- Join me as I go over all that is needed on the hardware side of signals on my NCE system. Problems, solutions, and workarounds!! Enjoy!
PROBLEMS:
common cathode Atlas signals won’t work with NCE Light-it common anode signal decoder.
Older Atlas signals require more voltage then newer signals
SOLUTIONS:
RR Cirkits SHD-2 can be used on common cathode OR common cathode LED.
Digikeijs DR4103 common cathode to common anode converter
Hardware:
AIU-01 for JMRI communication
BD20 for block detection
Light-it signal decoder - COMMON ANODE!
RR cirkits SHD2 signal decoder - common anode AND cathode!
Digikeois common cathode to common anode adaptor
Thxs so much for sharing this! It's the lil things you learn on YT that makes life easier! David. 😜
THANK YOU FOR THE VERY DETAILED VIDEO AS SHOWS LOT THERE THROUGH VIDEO
Just starting my layout but have signaling in the back of my mind. Looking forward to seeing how you work through your signal system setup.
Good stuff. Very informative
Good info, thanks.
Great video love the Boston Line layout ill build a boston line layout eventually. What track are you using....
Atlas code 83 with a mix of different switches
Wait, i thought Atlas fixed their G scale signals to be common anode...like the entire rest of the industry has been for years... must have only been their signal control circuits they adjusted (which originally was also only common cathode). Ah well, ill just stick with the "BLMA" searchlights whenever i can get them.
Well i have atlas signals wired directly to my Light-It decoder. Works great for me. You shouls correct your video.
Also gree led rquie the same voltage, its the amperage that is different.
Wow. Thanks for the tutorial. Sounds like a lot of footwork. Do you know if atlas has their own decoders and such for this system? Are they compatible with nce. ?
Atlas has their own hardware yes. $25 a signal head!! It’s plug and play to their signals. You only get basic detection and basic logic. But the price!!! $$$
@@ConrailBostonLineHOLayout yeah I’ll pass. I swear this layout is gonna put me in the poor house
@@Crookedriverandeasternrr you and me both! The signals are a real pain but once they are up and running they really add a new dimension to the layout.
To go NCE I’m averaging about $50 a block, give or take
@@ConrailBostonLineHOLayout yeah I’ll take the $25 too lol
No no that’s $25 just to run the signal head! NCE only costs about $5 to run the head. My entire block, from detection go signal to hardware costs about $50
See description for problems, solutions and a hardware list!
thanks finally, someone did a video with Light-it great infor!!!!
