- On June 11, 2014 Steve Perry, The lead singer/songwriter for the band, Journey from 1978-1997, walked on stage for a third time after a 20 year absence. This took place during the encore at an EELS concert at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles, California.
Steve Perry came on Stage and sang four songs for the third time since his solo "Strange Medicine" Tour in 1994-1995. It's fantastic to see him in full confidence. He sings the EELS song "It's A Motherfucker". He then sings a new piece called "Only Sixteen" after a story about an old girlfriend. Steve then jumps into the Journey hit, "Open Arms". Steve then tells the story of and sings "Lights" with the original lyrics. Steve then tells a story of an old 16 years old love of his and then sings "Lovin', Touching', Squeezing'" before walking off the stage with E.

I went to a concert to see Journey w my 18 year old daughter, n that was the beginning of my admiration for him!! His CD from back then is played constantly in my car!!! He will live on forever!!! There’s only one Steve Perry!!👍❤️❤️
It's been 10 years since your post are you still listening to Steve Perry in 2024?
Am so jealous these people got a surprise of a lifetime to enjoy seeing Steve Perry perform again
He still sounds amazing after all these years ❤
Greatest. Male. Vocalist. of all time. I grew up on all of his music and his voice is the soundtrack of my entire life.
How nearsighted
I have missed Steve Perry for years i wish he would rejoin the band and do a few concerts
OMG Steve Perry and Jimmy Barnes. OMFG i adore perry no matter his age. and barnsey. well enough said
OMG....My tears of joy hearing this cannot stop flowing. To see Steve bouncing around stage just enjoying himself is just amazing. He is the sound track of my life.
Really... this guy can sing the phone book... Great Steve Perry!
I'm the same age as Steve. I must admit I was not a Journey fan back in the day. I have fallen in love with him just recently and I have watched many concerts. This was amazing! His voice was amazing! In my 75 years, I've never heard anyone do what Steve does with his voice. I'm so glad that I got to know Steve Perry!
It’s amazing how he sings Open Arms and any of his songs without any effort at all. His voice just comes out naturally.
I imagine everyone in that audience that night silently praying "don't go away again" 😢😢😢
A Beautiful man, a beautiful voice... Just had to watch it again...
Steve Perry will always be " The Voice" nobody even compares to his vocal capabilities...It's so unique that only Steve Perry can lock that sound down as his own...There will never be a voice so "Awesome" in this lifetime...
Glenn Odle totally agree!no one better than Steve Perry 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 so hoping to see him again when Journey induction in the Rock N Roll hall ceremony in April ...
That's GREAT!!! So hoping and wishing it to be so... I Love this man ..I could listen to him forever.. I've been trying to find any news on it.. I'll be so so happy tho when I hear him say it.. I know he wouldn't ever want to let the fans down.. he's always seemed like such an Awesome guy as well as the greatest voice of all time.. Steve always sang from the heart and soul of the music.. And in that touched our souls forever...💜✌ Fingers Crossed 👍👍👍
deborah brzowski I love him way more than you....
Glenn Odle I sure hope your bird is right!!! I wish we could know for sure.... I don't have money to spend on a chance he'll be there. I will just purchase HBO for April and hope to see him there!!!! Waiting Patiently for his new album..... Love you Steve
Glenn Odle hello sir how have you been?
