My mom did mine and it worked so well! Although there are a couple of things to keep in mind. It comes out shorter than you might have expected it to be. It will be shorter in the back and longer in the front. The ends will be uneven, but it's easily fixable by snipping diagonally until it's even. Make sure you have super sharp scissors (if you don't have hair scissors then use sewing scissors) and when cutting the ponytail make it as even as possible. I recommend both a pair of big and small sharp scissors. The big ones for the ponytail and the small ones for the trimming. Don't forget at the end to take out the bluntness by running the blade of the scissors at the ends of the hair. My hair looks like a professionally done messy lob and I will probably use this technique a lot in the future!
Love this tutorial! thanks so much, I'm going to try it on my curly hair, but will feather the ends a lot more as my hair type doesn't suit blunt ends. wish me luck!
@@MissCupcakeslover i must say its not bad, this method is better than the way i used to cut my hair before, which is having it in low twintails and cut it
If you are bored, maybe you would care to look at Dr. Vernon Coleman's videos and a channel called 'Computing Forever". All is not as we have been told by the government about the alleged 'pandemic'.
I see a lot of people complaining about it being shorter in the back. this is because she is actually teaching how to cut an a line bob (which she failed to mention). a lines are short in back and long in front. also I'm a stylist. If you don't have hair on the finer/thinner side this is going to look horrible. all other hair types require layers and texturizing. I have had SO many people come to me needing their hair fixed bc they watched videos like this and didn't have an appropriate hair type. hope this helps prevent more people from screwing up their hair.
Done this today! Perfect instructions and I love the result. When you really loosen the sections above your ears, it turns out super professional and unique!
neither do I. I cut my ends using creaclip and that is it. How can you measure it by hands or fingers what if you cut one side shorter than the other! maybe it works when you have a great measurement sense.
In case you’re looking for an answer as to where to part your hair before tying the ponytail, go for middle parting. Not a side one because a middle parting will keep your hair length even from both sides. =)
I was very hesitant and scared to try this but my hair was fried so I grew some, got organized and decided to give it a go.. Worse come to worse I would get a pixie cut tomorrow... I have never walked out of a salon and been this happy. Every time I go to the salon its always uneven. Not with this tutorial. My hair looks awesome! If you have the patience and and are hand and eye coordinated go ahead and give it a try.
Thank you so much for your brilliant instructional video. I have been asking my hairstylist to do this for years and she/no one ever does it right. I did this this morning and it took me less than 5 minutes and it was exactly what I wanted, you saved me $75 and I'm very happy with it. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
You get what you pay for. When I go to my hairdresser and I say cut 1 inch off, that is exactly what she does. Unlike others who go in for a trim and get 4 inches cut off. I think it's worth it, plus I see her once every 3-4 months.
+Laura Gutierrez My hairstylist, who has been doing my hair my entire life, costs only 10$ per haircut and does a perfect job every time... So no, you don't get what you pay for. You find someone who does it right, and continuously go to them, bonuses if it is cheaper. Unless you enjoy the atmosphere of a 75$ haircut. I'm currently attending cosmetology school, and so far they only seem to tell us to ask for 10-25$ per haircut once we are out in the salon world. So... you are paying 75$ for a trim? You're crazy.
some tips: - part your hair perfectly in the middle and in a perfectly straight line! - make your ponytail as smooth and tight as possible - put the elastic all the way down the end of your hairline, very important!!! - make sure your elastics are as tight as possible to avoid hair moving - slide the elastic downwards, in the direction your hair would naturally fall - make the cutting line really as straight as possible!! If needed ask someone for help - when it's your first time trying this, never go for the length you want right away, you can go shorter but never longer! - if you're going for a shorter bob, you might have some neck hair peaking out at the back that was too short to get into the ponytail. Ask someone to cut these or do it yourself if you can
I cut it super uneven lol. my hair must have been way thicker than hers and the ponytail thing didn't work too well, thankfully my bf was able to fix it lol
lol! Yes I think so, too, lol. Are you gonna try it? It looks really good now that it's done. I had to thin out the ends a lot to make it look good though
I'm sooo tempted to do it haha if my hair wasn't waistlong I'd cut it without hesitation but I'd chop off more than half of my hair.. however I've had it long for ages and it bores me.. Did you cut off a lot?
