NCAA and UAAP truly enjoyed the huge television success it reaps because of ABS-CBN Sports & Amcara Studio 23
Umere na siya with a blocktime company (Silverstar Sports, right?) pero mas umusbong ang TV success niya under Ka-pamilya and Cool TV (pre-Kabarkada).

Correct. Silverstar 80s-90s then Studio 23 beginning in 2000. S23 pioneered the use of multiple courtside reporters (typically from the schools itself), giving a spotlight to cheerdances, and also kind of marketing the players by having them appear on noon time shows or act in vignettes.

All out rin ang promo na ginawa ng ABS-CBN to promote college hoops as a must-watch TV program. Naging bigger venue ang games, like Araneta Coliseum.

@@undustfixationThere was also a veeeeeeery brief period - one season yata, in 1990 or 1991, right before Silverstar got the TV rights - that a company called Kampana Television produced the UAAP broadcasts for Islands TV 13 (which was line-produced by Vintage Sports - although, obviously, they could not use the Vintage logos). In 1987, it was another independent producer handling UAAP for PTV-4…then in ‘88, looks like it was produced directly by PTV-4.

It was ABS-CBN, I think, that hyped and packaged both major collegiate leagues the best. What ABS-CBN Sports lost with the eventual death of the MBA, nabawi nila with the UAAP and NCAA. Plus they really brought in the sponsorships. We can thank none other than “The Voice of ABS-CBN” hinself, Peter Musñgi, for spearheading that.
But also, credit to some of the predecessors where due, too: Silverstar Sports did really well with the UAAP for several years - plus, that “asaran” between Atenean Jimmy Javier and La Sallite Joaqui Trillo was a classic. And Vintage/VTV, meanwhile, gave the NCAA the PBA “look and feel”, when they had the rights to that league.

Studio 23 was also the only channel to show halftime performances. Idk if dahil sa UA-cam lang ako nanonood ng OneSports so I may be wrong, pero they don't show it.

Who would have thought that Sports would eventually be a part of ABS-CBN’s DNA. Yes, they aired sports pre-Martial Law but not to the extent of what ABS-CBN Sports has accomplished for 22 years.

Is that Mark Borboran (JRU one) also in the lineup? Now I know that before he went to UE, Borboran played in JRU first!

Yes, I believe Borboran represented JRU for this one.
