It goes without saying that Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most iconic and recognizable video game characters in history. Sadly, what's become almost as well known as the blue blur himself is his tendency to be paired up with an annoying supporting cast, be they friend, enemy or somewhere in between. While not every supporting sonic character is a total nuisance, this is definitely a case where we have a lot of material to work with as the abundance of awful Sonic characters has grown consistently and staggeringly.

me after watching the video: bro do you even know what you are saying. the only valid ones were omochao and the deadly 6
Also, Sonic X is cannon because during Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure, 2 battles and shadow the hedgehog. If you buy the games, they are advertising Sonic X everywhere. Where the doctor Eggman is not saying he is always annoying, but there are games where you just want to beat him up yourself, like in both in sonic adventure two battles and sonic heroes and shadow the hedgehog great the guy got voice actor but some times you want put game on mute. Just for fact, he doesn't shut up like in Sonic Adventure. 2 battles, he yells at Sonic in a second to last sonic level in the heroes route. If he doesn't hurry, he is going to kill Amy. I got it first a few times, got it in cutsence, and just let me play the game. Yelling at Sonic while doing puzzles doesn't help.

I find it really weird to say that Cream is one of the worst characters because at the end of the day even if she acts well mannered and kind it's because she's a literal child. I agree, except for those times in 2010s Sonic games when he decided to abandon the only remaining members of the Chaotix (Espio the Chameleon and Charmy Bee, formerly there were so much more members like Mighty the Armadillo (the big brother figure of the also charming Ray the Flying Squirrel), Heavy & Bomb) in a couple of disappointing 2010s racing games (Team Sonic Racing (IRYO if you like it. But for me, while it can be debatably fun-filled, it was so close to being there until they decided to take the Meta Era approach with the story) and Sonic Free Riders (which is clearly NOT defensible).

Wow, this list was terrible. I agreed with/understood some of these, but most of these characters do not deserve to be on this list. Cream is one of the most wholesome and adorable characters in the Sonic cast, Caliburn's bantering with Sonic is very entertaining (I'm also not bothered that he's a sword), Vector is hilarious, and Silver is one of my favorite Sonic characters because of how hopeful, bubbly, and expressive he is, plus I think his phyconisis and him being from the future is pretty cool. I also don't get why Big is in 3rd place. I can understand why people wouldn't like his fishing, but I don't think he was pointless. I love how dopey and easy-going he is, and that fact that his story just boils down to, "Looking for Froggy" is very humorous to me, he's simple and that's what makes him appealing. I also don't get Tails Doll being number 1, sure he didn't do much in Sonic R, but it's what the community did with him that makes him so interesting. Plus there's way worse characters to put at number 1 (hello Black Doom? Infinite? The Time Eater? Heck I'll even take Orbot and Cubot). And seriously, Gamma is on this list?! He's literally the opposite of a bad character! He has by far one of the most emotional stories in the Sonic franchise, and you're telling me you didn't even feel a little emotional from his death? That's cold.
btw I love how all the comments are just people disagreeing with your list. People actually like Sonic's supporting cast and can look past things like their gameplay, the games they come from, and just take them as they are. i love the Riders games (except Free) and Jet is my favorite character so the Babylon Rogues being here hurts ☹️ maybe it’s the nostalgia, but they’re still cool to me
Funny you mentioned how the Deadly Six didn't seem to fit in with the Sonic aesthetic. They were called Oni in the original Japanese version, so if Hotel Transylvania did indeed have some Japanese representation, I suppose that's what it could look like. Actually you know what, yeah, Hotel Transylvania could use more Yokai! The closest they got is that one kitsune.
Who wanted Sonic to land on this list after oppressing the members of the Deadly Six because of their (very cliche and negative) tropes that are the most personality they have? Not me!
P. S. And while I respect more than Hotel Transylvania than actually like it, I have zero respect for the fourth movie because the characters feel like Sonic characters when beyond misrepresented.
I personally love the deadly six and Zavok specifications the Idw versions of them in the Idw comics Zavok is just sooo good!

@@vexyrose5858 I don't really dislike the Zeti as is, but I appreciate the IDW comics for doing more with them. Regardless, my personal favorite is Zazz. Gotta appreciate when someone really enjoys what they do, even if it's causing mayhem. I'm surprised that Liam o Brien of all people was him. I know he's got talent, but his Zazz voice is pretty unique.
The deadly six work better for lesser characters like cream, rouge or team chaotix. These weirdos shouldn't bother with sonic, and silver should've annihilated any of them in idw(with or without a chaos emerald).

Who’s happy that Sonic didn’t land on the list? (Of course, not the people who want Knuckles and Tails to beat Sonic up for telling Team Rose “You suck!” in the thumbnail. But for me, it depends on how they’re handled. Like, I think Amy could either be a highly passable or as or even more flanderized character. Cream is there to me but I loved her in the IDW series. Big is a charming character on his own but I think there are even more memorable Sonic characters. As for Team Sonic, I think Sonic was only sometimes flanderized and usually the best, Tails is also hit or miss in the veins of Amy and like Shadow, Knuckles can be written as an unintentional sociopath most of the time but sometimes he can be the smart badass we all want).