I just did it :D I didn't cut so much as you did, because I was afraid, that I'd screw up, but it looks good, and it's a little bit different as it was. Thanks ;)
This seems to be a difficult haircut for hairdressers. If done right, that is cut shorter underneath it is a wash and wear do just a little blow drying. No curling, nothing else. However, it has to be cut right and I could never seem to find anyone to do it right.
I don’t get impressed easily by anything but the simplicity of this DIY video is fenomenal. You just save $50 right there and don’t have to put up with annoying little talks at the salons.
I'm cutting about 15 inches off in 3.2.1.... I'm going to video it for my daughter's, because they're at school. I have been Watching videos for weeks and this way seems to be the least complicated. i have really thick hair though, so i will take note to do it very slowly as to not make it uneven. thanks everyone who commented, that cut their own hair. it really helps the next person! i might upload my video public
i tried it and it turned out bad, the back is really uneven and too short, and the front is a little bit better but still not pleased, i had to go to the hairdresser to fix it :((((
+crownroyal123456 I think that means that you pulled your hair to the side while cutting. Try not to move your hair from the place you tied it / don't shift it.
This is super helpful!! I've been going crazy looking for a video to cut hair into a bob, I've burnt out my hair so badly with dyeing and stuff my hair looks frazzled. I will be trying this out and hopefully have a smooth growth process. Wish me luck everyone! ☺️
ITS 1 IN THE MORNING AND I WAS INSPIRED TO CUT MY OWN HAIR BECAUSE I HAD A CUTTING MY OWN HAIR VIDEO POP UP IN THE SUGGESTIONS I DECIDED TO CUT MY HAIR THIS IS THE HAIRSTYLE I WANTED BUT IT DIDNT WORK OUT NOW MY HAIRS REALLY TO SHORT TO DO THIS AND I DIDNT EVEN ASK MY MOM IF I COULD CUT IT. OOPS.
I was nervous to get a long bob cut last year and OMG I loved it so much. I recommend this♥ Start with a longer bob to see if you like it. Thats how I did it and I wanted it shorter so I cut it more myself this time. ☺♥ Now my hair is 24 inches. Very long :/
I cut my hair today with your instructions and it turned out great! Though I left little front sections off the ponytail just to make sure they won't get too short. Also had to even just a tiny bit on the back. Perfect! Thank you for this tutorial. :)
MsPrajakta8 I spiral perm my hair now and it is even better because if it is a little uneven it does not show like it does straight. I just curl my bangs sometimes.
I fucked up so bad i did this despite me rdinng the comments on how they messed up then I FRIGGIN MESSED MY HAIR AND NOW I LOOK LIKE AN ANGRY WITCH AND SALON IS TOO EXPENSIVE RIP ME
SQUEE!! & OMG!! Thank you SO much for posting this amazing DIY video. I just gave myself the BEST haircut I've ever had. Getting the top and bottom ponytails even and smooth took a few attempts, but the result is absolutely adorable. FYI my hair is ultra-fine, slightly wavy, and freakishly smooth, and I use a curling iron to give my hair body and shine. Cheers!
Yay! I did it! The tips listed below are correct, the first band needs to go low but then push it right next to your skin downward. The next band same thing. My hair is so thick felt like cutting a makeup brush - resorted to my hubbys trimmers to get the hair stump level, voila! Did it long way first to make sure, then shorter.
I tried this Long Bob Haircut today on my own hair. Glad to report that it came out great :}. Didn't have to do much touching up, it pretty much came out just right. Very pleased with my results......Yaaaaay! TYFS.......
GURL! Just did it and THE RESULT IS STUNNIIINGG! I didnt even need to retouch anything. Like anything. I just cut right below the tie in a straight line and when i released it it was done. Bam. Just like that. I love it. Thank you soo much ❤️❤️🥰
Just tried this, IT WORKS WONDERS! FYI: I have straight, black, Asian hair - the kind that can hold a curl really well, not the kind that just falls flat. I recommend doing this if you have a bob already and want to maintain your desired length. I had no one to help me with the last step so I just used some thinning scissors to make the lines less harsh. 100% recommend.
Guys don't get ur hair cut like this. I've had it for about 3 months and I hate it. You caint put it up, the only thing u can do with it is straighten it and curl it. You caint put it in a French braid, nothing. I'm tired of the same hairstyle. Just warning y'all.
