I live in Trondheim as well, and would like to say that most of the candy you got there are made in our city. (Anything from Nidar). When they make the Bamsemums or the Laban Seigemenn the entire area around the factory smells soo good! Also, you didn't get to far off when you pronounced most of the names. Oh, and I love giving Dunder Salt to foreigners, because of the very scandinavian taste to them.

Believe it is very popular in Norway, Finland, Iceland and Holland too. Not sure of Denmark. Salty licorice/salmiakki is Very popular in Finland :P Tyrkish peber licorice candy was first made in Denmark. The Finnish company Fazer took over in 1996 :)
I don't know about the other countries, but being a Norwegian living in Denmark for the last 15 years, my experience is that licorice is just as popular here as it is in Norway. Maybe even more regarding the Piratos style licorice.
The chocolate thing, might be because when the candy industry in the US started taking off, there weren't any good way to transport milk over long distances, so they freezed dried the milk. Freeze dried milk get that feet smell that some cheeses also get, and it's hard to get all the taste of that out. It's more pricey to use fresh milk, but it taste better.

Stratos is soooooo good, I can't eat that tough ... I'm diabetic and to be honest the main reason I can't eat that chocolade is because I can't stop eating it !!! I just shuffle it all into my mouth !!! :-P So I have to be careful when eating chocolade...
In Scandinavia we have these three weird letters, æ, ø and å (or if you go to Sweden, ä, ö and å) - the way you pronounce the æ/ä is like the a in "ham". The ø/ö is pronounced like the u in "truck". The å is pronounced like the o in "stop". Also, the salt and licorice stuff that we like to eat; I don't think it's about the cold - maybe it served that purpose once, because I always think of cozy winters when I eat licorice, but I guess it's just more of an acquired taste-thing.
I would give practically anything to be able to try out a lot of those and I would love to try out a lot of the Swedish items as well considering if I could I would move to Sweden
And salty licorice.. I live in Florida and never eat candy here in the USA everything is sweetened with CORN SYRUP which is an allergen to many people. The only chocolate I eat is Toblerone from Schwitzerland. Even Bryers ice creme is made with corn syrup. Only one regular vanilla is made like real ice cream. People here do not read lables.
Rakfisk is fermented fish (trout or arctic char). It is somewhat like 'surstrømning', but more fermented than autolysed. The smell is not as strong as the swedish "delicatessen" though. Gammalost is an ancient type of fermented cheese (probably eaten in the viking age), could smell a bit. And then we also have lutefisk, pultost and of course fårikål, other traditional dishes that either smell or look strange.

Freia Melkesjokolade is no longer the best chocolate in Norway, its qualiy has been severely lowered by the new owners, mimicing the caramel undertaste of swedish chocolate. But Hval Sjokolade is still pure chocolate, if you can find it.

Fun fact: When they did the packaging for "Vepsebol" i did 3D renders of how the packaging would look on the product (for Brynild, the producer).

Remember it was a bit tricky to model the wrapper so it looked like the plastic that wrapped the candies.