By the way, Bean and Bark aren’t even bad. In fact, I thought about how they would’ve played out if they were in Sonic Superstars along with their leader, Fang. Bark could’ve helped out with Fang’s traps and not really care about Trip that much. But Bean could’ve had a crush on Trip, and Trip could’ve been aware of that. He’d become torn over helping his team or helping Trip.

Strange choices in some cases. Personally I do like how Amy was fleshed out, not flirting with Sonic as much as she did before in stuff like Sonic Boom of all things. Granted, she doesn't do much to make up for that, but she's not Sonic Adventure Amy anymore, so I'm cool with that.
Also, I don't like Silver in Sonic 06 because he's basically a jerk version of Future Trunks. Funnily enough, his mellowed personality would have made him bland in Team Sonic Racing if not for how comically it contrasts with Sonic's competitive personality. It makes him pretty adorably awkward. XD

Okay, this is straight up an L of a video if I saw one. The only truly bad character on this list is Princess Elise (argument could be made against Zor in particular, but the rest of the Zeti weren't as terrible as he was). The rest of the characters listed here are nowhere near as bad as you make them out to be.

For me there are basically few characters such as Orbot & Cubot, Chris Thorndyke, Cat the Mobian Cat, Snively, Deadly Six, and Tails Doll.
Terraria characters: Good to evil.
Good: Princess.
Neutral: Duke Fishron.
Evil: Goblin Tinkerer.
Sin medals.
Darwin: Guide.
Lust: Arms Dealer.
Wrath: Empress of Light.
Glutony: Clothier.
Sloth: Angler.
Greed: Tax Collector.

I know I'm a bit late for this but these are my opinions of these characters:
Amy Rose: Necessary since they needed a damsel in distress for Sonic CD.
Cream the Rabbit: Also necessary since a rabbit sidekick for Amy would have been more interesting than a female version of Tails.
Silver the Hedgehog: While the game he originated from was not well received, I found him quite interesting with living in a ruined future with only Blaze the Cat as a companion. It was also quite sad to see his friend be sacrificed at the end of his story.
E-102 Gamma: Just okay. Nothing special but nothing horrendous either.
Omochao: Very annoying voice.
Babylon Rouges: Don't really add anything to the table but aren't overused thankfully, only appearing in the Riders Games and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. There are definitely better rival teams out there.
Vector: Funny Voice. The part where he says "FIND THE COMPUTER ROOM" was funny.
Charmy: Hilarious seeing him sting Eggman in Sonic Heroes.
Bean and Bark: Not that interesting but it was fun to fight them in Sonic Mania.
Zomom, Master Zik, Zeena and Zor: Pretty boring due to them being very one note and the cutscenes they're in aren't that interesting either.
Zazz and Zavok: These guys are actually entertaining in my opinion. With Zazz being crazy always being able to hold my attention and Zavok being calmly sinister with his deep voice. They would make a great duo due to their contrasting personalities.
Caliburn: Not interesting because he's literally just a sword.
Eggman Nega: Not interesting either since he's just a recolor of Dr. Eggman.
Solaris: Very interesting combo of Mephiles and Iblis. Beating him is quite satisfying.
Big the Cat: Very underrated. While his fishing quests in Sonic Adventure are quite frustrating, he's very good in Frontiers due to his fishing mini-game being able to lessen the amount of grinding you have to do. He's just a very wholesome guy.
Princess Elise: Rip-off of Princess Peach. We already had Amy as a damsel in distress, we don't need another. Also, human characters in Sonic just aren't interesting, besides the Robotnik Family.
Tails Doll: Not interesting, just served as an evil version of Tails to play as. The only thing kind of cool about him is that he's a doll and not a robot like Metal Sonic and Metal Knuckles.
I never got and will never get how Omochao has an "annoying voice".

I really feel like it’s wrong to have cream out of all people who is the probably nicest character in the whole franchise, to be on the thumbnail and in this video. Why is Gamma on the list? Just because something is overused does not mean it sucks and you said that robots having feelings isn't something new to the Sonic The Hedgehog series? What? There wasn't any robot from the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise having emotions or free will until Sonic Adventure. And Cream is in there too? Why? Just because she wasn't used much or didn't have so much character improvments? Dude she is just a kid. And what is wrong with Sonic using a talking sword? We are talking about a human-sized blue hedgehog who runs faster than the speed of light.

One aspect I always cherish the Sonic franchise for is the character design. Tons of them are bangers, but with how polarizing, average and below average most of the games have been throughout the past decade or so (mostly the 3D games), most of them get so underutilized or get done so dirty and are sometimes only used again in spin-offs (Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games for one). Blaze, Silver, Mephilles, Infinite, Jet, Wave, Storm, the Deadly Six, Vector, Sticks, Cream, Cheese (along with the Chao t=in general). It keeps going on and on…

For the record, I would personally count out Mephiles from the Solaris grouping, as he was a perfect antagonist to Shadow and deserves the credit for being a great villain as a whole. Yeah though, Elise is kinda trash, I see your point there.