Ur reply relaxed me a bit. Actually it's in fashion now in pakistan. Today i had a hair cut my stylist recommended me this . But i refused saying i can't manage it later. Tell me plz as i feel such hair styles need care but ppl like me who can't shape them after a wash. What such styles look a like after a wash. ?? It's my query. By the way i took forward cutting. Which seems easy to handle for me.
Needed to trim a bit at the back since I forgot to tie the elastic "as close to the hairline as possible". Will not make that mistake again next time I try. Otherwise worked out really well this time. Thanks for the clip :) !
I've tried cutting my own hair in the past, but I always end up going to the salon to have it fixed. But I tried this tutorial just a while back and it turned out well, it's like having my haircut done by a professional😊
I'm in love! I just cut my hair and straightened it and it looks good! now I'm gonna have to straighten my hair everyday because my hair is normally bushy and looks like a bush ZZZZZ lmao thanks for this xD
Kindly help me helen .. i have wavy hair. So i didn't select it on my stylist recommendation. Had i made a right decision. I skip it to think that this hair cut suits on straight hair. It's my question to u as u said u have this hair do. If u don't straight ur hair with this hair cut what they look like. ? Waiting for ur reply. It will help me out of feeling of unsatisfaction. By the way i took forward cutting instead but i feel that i made a wrong choice. Help me out! Waiting 4 ur honest reply
It worked very well for me. I could skip the very last step my hair already looked good enough for me I was nervous because I'm type of person with lots lots of hair not like the girl's hair in the video. But Some how it worked and I'm happy with result
Wow this works! Cut mine today, I'm so happy. The only thing is the back turned out slightly uneven so I had to ask my hubby to fix that...I recommend!
Sally Giancanna me too! Remember, your hair, your ideas, your choice. If it doesn't turn out as good as you'd like it to be, style a little and rock it!
Wow its really work mother copy that hairstyle because my mother she is a parlolist then her costumer she like it thankyou very mouch for this tutorial😘😊
I used this video to cut my own hair today, it turned out to be exactly what I wanted!!! :-) Thank you for this great tutorial, this was the first video (ever) that gave me enough confidence to cut my hair for the first time. THANKS!
The end result looks better than all the cuts shown in salon videos. In the UK the hairdressers are beyond bad, they are actually evil IMHO, and expensive. I will try this thanks.
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME she obviously is a hair stylist you can tell by the way she cut the extra with her hand positions an such you don't know the right way to even it out.
I just tried this and I love it!! Safe to say I’ll never be going to a hairdresser again! Took literally 5 mins and it’s perfect. My tips, go longer than you think you want it because I did this and it was actually the perfect length. Also, when setting the band, tip your chin forward and adjust the band as this will stop you going too short :)
Wow , I am not a f*cken professional hairdresser like her. LOL!! Yikes spikes , I was just looking for a homemade video so I can feel more calm and professional like this woman.😂😂 But thanks for the advice, I highly do( NOT ) recommend watching this video on your first try of styling.
....you could always pay for a haircut...just saying... I'm a hairdresser and frankly I see this too many times where your friend watches this video and now thinks she's knows what she's doing or you watch it and now you know what to do. Then and hour later you run to my chair sobbing because now you have to cut it way short for your liking....but hey pixies are really In too.
+JLStephanie in a way yes. it's just heartbreaking to see and see that person cry or regret what they did(not always fixable) Just avoid it all together and get it professionally done 😁
No, this is a terrible idea, don't try this. I've cut my hair multiple ways myself and I can tell you this is not to be tried as a beginner. There are many more easy ways to cut this yourself.
Whn i went to donate my hair to cancer patients , hairdresser cut my hair in the same way nd results were amazing. I nvr thought it wll suit me. But it does.. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hm... i did it and it is not that bad i think. To good to be sad, to bad to be perfect. So... i go to the hairdresser....next week or month. But it was a cool try. Thank you
I asked my sister to give me a classy lob and she just turned my 38 inch long hair into14 inches and I don't know what to say about it they looks like a smashed mushroom, the left section is perfect but the right section's hair are curling out 🌙🌙🌙instead of turning up inside 🌜🌜🌜hope you understood🙂 can you help me they are so embarrassing I just want to fix them

Haha doing the same thing right now lol
Carissa Music That is what I do too.
awww...that is so cute
I have question- always with long bob- does you hair has to be shorter on the back and longer in the front? Never ever same lenght? thanks (y)
talinkar I wore mine the same length.