TO STEVE PERRY: I hope you read this. You brought tears to my eyes, a lump in my throat and goose bumps on my arms watching you perform again.I'm 61 years old and don't have much time left on the earth. I am only one human being on this planet that has been fortunate enough to be born in the right time and era, to actually grow and follow, or in better words; journey with you and "JOURNEY." You have no idea what an inspiration and difference you have made in my life. I started drumming when I was 5. Started singing lessons in Jr. High.My goal was to be a rock & roll drummer. There was no era better than the 80's. I've followed your concerts every where I could possibly be. Anybody in this town of Twin Falls knows how dedicated I am to your music. My license plates even say Journey. I have emphysema now, can't sing anymore. Every year bands from all over play at a festival here. One band dedicated a "JOURNEY" song TO ME when they found out. I can drum to ALL or your songs( lick per lick), and have performed many on stage also. I know all the lyrics to your music. I love to sing, but wasn't stupid enough to think I could ever pass my voice off as you.Fact is NOBODY can, many try and come close but no cigar. At least they keep the band "JOURNEY" touring so many others can still enjoy and remember the wonderful songs written. When one persons music can reach another in such a way, it is truly A GIFT. Please Steve; I'm sure you've thought about not performing again. What ever the reason being, voice, age, time, critics, etc.Piss on it. We are all human, it's a part of growing old.Take it from me. When music is your whole life and your FORCED to stop by something physically. It sucks. So be reminded that a 61 year old dying man with emphysema once asked you from the bottom of his heart: WOULD YOU TO PLEASE PLAY FOR ME ONE LAST TIME STEVE ? hope your response would be, "AS LONG IS THERE IS ONE PERSON OUT THERE THAT WANTS TO SEE ME PERFORM I WILL" Thank You !
Lonnie Tamme yeah Steve.... no pressure lol. just love! I'm crying just the thought of you singin again. Please!!!!!!!!! one song soon. something!
Lonnie Tamme I will be waiting for you...you and I have been lucky...we lived! So we will end...I will meet you on the othrr side.
Susan Black Is Lonnie dead?
😔😚
Your story made me cry...i hope you are still around, because Steve Perry has a new album coming out soon. You can hear him one last time.
If I was in the audience I will be crying like a baby!! Love this man!
My Mom Would Have Lost It! She Loves Him!!!!!!
I love Steve. Still has the voice. His cd Traces is awesome. A fan forever.
I was in the audience that evening and I cried like a baby!!
Steve Perry was W O N D E R F U L SINGING L I V E!!
What makes this band great in the presence of greatness is them putting the music above their egos.
I love Steve Perry. Best vocalist ever.
Nobody sings like this man. Living legend
Nobody can sing like Steve he is so great love
I have seen this before, I don't think they realize that the one he dedicated. this song and loved very much was extremely ill and had died . He sang that song with such powerful emotions an d so beautifully to her, I can't help think she heard him singing it in heaven. wow, Steve Perry did an amazing job, how lucky this audience is to be there and having Him sing to them. Steve Perry still the best singer ever!!!
💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Such a beautiful song and Steve sings it so good
Its not the one......she came much later! Not when he was 17
-its in the description...-
@jerrywilliamson8372
-he said : 17- !
He's still definitely got the pipes!
No one is good as the original did..love you always steve..perry girl here❤️
So happy he's back, he's been so very missed. No one can evoke emotions when they sing like Steve can. Traces is a broken heart exposed and it's beautiful in all it's sorrow. 💜
If it weren't for this man who I know I would not have my child back in my arms Steve have me the courage that I so needed.
He's still got that golden voice.
Hell yeah he does. Love the avatar by the way. Shine on fellow Floydian!
Still smooth but all the range is gone. He's singing in a very monotone, lower register. He simply can't deliver those hits the way he used to.
MJ . I have to agree, respectfully. The range and power ... just not there.
MJ he sings sharp
Yes he does. Its rusty but he still has it. I cant wait for his new album. I heard he is a perfectionist so who knows when it will come out. Lol
I've been watching Steve Perry perform with the eel,s in different states. And his voice keep,s getting better and better. Stronger and stronger after each show. His voice will never leave him. He has a gift for god. He,s been touched by his hands. So he can always sing I believe in his talent. Keep on singing Steve your fans love you. 2020 in Cleveland Ohio . Forever his fan.
l
They absolutely know that they are watching history. That is why they are paying full attention and standing up OUT of their seats and not being DISTRACTED by screaming and making noise. They definitely not only applauded but gave him a STANDING OVATION throughout the performance. And I might add...he did almost an entire set.
This man is a living legend! One of, if not the best, most versatile singers in the world! His voice was put through an ungodly amount of stress from years of touring (luckily he had the will power of self-preservation, or he may not be here today), is damn-near 70 years old AND can still serve that magical voice! I've loved his musical abilities for 2/3 of my life and, believe me, I'd do anything within my means to go see him sing today. Hard as it may be to accept, 30+ years have passed since he hit those "reach for the heavens" high notes. I don't expect it from him and neither should anyone else, for if Steve Perry can't match Steve Perry nobody can.
