I'm reading more and more ebooks, I still love a physical book, but the ease of looking up footnotes, not coping with hour bookmark falling out, and being able to annotate without ruining the original, all have convinced me. Oh, and being able to think that I'd like to read that book, and seconds later even at one o'clock in the morning I can be reading it. Great video and lots of very interesting books. Thanks Steve. PS I'm really enjoying your Substack, it makes my morning when a notification a new post arrives.
Jacobsen's Nuclear War is amazing.
Yes. Harrowing though. Literally could not put it down, like the Kindle was glued to my hands.
When you mentioned "a naval history" I actually thought you were refereing to a history of philosophy for a second ha
The Notebook sounds great!
You have only read 20 times more books than me this year. Not bad!😄
History of Wolfpacks, U Boats, USN submarines 😮
Best book so far? Enter Ghost by Isabella Hammad
That second question could be changed to
Have you read a great book by a favourite author this year?
I loved the digression of forthcoming books! I'll try to get to this tag either tomorrow or early next week!
What's your other favourite Plantagenet movie? I found The Lion in Winter after you talked about it in some video and absolutely loved it.
That would be "Becket"!
Wow 691 books so far in 2024! You really read 3+ books a day!?!?
At 1:09:18 I begin to feel something of what the ventriloquist’s dummy must feel… 😂🙉
Arise, England: Six Kings and the Making of the English State Hardcover - September 17, 2024
I doubt you’ll like Richard Chizmar. He’s famous for building his entire career off of Stephen King’s name. Somehow he was able to co-write the novel Gwendy’s Button Box with King about a decade or so ago, and he’s been milking King’s name ever since, even adding it to the covers of the sequels when King ostensibly didn’t write any part of them.
Steve the television show Buffy The Vampire Slayer with Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz as the vampire Angel was a great show. I watched it and loved it.
I love them too, both shows!
What is your least favorite genre?
Probably business-motivation, which is a bit ironic -
Yes, I am a fan of Brian. 💙
