A couple years ago I went to the Scott Joplin house in St. Louis, where the guy running the place played a roll of this tune using a manual player piano. Operated it entirely with pedals that he had to constantly move. It was neat.

Yeah, the pedals supply a vacuum to the rest of the system. There's a good wikipedia article on the subject of player pianos.

Sounds like the roll alignment is not proper. Some of the lower notes are doubling up. at 1:27, 1:55, 2:13.
