My twin brother died from cancer. I was the last person to be with him all day while we waited for him to pass. I couldn’t stay awake that night so the staff told me I could lay down in the room next to his and rest. I fell in a deep sleep and the staff woke me up at 4:40am and told me he passed. I felt he was with me in the car as I drove home. Three days later he came to me in a dream. He was wearing his favorite outfit (we bought the hat and sweater vest). I ran up to him crying (I could feel the tears on my face) and told him that I missed him so much! And he said “I know, I know”. He was comforting me and letting me know he was ok.

Patricia, that is a beautiful though sad story. It's so amazing that you felt his presence & that he came to visit you. You saw your brother in his favorite outfit & he comforted you... amazing. I had a similar experience when my cousin who was like my best friend in the world passed away. I had a dream that she was calling me, and she told me it was okay. That gave me so much comfort even to this day, 20 years later. Also, had another dream where she was sitting on this sofa w/ other young people in their 20's also... just hanging out in a heavenly type living room.

My mom died from brain cancer in her home. I didn't have the greatest relationship with her, I bawled every time I seen her sick in bed for months. Could not even stand to see her.(I don't do well with death bed situations) I never visited her.😢 well, after she passed away, I had a dream of my mom telling me goodbye in every stage of my life with her. As an infant she was holding me and telling me I'm always be loved, as a child she was playing with me and told me how much she loved me, as a teenager we cuddled in bed and she told me she was sorry and she loved me. As an adult in my dream, she hugged me tight told tell me she loved my children and she'll miss me . I didn't even have enough balls to go to her funeral services.. even though I knew my mom was going to pass from cancer, it shook me to my core it's been a few years and I still can't think about that dream without crying.

@@HUX8075I really believe your mom came to tell you she was sorry and she loves you. It's ok to not have the balls to go to a funeral, no matter who it is. She loves you and she will be waiting to see you when that time comes. She will be with you in your kids in your lives. I truly believe this if that is any comfort to you. And your reaction is ok, it's all ok ❤❤❤❤

I just got nightmares when my mom died. Almost like I was talking to her corpse, animated by something diseased and evil. I still get the occasional nightmare 19 years later. I'm guessing she didn't go to the good place.

When I was 10 I knew my gma died before the family called to notify us. I was going to sleep and had a dream about it. It was soo real that I woke up crying and told my mom that GMA died. Literally while she was trying to calm me down and convince me that is was just a dream, we got a call from my uncle letting us know that GMA had passed.

The mom who just gave birth to her baby and there was a ghost in the room reminds me of when I had my daughter.
I hadn’t slept in days, I finally had gotten a chance to go take a nap in my room with her while she was napping. I laid down and somewhere in between asleep and not asleep these three witch looking women were standing around us trying to take my baby from me. I was trying to fight back but I couldn’t move. It was terrifying. I remember being able to finally move and I never ever slept in that room again with her. We actually had a house fire there a month or so later and couldn’t live there anymore so we moved.
I had found out later too it was an old folks home before we moved in. And it was on native tribal land

When i gave birth to twins, i was already sleep deprived since 7th month pregnancy, as babies were larger than usual. At the third or fourth night after giving birth , i saw someone was dragging me from bed towards ceiling. I could see whole room from top, my 2 babies in crib, my mom on bed sleeping. I had muffled screams i remember. I was screaming 'Mom!!!', from top of my lungs but somehow she couldn't hear... It was scary to experience how our brain can act after being practically sleepless

My grandmother "died" in a nursing home and she was revived after 15 minutes. Just alive enough for life support, my dad made the call to pull the plug and it was just me and him. 12/21/2016 was the day this happened. I never felt alone after that, her first great-grandchild was 3 months old, and she only got to meet her once. The night of the 24th when I fell asleep I had a dream. She was letting me know it was time to go and I had to let her go. I was holding onto her so hard. She wouldn't let me go with her. I woke up Christmas morning in tears and so confused. She was making me let her go and she wouldn't take me too, she was saying goodbye. My Christmas gift was having to watch her die and watch her go home. I wish I could be as sure as she always was about the afterlife, I hope she's okay and she's still safe and happy. I don't think I'll ever recover from that loss. I'm nearing the end of my first trimester with her 2nd great-grandchild and I want to think she's still watching over us. She has my angel baby up there, stepping up to care for him or her just as she did for me.
I have very little faith, but I do have faith I will see her again. When my family turned on her when she got sick, she still had me, and now she's gone, and I'm still here.
Sorry this was so long, I know it's unlikely anyone will read this far or have any care for a strangers dead meemaw, but if you made it this far, send up a prayer for Nancy.

