Long-time Vibram toe shoe and Luna trail sandal wearer. Can't beat the lightness and trail feel, love the forefoot-focused gait, and the breathability of trail sandals puts all mesh-topped shoes to shame. I prefer sandals to toe shoes at this point because they're so much easier to put on, and to size properly, but they're both amazing for low-weight options.
I agree. The information about the shoes was undigestable because so much focus was placed on the inability to articulate. If the goal is to put REI out of business... this is a top notch effort!
All shoes I wear my foot slides forward and I bang my toes repeatedly until it’s numb. Not sure what to do, seems really hard to find narrow shoes. What I really need is the midsection where the laces are to tighten better. What shoes is good at that?
Great info! thank you! I love you included the so called mistakes because it was much more pleasing fun to watch!! Otherwise it would be kind of monotone serious.
It depends on what part of your foot hits the ground first when running (for the most part) if you're landing heel first, you are probably going to want more cushion with a higher drop. I tend to land more on my forefoot so I prefer zero drop shoes.
Very informative video. But all of the bloopers throughout were frustrating. They broke the flow of the info and made it much harder to digest. Bloopers are probably funnier for the people involved in the filming process than viewers. Would recommend leaving them for the start and end.
These are cool and definitely great information, although I'd suggest leaving out all the video bloopers. Keep it simple and natural but clean it up. At the very least save it all for the ending with some music.
Nice editing and letting Alan speak naturally, it adds good character to the videos you guys produce. Keep it up!
Great, helpful info. Hilarious editing. Please have him in more videos.
REI, please don't ever stop with these videos.
Yeah you gotta throw this guy in more videos. Super funny
Love the video, as a trailer runner I found this helpful. I like how casual the REI videos are.
Loved this video! This guy is great. Lots of great information and very entertaining!
Excellent information and very entertaining, keep them coming, Alan (and REI)!
thank you so much for this video! Just what I was looking for: informative and helpful; entertaining is a great bonus.
We're glad it helped, Tanya!

Loved it !
Love your style!
great you kept this honest
Great vid. I tried zero drop shoes but couldn't get the hang of it (tried for 4 months). Went back to regular heel to toe trails
Great continued information.. Thank you.
You threw this guy under the bus with this edit.
I agree. The information about the shoes was undigestable because so much focus was placed on the inability to articulate.

Nah this was perfect.

Glad you enjoyed it! 😀
Nice video
I feel like this guy really wants to talk to me about obscure French rifles
He does look like Ian, lol.
But which one does Miranda recommend?
Why would you want a low drop shoe or a high drop shoe?
It depends on what part of your foot hits the ground first when running (for the most part) if you're landing heel first, you are probably going to want more cushion with a higher drop. I tend to land more on my forefoot so I prefer zero drop shoes.
Brooks cascadia 16...great trail shoes. REI sells them $130.😁
We sure do! Glad you like 'em. 😊
Edited to leave the mistakes in. so quirky..
Very informative video.

Missed focus on him far too often it seems :/