Suze Yancy I agree with you.He is the best!
Agree Boss, some don't Realize what it takes to be the Best..
Very well said!!
To Steve Perry oh my god really really missed you I always watched your Journey concert before never missed one. I hope one day I ll meet you.Love
Still got the voice Steve.
I wonder if the younger people or if anyone in this audience even realizes what an amazing opportunity it was to have Mr. Steve Perry bless them with his amazing appearance let alone his amazing, angelic one-of-a kind voice! They were so fortunate to hear him sing again. I'd give anything even to hear his voice on the phone!!!
Please call me Steve! I love you yesterday, today and forever and eternity! God bless you!
The rumors that he can't sing anymore are completely overblown, his voice is awesome!
Steve Perry is genuine inside and out. Saw him in video on the streets stopping people and talking to everyone. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's journey's ex manager Herbie who spread rumors that Steve's voice s lost can't even b fix with vocal coach he lied
Seeing Steve have so much fun....brings tears to my eyes.... still loving and missing you.... 2021
Steve Perry is the king of the golden voice
😇😇
Pretty amazing for a man out of vocal shape can hit those very difficult notes. We miss you Steve. You touched so many lives. Thank you!
Not only can he sing he can tell a story like no one! Just great stuff Steve we miss you!!
The Legend Steve Perry
still the best!
Umm, that was fucking AWESOME!!!
Still the best and sexiest male voice EVER in my opinion. Love you SP.
beautiful voice. still got it. 😀😃
Does that crowd even realize how big of a deal this is watching him perform? It doesnt seem like it. This is incredible to hear him sing after basically disappearing from music for so long
I WHOLE HEARTEDLY AGREE!! I would pay big dollars to see him. An incredible talent.
I wondered that myself when it happened,, and thought,, oh man would I have loved to be in that crowd!
Actually David, I believe they did. They stood up the entire encore. It was pretty incredible.
I don't think they do. We had the best era! For sure!
David I wish I could've been there. it would've been a miracle
Steve talks from the heart and sings from the soul..the note he hits at the end of lovin touchin is simply amazing...can't wait for it new solo album in 2017...it's always a good day when you hear " the voice "...
Jim Ehrlich OMG!!! I can't wait either! I missed all his concerts before...either too young or just life in the way. I'm so ready to see him live!!!! I'd pay anything to see this legend!!! listen to him here...F'n 68 and still sounds great!!
Jim Ehrlich infinity and evolution have bn my fave albums since late 70 and they still makes me cry even today...steve is not comparable
steve is the man. one of the best frontmans of all time
His confidence in himself made so much difference. Being able to be the frontman to an audience who adorned him and no contention in the band , has brought him back to us. He loves being a frontman to, and we love seeing him!
Loved seeing that strut and playing with the audience and the band. He got better with each song and what he was hitting at the end crazy. Lucky people!
Best pure male singer of all time. Incredible range and control.
Absolutely
Without a doubt!
I agree, the best voice . the best set of pipes
Elvis was in my book. But Steve's my second!
I guess we know now :-(
I love his voice and his personality so much. I could watch and listen to him every day
Would give my last pennies to see him sing live again .
Same. I just said he’s one of the few voices I grew up and learned to sing from. Many of those greats died long ago and what a dream it would be to sing with him. If I could be so stingy to spend a day on a stage like he’s doing here and just sing with him, I really may die happy.
Same bro I want to see hear him sing all the journey songs especially the Separate ways T-T)
I think he sounds awesome. Haters, just shut the hell up! He is one of a kind and still has a great range and tone to his voice. Please release a new recording Steve!
He’s so damn talented. He sounds very good here, especially considering his age. Would love to see him do some solo shows before he totally retires.
I ❤️ Steve Perry! His song...When you love a woman , was played as I walked down the aisle at my wedding ❤️ I LOVE U STEVE PERRY!!! 😘
Wtf is everybody talking he sounds amazing!