When I was a CNA a few years ago. I was working night shift in a home for the disabled. Around 3am a toy piano started playing music and then a toy phone said "you have a message" it kept repeating that. Remind you all of my residents were asleep. Anyways I was to chicken to turn it off because the toys were all put away. So my co worker went over there to turn it off. Well it was turned off... better yet we went to take the batteries out and their were no batteries😭 I literally was afraid for the rest of my shift and literally turned on all my poor residents lights when I went into their rooms😂 oh and we ended up throwing the toy in the dumpster.

Kinda related; an uncle of mine died 2 weeks ago after falling from a ladder and hitting his head. He was kept in a coma (but clinically dead) while waiting for the organs procurement go. When his family finally gave the okay on the night of September 30th, I was 2 hours away, chilling at home, listening to music and my radio turned off by itself. Mind you, I had this radio for almost 25 years and never had that problem with it. Being a believer in the paranormal, I quickly realized this was probably my uncle's doing, because when you turn off my radio "Good bye" appears on its screen. I think that was sweet of him. :)

I think that since more and more people are disbelieving in the spiritual world, or the soul, or the after life, or anything that they cannot see,
they aren’t scared by ghosts or lost souls or wayward spirits or demons, etc..
People like that only know to be afraid of psychos with chainsaws and torture, etc.
Hence why it’s gotten so graphically violent instead of more spooky

    • @spiralrose
      @spiralrose 11 місяців тому

If people don’t believe in the spiritual world or spirits or ghosts, etc. they’re not going to be afraid because why be afraid of what isn’t real?
So we get murderous cannibals and blood baths now, and the spooky demonic movies that we are offered today all follow very boring formula that people are tired of.
If people were truly afraid of ghosts and demons in mainstream culture, the movies using them would be a lot deeper, thought-provoking and disturbing

Hi John, i saw my father 3 days before he passed away. I distinctly heard gods voice say, " he hasn't got long". I found him on the kitchen floor 3 days later. He had started to bloat, had some skin slippage on his face, black and blue bruises. His body was autopsied, i went to the funeral home and asked to be able to look after my father myself. I knew it would be the last time I could hold his hand, spend time eith his body. Its hard to let go of the physical body. I washed the blood out of his hair and cleaned his body after his autopsy. I dressed him in a suit and we put him in his coffin, which my children and i decorated. A week after his funeral i dreamed that i was with my father at the funeral home, i looked at him and he opened his eyes!!.
I woke up and instantly felt like he was ok and still with me.