I'm surprised that Cubot didn't make the list as one of the worst sonic characters! While I having nothing against Cubot, I know some people find his stupid behavior to be incredibly annoying.
The Sonic franchise can never forget the disaster era that SEGA tried to sell to us fans. The Adventure era was good, Heroes was okay, the mid 2000s were terrible, the storybook era like Unleashed and Black Knight were decent, the Boom era of games were confusing, and the 2010s were meh to okay. Hopefully the 2020s are better starting with Frontiers.

A lot of things here hurt.
Take Cream the rabbit and E-102 Gamma off the list, and replace them with Ray the flying squirrel (in Cream's spot) and Marine the raccoon (close or next to Vector the crocodile & Charmy the bee's spot).

Amy Rose - ❌ (I used to hate her, mainly because of how out-of-character they made her in the infamous (but currently fixed) Sonic Free Riders, but then I decided to smarten up and realize that most of the time, like in Sonic Adventure and the Fleetway comics, she can have more personality than just Sonic's crush regardless of his say)
Cream the Rabbit - ❌ (while in the 2000s and the IDW Comics, she did stand her ground and have more personality than the princess-like little girl by being cute and badass at the same time like her companion Cheese the Chao, the rest of Team Rose, the Chaotix and Team Sonic, she's been underwritten in the 2010s games after Sonic Free Riders because of the curse of that decade.)
Silver - ✅ (I respect if you like him, and he had great potential as a frenemy for Sonic the Hedgehog like Shadow and the Babylon Rogues, but... ua-cam.com/video/SY3FDdxouPI/v-deo.html)
E-102 Gamma (or the E-Series in general) - ❌
Omochao - ✅ (I don't care what anyone says, I think the player having the control to let Sonic and Shadow (in Sonic Adventure 2 when he was in character) throw Omochao off the building for not shutting the heck up even though he explains the obvious is deserved!)
The Babylon Rogues (Jet the Hawk whom I'd like to cast Chris Colfer from Glee as, Wave the Swallow whom I'd like to cast Keke Palmer as and Storm the Albatross whom maybe I could cast Mammadou Adie from Elemental as when and if I could make an animated Sonic movie "Sonic the Hedgehog: Speed Demons" after Paramount makes their epic live-action hybrids of the 2020s) - ❌(they were formidable rivals for Team Sonic in the first two Sonic Riders games, but afterwards, they were one-dimensional bullies that Sonic had every right to attack contrary to popular opinion)
Chaotix - ❌
Bean the Dynamite Duck/Bark the Polar Bear - ❌ (I mean, sure. They are bad guys. But that's a role they served well in both the games and the comics. Like when he was cheering when Sonic got his ass kicked for his ego (which he used not because he's a narcissist but because he's esteemed and heroic) and past relationships with teenage women even though it was just him having his biggest character development moment even for him like when he had to fight his own best friend Tails just to get him over his stupid crush on the vindictive Fiona Fox)
The Deadly Six - ❌ (if anyone likes these guys, I don't get it, but I respect it. But Sonic had every right to do what he did to Tails and Zeena and the rest of the Deadly Six even if it meant making them hate him so much that maybe it means he did something right... right? Well, ngl, even the greatest Sonic character, or at least one of them, can be poorly written in this game because by being a gary-stu, they just had to turn him into a stereotypically dumb man and blame his speed for it)
Sir Caliburn - ✅ (as much as I like, or at least respect, Sonic and the Black Knight, I think Caliburn took too long to not be so disrespectful towards Sonic when even for him, he was at his best in this game like in Sonic Unleashed (pretty epic game) and the Archie/IDW Comics.)
Dr. Eggman Nega - ❌ (despite my love for Sonic Rush, it had a couple flanderized characters (Eggman Nega is not one of them, and we strongly disagree with the reasons why he's on this list) that were Amy Rose and Knuckles who would even threaten to attack her for calling them out when she was in the right and didn't mean ill will.)
Solaris - ❌ (say what you want about Sonic '06. It's one of my guilty pleasure games, btw. But one of the things that makes the story so much better than Pariah695 would portray it as is its characterization outside of Sonic's story!)
Big the Cat - ❌ (I can totally understand why he gets a bad rep. But honestly, I think that while he's far from the most memorable, his personality is kinda cute and funny, even when he's like "Froggy!", teaches Sonic to fish in Sonic Frontiers and has alternate versions in Sonic Prime)
Princess Elise - ✅ (do I even need to explain?)
Tails Doll - ✅ (first there's Tails being so flanderized in the 2010s he would be so misrepresented as an indefensible, temperamental coward. Then there's... this guy, who... just existed...)

I think Amy Rose deserves more credit when you take her appearances in animated series like Sonic X, Sonic Boom, Sonic Prime, etc into account. She's given a lot more character and development than what the games are limited to.

Personally, the character I hate the most is the "Sonic Boom" version of Shadow The Hedgehog. Not just because he's pure evil unlike the other Shadow, but because he serves no purpose in the games or the series.