He's still got that precise vocal control, range, and vibrato! :D Amazing for a singer in his late 60's! :D
At 68 Steve doesn't need to scream and go high notes,he sounds just fine at a low and mellow range. Steve has had a lot of heartache and pain a few years ago(sickness, death). Give him a break for just being up there in public again. Luv u steve
Steve Perry is a amazing singer! Incredible! The voice!
He's been very lucky xx
The longer he stays on stage, the more comfortable he gets. .. miss him, miss Journey.
And that kids is a real singer!
Jp Reddy hell yeah!! the best ever!
yes
I can watch this over and over!!! He sounds fantastic!! This crowd is just not rowdy enough for me! I would have lost my voice screaming and waving the whole time...his voice still melts my heart!
Steve is timeless, simply timeless.
I love listening to him sing, He will always be the VOICE, he did it so perfectly!!! just can not get enough of your singing Steve Perry, I will always want to hear more and more from you!! You are the best!!!
Just like the old days, only thing missing is that beautiful long hair, wish he had never cut it off. He's incredible ...still got it.
I miss you Stevie!! Steve motherfucken Perry!!!! the best Voice ever!
INCREDIBLE
He is so amazing, tears are falling bigtime. We miss you Steve Perry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sitting here typing through tears.... it is SUCH a JOY to hear this precious man sing once again! I'll bet this living legend doesn't even know how much he has been sorely missed. No one ...I mean NO one does Steve Perry better than... Steve Perry. God Bless you Stevie...come on back, I promise you'll be met with Open Arms xoxo
MizKitty1122 same here.. Wow no one better than Steve Perry... he's still got the magic!
Dear God I feel the exact same way!!!!!Steve Perry, my love FOREVER and so very prescious!!
For the last week I have been OBSESSED with Steve Perry! All because my best friend from high school (we graduated in 1984) commented on a post I shared on FB about turning into a “small town girl” every time Journey comes on the radio no matter who u are! I have looked up any and all things Steve Perry and have stayed up til all hours of the morning watching interviews and listening to music. There is absolutely no other voice like Steve. Like you I am typing through tears after watching this show. I would LOVE to see him do a show! His voice brings such joy and so many memories to mind. He is truly loved and missed.
I would hope no one does Steve Perry better than Steve Perry. I would have to say that would be true with anyone?
@@jamieunderwood4089 I have been doing the same thing it's August of 2020 I can't stop thinking about Steve Perry. I to have become obsessed with him. I've spent a small fortune going back to buy everything he has recorded . from solo to when he was with journey. I'd give anything to meet this man. I feel like taking a plane to California to try to find him so I could meet him before I leave this world. I just love this man. If I had a chance meet any body in this world I would choose to meet him. A fan until the end 2020 in Cleveland Ohio.
Still got it going on. Still sexy, still one of the best voices ever!! Gotta love Steve Perry!

you haters were never SP fans....how can you say he lost it!! He sounds fantastic!!!! still so soulful. Faithfully a Perry girl!!!
Perry fan here. Big time.
@@karenhann8678 yep. Big time!! Love Steve Perry.
I don't understand rock fans. Opera singers retire at 50. Steve sings great
Still sounds good after being gone so long and sounds better now on the new album, Traces".
This man would pack every venue with faithful fans who, like me, would crawl across hot coals on their knees even if it was to hear him sing the alphabet, backwards and in Portuguese...because he is so crazy talented! It's not just that we love his voice, we love how hearing it makes our hearts love deeper and our sorrows feel sweeter...Seeing him last night at the HOF induction made me smile...I wish him joy and peace whether he sings another note publicly or not. God bless Steve!💜
Whoever this guy is he has talent. He could be a rock star or something.
0mg He's so great...to listen too & watch !! He always takes me back to those amazing 70's & 80's when we were young & at our best. I always day dream, that, if I had met him back then, that hopefully we would fall in love...lol !! just like every other girl..YEA !!!

This morning, as I lie in my bed grinning ear to ear, I am most thankful for this little thing called UA-cam. And yes; I am 100% envious of every soul in that theatre. Lucky dogs!

Tears. Like a fine wine, better with age. The voice is unmistakable and one of the best of all time.
