Dunables are great guitars, I tried a US gnarwhal last year and it blew me away. I couldn’t justify the price at the time, but it’s definitely one I hope to pick up in the future
I saved for a long while and bought a custom Cyclops and it's ridiculous. I don't know how much better it is than the DE, but I have zero regrets. Love those Dunables!
I purchased a Cyclops DE recently and mine came with zero issues. Currently tuned to drop B and absolutely rips... I think the DE are a fair deal for the price and a solid build, pickups are awesome, great dynamics... I was so stoked I actually pulled the trigger on their current may deal for a Gnarwhal baritone. Been downsizing my collection and couldn't be happier I made the trade-up. The 30.75" VI's are to be the next run I believe.
@@LivingroomGearDemos So i'm normally not a fan of gloss, but I got it in gloss black, and it looks killer, very stylish and high quality gloss compared to some other guitars i've owned. The only thing I could really pick out would be the floating tail piece, but honestly haven't had any issues with it. About to start recording with it.
Could you please tell me the name of the pickups? I looked @ the Dunable site and didn't see the name of pickup mentioned in this video for purchase independently or listed as an option available on the Cyclops. Thank you.:)
For the uninitiated... it is the fire inside and emotion of play that makes any guitar go... some better than others. The Japanese luthiers who made the Gibson Les Paul at Fujigen are masters. The Greco Mint has dry pickups... all original. Absolute rocket to the stars. Keep working and jamming, always a student. Best.
I bought mine (silverburst) two days ago and like it so far. But there are a few things I don‘t like. There are two tiny spots in the finish that are not „perfect“, the low e string and the a string are touching each other on the headstock near the tuning peg (with the standard strings, if I tune lower with havier strings, this could be a problem), the nut has on both sides a spot what should be filed away, and after a quick setup there is still fretbuzz along the hole neck just on the low a and d string. And no goodies, just an allenwrench in the bag.
I own a DE Cyclops and a DE R2 as well. I was really on the fence about buying the R2 or the Cyclops, but ended up buying the Cyclops first. I was so impressed, I ended up buying an R2 as well. I had zero issues with either of my guitars.
Got the same model 3 weeks ago. It's the best playing guitar I ever owned. The weird thing is that my pickups measure both at 8 kohm, not like the advertised 10k (neck) and 12k (bridge). Also the coil split doesn't sound like a coil split on mine, more like the same tone just quieter. Didn't have time to check the electronics yet, maybe sonething weird is going on. Will be installing some locking tuners on the weekend. Nothing wrong with the stock tuner, but I want to be able to change strings fast.
I have a custom shop Cyclops and as much as I love the guitar, I do find problems with the electronics too, same issue with the selector switch losing signal sometimes when switching to the bridge pickup and it seems like my coil split toggle does next to nothing. I'm inclined to contact Dunable and seeing if they will go over it.
Nice demo. I've been hoping for Dunable to release a few baritones in their more affordable range. Their custom shop offers baritones, but I'm not sure I'd want to spend that amount on a baritone guitar.
a thought, meant more practically than it might seem: if you're going to buy a guitar and spend a grand or less, is it better to buy the "top of the line" from a "budget brand", or buy the "budget" model from a "top of the line" brand? I mean, like, ( just throwing names out) would it be better to spends 650 on an Agile LP, or an Epiphone LP ? I genuinely don't know- but how it relates to this video- this Dunable is priced about the same, and seems very similar to a Rivolta- so apart from the name, and some body contours, is it really different? If so, how, in practical terms? From there, what about Eastwood, since they also are making the Rivoltas? I know you have owned a GP, so would that be a fair comparison?
I've got a guitar from a Korean factory that had that same problem, and it's not the first time i've heard of this. One dude at the QC probably lied on his application :P It was an easy fix (just poor soldering), and it needed a setup anyways. Get in touch if you want me to take a look at it :)
@@LivingroomGearDemos Yeah, but I think we've just been unlucky. I've had a whole bunch on my bench thats been flawless. And they almost always play GREAT with a proper setup.
💪Rock Riffs 💪
Yes they are and they sound awesome!! The opening track was bad ass!
Queens of the Stone Age called. They want their tone back.
Hell yes. As always your tone is magical sir. Love the QoTSA vibes.
Just saw Spotlights play live and their guitarist, Mario, uses a Dunable to get some absolutely incredible tones! Can't recommend them enough.

There’s a DE Gnarwhal now!

I bought one of Sasha Dunable’s touring guitars. A burl walnut Cyclops with Mastery bridge and vibrato. It’s the best hum bucket guitar that I own.
KEEP UP THE ROYAL BLOOD TONES MAN, WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU ATTEMPT THAT!!!!!!

Ahhhhh, the riffage! Magnificent!
Nice demo! 🤪
Cool guitar, cooler hat.
Dunable makes wonderful guitars
cool demo as always
Thanks!
Is it sad that I knew what guitar it was from the side view? About to go and try one of these out and maybe buy it.
Not sad! Hope you like it ✌🏻
Now that they have the DE line I hope to get one in the near future. Maybe time to sell some unused gear so I can get the R2 DE Silverburst one.
Man I've been wanting their asteroids model for a while..maybe another 5yrs😂
I'd love to see one of these with filtertrons like a Gretsch Corvette!
Killer tones and playing! Thanks for the great review. What’s the weight?
Cool man, beautiful guitar, unfortunately impossible to find here in Brazil
Yeah, i've never see one of it here... soo sad
Imagine living in Argentina and being left handed... Ain't gonna happen
Man that was awesome, every riff sounded incredible, you really know how to rock and roll with style, next time suit up! Troy Van Leeuwen who? 😂
Thanks! Would have done if I didn't hate suits :)

It's a bit weird, because it's probably the simplest part of making the guitar.

Dude I love your channel!
Thanks!
@livingroomgeardemos what your favourite guitar for nailing most of the queens of stone age songs?
This one maybe!
What tuning were you using for the song you made?? Love the Queens vibe. One of my favorite bands ever.
D standard!
@@LivingroomGearDemos Right on! Thanks man. Love your channel. Thanks for doing what yon do.
lol I thought these were a $150ish a guitar brand. Imagine my surprise at seeing the price.
Nice!!
Looks very similar to a Gretsch Corvette
That toggle switch position is a deal breaker for me, terrible!

Come clooooooose!!
So the tone for the riff t 1:17 is just the dude incredible and the drop pedal? IT WAS SO GOOD
Yes, both channels on the Dude + the Drop.
