computers and IBM PC too, I believe! Always liked this game! Fun!
This is an outstanding Colecovision game. It's Jedi tough too! I always imagine I'm Luke Skywalker in this game! Getting in the zone where every shot is landing is exhilarating! Playing this one with a standard controller hurts so bad after about 5 minutes. Brutal! There are some arcade hacks like Turbo Galaxian that look interesting. I haven't been able to find the correct hack roms though.
Heh, I always liked this port of the game... it's better than the 5200 version by a mile. But looking at it now, I realize how they made the bi-colored characters in the formation! They drew them with tiles instead of sprite graphics, didn't they? When they fall out of formation they become single colored sprites! That's really clever. I wouldn't have thought of that.
I played Galaxian arcade every Sunday night when my parents were bowling. Good times.
A very solid version of the game. Love Galaxian, have a Sega Galaxian cocktail cabinet (that I am restoring).

It would've probably been similar to the Master System

Whenever I hear the beginning of The Who's "Baba O'Riley" it makes me think of the opening sounds of Galaxian.

The blue Galaxians are doing the Can Can!
Never knew this came put for ColecoVision...Too bad because this was one of my favs growing up! 👍🙏
the game looks really great on the colecovision to bad the hit detection was really bad, the death at 5:12 there was no missile anywhere near you.
No. I just went and played it for an hour looking for any bad hit detection. The game is spot on. Video is bad at capturing everything.
Yep, never claimed to be a professional video maker :)
@@SVT512 don't change a thing with your vids lol.

Your voice is very entertaining. You sound like Yogi Bear's cousin or something. Lol ;)
Hey booboo, lets get some picinik baskets....
I need to get the multicart. I only have about 50 games for Colecovision.
Heh..."only"...
50 is close to half the library.