Not a nurse, but love listening to your podcast. I look forward to fridays! You also are really encouraging and have helped me learn to just take a step back and take care of myself. Wether it be mentally, emotionally, physically, etc. I am a teacher and boy could I tell you some stories 😂 sometimes it’s not the kids that are crazy, it’s the parents and their juicy drama/ stuff they bring into the classroom. 😂😭 I could go on and on. Even though I am not a nurse, but I feel like we both put up with crap and do not get paid enough for the crap we do!
on another note I love my students like they are my babies! And I have two babies of my own. ❤ currently taking a break from teaching,so I can pour all of my energy and love to my babies at home.
Some short stories from teaching: I had parents kissing and hooking up with not their significant others, but a different students parents in the parking lot. 😳 either they did not realize we could see them still or they just didn’t care of their little scandal.
I had a co worker boyfriend cheat on her with one of her students mom. Yikes! During pick up she almost faught the mom! It was this big mess!
I have had students bring some crazy stuff for show N tell, I honestly don’t know why these parents do not help them pick something. One time a student brought her moms “dirty 30” photo book to school. Safe to say we did not let that student show it for show N tell, but us teachers were looking at the pictures during rest time. 😂 also, one student brought a vibrator to school for show N tell and said it was a toy. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️
And don’t even get my started on the flirtatious dads during drop off or pick up. 🚩 some are good looking and some just look like bums. 😂 but dam no shame they do it in front of their kid and I feel so bad for the wives or girlfriends at home. I never acted on anything, but I can’t say the same for my co workers. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I guess you can say they were teaching their future “step children”
I have also had some sad things happen while teaching. I have had students come to school hungry, In over sized clothes or too small clothes that were dirty or they smelled. And some students that came to us teachers saying a family
Member was touching/hurting them. Won’t get into details, but it is very heartbreaking and I would come home crying sometimes. Just worrying and not being able to sleep wondering if they were okay. We of course follow protocol and call CYFD, but there is not much that we can do after that. Sometimes parents will be upset that we reported them and pull their kids out, and these cases would keep me up at night because I would always wonder if they were okay or what became of it. I’ve even had students tell us what their dad would do to their mom. And that’s why they did not sleep at night because they were scared. My co workers and I would buy those kids clothes or hair products to help them. My checks would go into the classroom for supplies or things for my babies that they needed and their parents couldn’t or wouldn’t get. Safe to say teachers already don’t get paid enough, then I was spending my check in the classroom. I have no regrets and love to help and see the kids smile. I’m definitely a teacher not because of the pay, but because I love what I do. And I love to care for these children and help shape their future. I love seeing them when they are older and they still remember me and run up to hug me- it makes me feel like I did my job that I was supposed to do for them. ❤
Also, I have worked at places where the boss was very understanding and at some places where it was very toxic. One time I had a boss that told my co worker she should have scheduled her surgery to get her gallbladder stones removed for December when we are on winter break. But she needed it done within like a week because if not it could become potentially deadly. And December was 3 months away. I use to be scared to call in even if I was dying and sick or if my little one was sick because I knew I was going to be in for a lecture and slapped in the face with paper work and deadlines, but I’m glad myself and my other co workers left! I could go on and on, but I won’t take up any more of your time. Thank you for sharing you’re personal experience and letting us know we’re not alone out here and we all have to put up with the same shitty stuff in this world to! We Just got to “keep on swimming”

I once worked in a ward unit very close to the hemodialysis unit. Like our nurse's station is literally a few inches away from the entrance of the unit. I don't know in other countries, but in the Philippines, most hd units have this huge glass doors, like mall doors, where you can see everything from the outside. Since we're not a big hospital, our hd unit is only open for 9am-6pm. Before it gets dark, the nurses from the ward unit would always cover the hd unit doors with hospital dividers, the ones they use to "provide privacy" if you're in a ward or non-private room.
Then it's my turn to work in graveyard shift. During the wee hours of the night, I kid you not, the HD machines started beeping. Me and my co-worker kinda brushed it off since there are still a few hours left before daybreak and work ain't over until we're finished endorsing it to the incoming shift.
We asked the senior ward and hd nurses about it. They said that the hd machines boots automatically in the morning. But why not all the machines? And an automatic reboot in 3am?
And oh, before it actually was an HD unit they said it was an ICU unit, but they changed it because there are patients that can't pay their hospital bills after. And HD unit apparently makes more profit for the hospital.

I think sometimes they see the person standing or laying in the spot where they died because the persons death made an imprint on the environment.
It’s not so much a phantom as it is a recording on the environment
The spirit might show itself later, but for that moment, if it’s replaying over and over without change, it’s not conscious and it’s not really a ghost… It’s an echo

I've heard of this theory too. E.g. it's like if the walls and the dampness in that spot act like a recorder.

11:40 the first time I had to do this (my lola's funeral), I was a dumb 11 year old kid who actually thought we had to STEP ON the burning guava leaves and not over them. I was looking around confused asking why my mama and aunties were yelling at me, like, I thought you said I had to step on it? 😅
Let's just say there were deffinitely no random ghosts/spirits following me home that day.😅😂

    49:50 (I agree with you)
But, here's the thing. Before my grandfather died, I remember him sleeping on his bed and then every single time he would call his mom and his dad and his brother's names (they're all dead) and that's the sign for us that he was near to his end.
And I will 100% agree with you when you said that you could hear a sound (like someone was walking on the roof and it was freaking every single night) but it was not about a pregnant woman that they were up to because there's no pregnant in the family but I would say that they were up to with my grandfather. You know we believe on monster's who eats people especially if they knew that person is going to die soon and the smell of that dying person smells good for them and they were trying to get my grandfather but my aunt was just a bad ass and shouted to that monster and tell that monster to get the fuck out of our roof before she kills him instead😅. Literally, every single night someone would walk on our roof and when my frandfather died, there were no walking sounds on our roof anymore. It's so weird.

