I've been in Spring, TX nearly two decades. I live one exit from The Woodlands, TX. I agree the property taxes and water bill are too high. Also, needs better zoning regulations. Otherwise, its a good place for me.
The plan is this, the next white flight movement will be to the north of Lake Conroe and to the north of Lake Livingston. The water released from these lakes as it is practiced is ludicrous. Why not build a westward canal to send the water every spring and summer to Arizona or to the Colorado River. The destruction of flooding causes can be mitigated while the water could be put to agricultural uses the world uses and needs tremendously. It may be more cost-effective to build water moving canals than to dredge and clean Bayous of grown mature trees, vehicles and dumped cement and such materials throughout the city and counties. The ideas are multiple. Save the greater Houston area from unnecessary grief. Soon the Trinity river will be always out of its banks from Dallas to Baytown, the Old Lost River will be reborn sooner than later.
Is this a good place to raise a family? We are considering relocating to TX from MN and have 5 kids, ranging in age from 2-14 and are looking for great schools, safe communities/low crime rates, great community feel as some of our top priorities. Also looking for a competitively rated HS football program for our son.

The weather is not going to be a surprise for me since I was born and raised in PR. I'm not a friend of winter, snow and shoveling. First year was exciting, not happening anymore 🤣
@@discoverspringtexas Speaking about a house I have found one in the area, very close to it are huge tanks from Harris County WCID (close to Jenkins elementary school). I am still trying to figure out how property’s taxes work. Sometimes when I check the tax history in a home, some years are very high and others very low. What is the cause of this fluctuation?
The taxes could be very low due to the property not being 100% completed. The taxes would then similar significantly higher the next year in comparison as construction was completed. The homeowner could protest his tax assessed value bringing the taxes down in comparison to other years.
No. There are no parts of Spring that I would consider to be country. I consider Spring to be a suburb of Houston. Where Spring ends Tomball or The Woodland begins. Years ago there were country parts to Spring but now development and population growth has taken over.
Rarely do we experience tornados. Some areas in Spring do experience flooding. When considering a home's location, I recommend you check the home's flood plain. The majority of flooding occurs near the creeks and bayous.