Sally Giancanna me too! Remember, your hair, your ideas, your choice. If it doesn't turn out as good as you'd like it to be, style a little and rock it!
do u need a specific type of scissors? or can i just go for the ordinary one? 😅
ye, sure.use ordinary and you will cry. haircut scissors lolol
Wow its really work mother copy that hairstyle because my mother she is a parlolist then her costumer she like it thankyou very mouch for this tutorial😘😊
I watched this in 2020...who else
I used this video to cut my own hair today, it turned out to be exactly what I wanted!!! :-) Thank you for this great tutorial, this was the first video (ever) that gave me enough confidence to cut my hair for the first time. THANKS!
A fabulous cut and method if the video isn't including any fake trick.
I really like the result. First time I cut my own hair but I got a lot of compliments after cutting it off. Thanks to the tutorial!
My hair looks super good now I love em!! Got em chopped in 3 mins!Thank you girl❤
criss we home she beautiful, he beautiful, mehtap beautiful, I'am not beautiful
I think I can do that! 😊👍 Im ready for the adventure. 💇♀️
Are you still able to comfortably tie your hair in a high ponytail with your hair this short?
its my first time to cut my own hair and i need to go to the salon after lol
The end result looks better than all the cuts shown in salon videos. In the UK the hairdressers are beyond bad, they are actually evil IMHO, and expensive. I will try this thanks.
???
I just did this but way shorter and I don’t regret it
Para ser española tienes un excelente inglés!
A fabulous cut and method if the video isn't including any fake trick.
Informative and to the point. I had great success myself, thanks!
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME she obviously is a hair stylist you can tell by the way she cut the extra with her hand positions an such you don't know the right way to even it out.
Even she is a hair stylist, and teaches people how to cut hair, something's wrong?
Didn't I see this video before?? I remember seeing it already. Lol
Me too
Very very. Good and so easy !!! Many. Thanks
I just tried this and I love it!! Safe to say I’ll never be going to a hairdresser again! Took literally 5 mins and it’s perfect. My tips, go longer than you think you want it because I did this and it was actually the perfect length. Also, when setting the band, tip your chin forward and adjust the band as this will stop you going too short :)
hey what kind of scissor did you use?
This is what I was looking for - simplified steps spoken in a lovely tone 😘😍
the worst idea of cutting down the hair I tried and l lost my long hair because of this weird video
Nirmala Singh Buy texture scissors. That would be the correct way to get rid of the harsh lines.
Easy to follow and nice outcome!! First time I cut my own hair and I'm very happy with the result. Thanks :)
Wow , I am not a f*cken professional hairdresser like her. LOL!! Yikes spikes , I was just looking for a homemade video so I can feel more calm and professional like this woman.😂😂
But thanks for the advice, I highly do( NOT ) recommend watching this video on your first try of styling.
Nice haircut Mam You're Looking so Sweet and so Beautiful in this haircut
I just cut my hair myself using this method. At first, i messed it up but then i however managed to fix it and now my head feels so light!! 😅😅
l always refer to this guide. Haven't been to the hair salon in a decade.
I just tried this on my hair and it turned out very nice! Thanks for the video
....you could always pay for a haircut...just saying... I'm a hairdresser and frankly I see this too many times where your friend watches this video and now thinks she's knows what she's doing or you watch it and now you know what to do. Then and hour later you run to my chair sobbing because now you have to cut it way short for your liking....but hey pixies are really In too.
Better for you, more business no? 🤔😂
+JLStephanie in a way yes. it's just heartbreaking to see and see that person cry or regret what they did(not always fixable) Just avoid it all together and get it professionally done 😁
Beautiful
I love yout channel

My bell is on
Ameiii a dica. Ficou ótimo. Gravei um vídeo cortando o meu cabelo tbm. Fiz o post agorinha. Passa la pra ver.
Espero que goste. FELIZ ANO NOVO!!!
Thank you
i like the hair color! i'd love to know what color it is