Ghosts in hospitals are so common it’s not even funny. I mean honestly as an energy worker who goes and clears homes I am buffled why they don’t call us to bless places like hospitals, schools etc. With hospitals especially the situation is insane with spirit activity. People die and are birthed there plus all the fear people have as patients or the sadness etc. And usually corporations go and build such places upon consecrated land without knowing. Our planet has so much history. We need more healers who can go and clear places while honoring the past so the future can flourish. A lot of people see hauntings as something romantic but I say no, you don’t want interference of any kind in your space especially in places where people go to heal and spend time anaesthetised etc. Let’s hope society starts to acknowledge that there is an “other side” some of us can see and work with for the greatest good of all.

🦋 About the butterfly, we went to the funeral venue after my grandma passed away. where I spotted a black butterfly in the resting room.
A few days before her passing, I also saw a butterfly in our house, when my grandma was being treated in the hospital. On some days, some random butterfly will visit our house once in a while.
Quite an interesting experience. I just took it as a positive affirmation she was sending signs to me that she is in peace.

41:35 - not a nurse thing at all but my family has a successful funeral business and a few funeral homes, one of which I lived in on weekends when I visited my dad. It was normal to have bodies in the house for a funeral, but one time, for some reason or another this man’s body has to stay inside the house, open casket, overnight. Allllll night. Which WASNT normal. I was trying to be respectful and not look at him, but he was right there, open casket and everything, in the room that’s only separated from the rest of the house by a door and a small hallway (with the SCARIEST BATHROOM IN IT I might add.) So ALL night I couldn’t sleep because I was more scared than I’d ever been in my life that I would look up and see this dead man standing right at my bedroom door. Definitely something I’ll never forget. No ghosts or supernatural, just the horrors of real life - and death.

Yep I heard about that forest in Japan. It was close to the bnb we stayed at near Mt. Fuji by Kawaguchico onsen. My cousin happened to drive us past that forest and told us about the crazy and dark stuff that went on in that forest. Curious teens or young adults wanting to explore that forest never come out alive. It was absolutely creepy! It so happened there was a small graveyard behind the bnb we rented. Thankfully, one of my aunts and her husband crashed our place during that night. There were two huge bedrooms. The boys slept in one bedroom while me, my sister, tita and tito, and my niece slept in the bigger room on futton beds. And at the end of that bedroom is an open closet, which according to my tito's freaky telltale, is a space where typically the owner of the Japanese home places the urn of a deceased loved one. Go figure. None of us couldn't sleep because we were so spooked out. Going to the bathroom middle of the night we had to huddle lol! It was terrifying.

Halloween seeming disrespectful from your perspective of The Day of the Dead celebrations, is because Halloween is based in a Celtic celebration called Samhain. Samhain is the day of the year that the veil between our world and the Otherworld (not just the realm of the dead, but also the realm of the fae/fairies) is thinnest. It predates Christian celebrations, and wasn't ever mainly about respecting dead ancestors or family. It was about interacting with, avoiding, or appeasing the denizens of the Otherworld.

    Hi John.
What you said about purgatory made me think about a theory I have.
I think being sent to Purgatory is like being sent to your bedroom as a kid after you do something wrong, like throw a tantrum or break something.
You see God forgives, but that doesn’t mean you’re getting out of the consequences of your actions.
I think that God sent us to Purgatory the way, a loving father census to our bedrooms to teach us how to behave and that doing bad things brings bad things.
After our punishment is over, and God realizes that we have learned from our mistakes in the past life
Then he takes us to Heaven.
You know, as well as I do that they are good people in this world who have done terrible things for one reason or another.
They thought they were doing the right thing at the time or maybe they thought they were doing all that they could do with what they had.
I think that it takes some especially heinous, and far reaching evil hearts combined with evil actions to get sent to hell.
You know what I mean, actions that your average messed up human being could not conceive of.
Like Hitler and his inner circle.
    What do you think John?
    Of my theory I mean
