Agreed. I don’t like it now. I prefer the RSC SMG over it. It makes me play more cautiously, because it’s not a high capacity metal pissing machine. I used to do very well with the 08 post TTK pre apocalypse. I cleared a flag on operations with it and had a nice 14 killstreak going. It was my go to assault weapon but now it’s just.. I was disappointed when I tried it after the patch.

I genuinely miss the old SMG 08/18. I liked having an SMG that worked like an LMG, and it was one of my favorite SMGs.

It was a good weapon that only needed a muzzle velocity buff to compete at medium to long range.
I used it after the TTK patch and it felt so amazing.
But one week later, all the fun is ruined and taken away...
Support isn't meant to go against vehicles and the SMG08 wasn't quite like an LMG.
Is it just me, or did I like this gun before the patch. Probably just me.
Aiden Freese nah, was my go to weapon for the assault class, it wasn‘t overused and it was a nice change of pace, i loved how it was before
Agreed 100%, this killed it's near perfect medium range engagement distance. Something, in my opinion, the assault class needed badly. BUT, DICE shot that to hell and now we have great UA-camrs like this touting it is the "best gun" or is "now amazing". smh
What DICE should do:
Make the original variants 450RPM again and make a third, Sweeper variant with 770RPM.

Shame that I really liked this weapon before it was given a buff it didn't at all need. Now this gun is the choice of all the Hellriegel tryhards and other sweaty assults.

It was really neat before. No recoil, good range. It was a good change of pace for assault class.
Quintui Disoro I liked it mainly because I prefer slower firing guns with manageable recoil. Even before this buff I was able to easily chain kills and do well in close to medium range.
I agree with both the people above, i always like guns with slower rate of fire, good recoil control, and are able to kill from a short to medium range, that's why i really like the Chauchat from the Support class.
Lol no it was terrible at range the thing that makes the lmgs good is that the longer you fire them the more accurate they get but since this is an smg it didn't have the same damage drop off or accuracy an actual LMG has

Runered now the RSC is very easy to play
Pirulo Sagace As long as you hit yes, it is. But it has a very small mag, so you can't miss. It's very rewarding but high skilled though.

It really isn't high skill, it's better than some bolt action rifles. It two shots up to around 70m, has 6 bullets and is semi-automatic. Before it was high skill, because that two shot range was pretty close up, now you can easily outperform scouts.

Guns this easy to use aren’t fun to play with, I like running around flanking with my lil frommer stop auto. It makes you feel more accomplished when you do good and actually helps you get better at the game. SKILL GUNS > noob guns

On PC , if you know how to control recoil and don't play on a cancer high sens , then rof > high damage low rof gun
This was a good weapon before anyways. This has been my go to Assault weapon when the Russian DLC was release.
Agree with SMG08, wouldn't call it 'the best gun' (No gun is really). Its awful post 15m or so.
Comment on the Model 10 hunter made me pause the video haha. The best shotgun to date? Ugh, Bad Company 2 pump action cancel slug rounds from across the map on all kits.... or BF4 with its silly 20m OHK 870.

Autoloading 8.35 is the best gun.

There is a difference between what was "used", and what "existed". No military in their right mind would have issued any of the sub-machine guns in this game aside from the MP18i. They'd all suffer reliability issues, and be way too expensive to produce. The "creative liberties" DICE has made often become the meta of the game, so we have players running around with guns that were never used, or are being used improperly. BF1 isn't really a WW1 game as much as it is a WW1 themed Battlefield game.

Assault class = playing the game on easy mode
But you can help you team and be more effective take out tanks,cap flags and play extra aggressive
It's still by far the easiest class to play. Going 60 - 5 with a Hellriegel is easier than going like 30 - 10 using the Medic class
It was a unnecessary buff but I'm not complaining.

It wasn't shit, it had a longer ttk, but had no recoil. It was a good gun at medium range.
I kinda wish this gun hadn’t been so drastically changed. I enjoyed using it as a more slow-firing, sustained fire weapon for Assault at medium range, especially with the AA sights

glad dice has turned bf1 from a somewhat skilled rifle based game to a spam-fest of over the top lmg/smgs in just the span of a few weeks. if you run anything but lmgs and smgs now, you put yourself at an enormous disadvantage in most situations.

I'm so sad that dice is appealing more to the casual audience and giving us so many fast firing weapons when in reality, this shit didn't exist, you casual players are ruining this game for me and a lot of other players.

I usually play hardcore and run with the m.95 scout a lot more bolt action rifles are used and is a little more realistic

I feel like the WW1 Soldiers of BF1 are the type of people that would slurp on some noble scotch / red wine before sotorming the next enemy trench. One of the medics always nicely asks ,,wheather you would give him permission to heal your wounds" Just imagine getting half your leg torn of by a anti tank granade and have someone like that as a medic.

Hipfire and explosions are what fucked this game up. At least the time to kill is better now.
Before the buff the Hellriegel was pretty much the only viable option for a jack of all trades assault gun. Other weapons have either too slow a fire rate to be used as SMGs, or too short a range like the Automatico. BF4 still has a little bit of everything there's never really a gun that EVERYONE uses because its the only one that doesnt suck.

@@callumbennett2013 I became a fan of the ACE 21 Galil in BF4 and it more or less became a go to of mine.
Its a good all round, do everything carbine. But the point still stands that BF4 had alot more diversity of guns than BF1 did originally in its meta. Or so it seemed to me at the time.

Let's just all agree that SMG 08 is op: it requires no skill to use, it's range is up to 80 meters and in CQB it's death. No chance to counter it. Those who play with it: you gotta admit that it is not skillful
Yup. It should be reverted to its original form. On console, it's a no-skill crutch weapon that 90% of assault players use. In CQB, it overpowers everything and totally destroys the balance of the assault class.

