If there are tap bass sections (and I know there are in very select songs, including Primus' songs), would open notes function just as any other HOPO or be treated as a tap note where designated?

ExileLord I'd be happy if you respond so I downloaded GH3+ with the plugins and everything i dragged the plugins folder into GH3 folder and I dragged the gh3.exe and when I open my game the mods do not work.

When gems change sprites. This will happen when a star power phrase is missed, starpower is activated, or starpower runs out.

have you ever considered working on for example when you have a strummed chord where in the newer games it would overlay a sustain with another sustain or two? it would be interesting to see if you can overlap sustains in this game. Unless its already done and im an idiot :\

You can't hammer-on a fucking strum.
You can't can't hammer on an open note but you can pull off to one. They exist in real life and were seen in several GH games despite being somewhat rare.
Another question, are you releasing a new song to showcase open notes?

I know you've had quite a number of people asking this question but I've never seen an answer from you, do you think you will add extended sustains and do you think you will change the game to allow you to get star power while it is active?
I currently don't plan to do extended sustains. I don't know if I will do overlapping starpower or not yet.
So what's left to do on them? They look pretty good so far.
Ps3Harrison Yeah I saw that but I think the 'things to do' list is just in general. I don't see any gem mutation going on and sustained open strums don't make sense (on the game). I guess this could break multiplayer though.
Sustain open strums make sense, plus they were in GH5/WoR so no reason not to add them
Inventor211 Oh didn't know they were in the actual games. Did you have to hold down the strum button for them? (Because thats what I meant about not making sense.)
Nope its like a normal sustain, Just strum the note and don't touch any frets

Career mode does not crash for me. I cannot help you with such little information. I'd advise reinstalling the game as it's the quickest fix.

How do I hit an open note with a controller? (xbox or whatever)
Andres Felipe Perez same as any other note, except you leave all frets unpressed
JarheadHME with a controller there is not strum bar so is like 1 button = color + strum, I though maybe the tap notes will be hit automatically with a controller adding no difficulty at all o you just can hit it which is worse
Andres Felipe Perez oh I see what you mean... But uh I think you're kinda out of luck with that. Not many people even play with controllers so it's like, not that big of a deal for the majority of players.
I play mostly with guitar I just was curious how it will work, sometimes I play with friends and I don't have 2 guitars. if the game keeps working and I can choose to not play the songs with open notes it will be fine.

To answer both of these questions, look up the bass parts for songs in later gh games.

Exile has said he doesn't take donations because he doesn't need even more money than he already has. He previous job must've pretty lucrative considering he has a supercomputer with 2 980's, a 4k TV and some very expensive dev software.
I see. Just wish the community could give something back for the obscene amount of effort and time he puts into these mods.

An open note is no different than a green, red, yellow, blue, or orange note. Anything you can do with those you can do with an open note. The only exception is that you can't make a chord with an open note.

I started coding back in 2000. GH3 was my first serious delve into reverse engineering / x86 though.
Which means prior to guitar hero 3, he's had five years of experience. Now he has sixteen, eleven of those involving fucking with guitar hero 3 and bringing us what we have today. And he's still not done.