It's not one of the best cqb guns. It's THE close to mid range gun.
The level of the player base is so low, so Dice needed to bring another noob weapon to keeping his player base... But it's a fact, for anybody it's a fun gun to use ...
Assult has to be easier cuz ur so close to the enemy u'll die more so u get more kills

Hey level cap I'm not asking much but please listen I don't piticuarly love your editing style I would like to see very minimal cuts in videos pretty much raw footage and you commentate as you go for me it would make my day if you wouldn't prerecord and then commentate it takes away the purpose of review videos instead of that you could use minimal cuts and leave death scenes so we the viewers see what situations will and won't favor us I just don't like the scripting to me it shows you don't have passion because you have to script it I have said this a lot but PLEASE TRY THIS for atleast 2 episodes levelcap maybe every other episode but the only really raw footage we get here is from squad up series wich you haven't done in a while level cap I do like your content just not the editing and commentating instead of talking about stats talk about maybe it's strength in some situations and weaknesses km other situations

To even out the Sniper class now is dice gotta remove the arm multiplier. Now its just ridicolus i think the game has just got worse. Invisible enemys invisible nades. Lag even when they hot patch is out. This game is just rewarding spam. Really starting to become one of the haters

I refuse to play any of the turning tides maps, but there isn't really any guns that irk me. I mean long range scouts and model 10a will annoy me from time to time, but that's about it.

Total bonehead maneuver when DICE changed the SMG 08/18. It use to be different than ALL other smgs but now it's the same as Heilreigal, Automatico, Machinepistol. Please STOP turning this good game into a NOOB friendly fps for the masses of unskilled players. Change it back

It feels like the Devs all play Assault and nothing else. Any bonus content? Goes to Assault. Make a class usable in all ranges? Close Quarters (any shotgun) medium range (hellriegel or SMG 08) Longer ranges (M1917 Carbine/any slug shotgun).
Wish the medic or support class would see some love too.

You know, you keep on commenting on the gunplay of BF1 and how it's "so much worse than BF4". So why the heck do you keep on playing a game you pretty clearly don't like? I feel like most normal people would stop, but you just seem to keep on playing and keep on complaining about something (i.e. shear skill isn't going to win you every gunfight at every range) that's not going to change. Why do you keep playing? Just go back to BF4 and throw away BF1 if you're not enjoying it.
I absolutely despise this weapon now. I loved how it used to be- slow and steady rate of fire, decent range, decent damage. Super unique. The only similar smg was the mp18. Now, post-TTK patch, it's essentially the same as the autistico and hellriegel, except "better." This essentially means all the hellriegel fags would be using this weapon. Yet, I still see everyone using the hellriegel. Whatever. Doesn't matter. I pity anyone who uses either of these skill-less weapons.
If you want to medic gun that's going to reward you for skill then I highly recommend the RSC freaking love that gun! Up to three kills with 1 mag. Just. Don't. Miss.
This the best close to midrange weapon in the entire game. Nothing else in assault, medic or support even comes close the sheet power of the SMG 08
I'm just glad the gun is finally getting some real use. A lot of people here are saying that they liked the SMG pre nerf, but I honestly never saw people using it, like, ever. This is just my observation however, and isn't backed up by actual hard evidence so, take it as you may, but I never found a real use for the old 08.

Douchebags who use only the COD Hellriegel (Fast fire rate, zero recoil) will try switching to this and fail miserably, especially on console. The recoil is wild on this thing. It is NOT easy to use on console. Sure pc might be more manageable but on console this thing is too much of a handful for all the casuals.
Do you think BF1 would have a map where you can just drive vehicles, planes, and check the load outs like they did in BF4?

every assault guy is using this weapon on PC now, and the fuck dice concept --- how can a medic with 1 bullet fire at 250 rpm, go against assault players. Gun fight is not balanced.
Ahem, best shotgun in battlefield to date you say? Someone must be forgetting about the jet slayer AA12 from BF3. For those that don’t know you could literally take out light armor vehicles with a shot gun.
Aiming for center mass has always be a staple when training even police do it, and it should always be staple it in a Military based game tbh. I think it's great that game developers are actually getting smart, and I hope they continue with this. Head-shots are unreliable kills, and games that try to be mil-sim-esk don't reward you for that reason. Not saying BF1 is mil-sim by any means but still its a good trend in my opinion.
The community should make American DLC with the prototype Tommy gun and that pilot gun with dual mags and a cowboy revolver and if they don’t make a variant of the tommy gun they should add the lever action shotgun or any American shotgun

The legendary skins for the apoc dlc guns are extremely low texture. I got a couple legendary skins and I don't even run them bc the skin resolution is so low. You think this's a problem bc of how lazy some of them are?
This is stupidly over powered. I’m trying to max out all my classes and so far only have the assault class at lvl 50. I’m grinding the support class and I have been killed by this weapon far too many times.
I kinda liked the old smg08 sure it was lacking in rate of fire but it was a laser, now its a hellriegel with a better mag size if they wanted a gun like the smg08 now why not the annihilator (the ww1 prototype tommy gun) it could of felt like the ww2 Thompson.
I love people that cry about the reigel and the automatico. Like... Get good. I run snipers and the mp18 and regularly sit in the top of the score board. Find your style, find a weapon that fits that style, and get good
My game is still broken with infinite loading screen after the patch and its so annoying o haven't played BF1 much but premium was on sale for 20 bucks so I got it to try the game out again.. haven't played a single match so far
Are you kidding? The new Smg 08 is now terrible the slow firing helped a lot with accuracy now the gun just climbs up my screen! To me it not a buff it’s a nerf!
