Any 3rd gen will be mechanically the same except for optional ABS. My money would be on a slightly used one. the 2017s have the best paint jobs IMO. But they're dead reliable so save a grand or 2 and buy used.

If it’s around the same price u might as well buy the new one, but if u don’t plan on owning it long then u could also consider the used one too. It just comes to down to what u feel comfortable spending and the condition of the bike. Good luck!
You can definitely find something cheaper used on 400s. Something to think about is - if this is my first bike, It’s not unlikely that o lay it down. How heartbroken am I going to be? A new bike will break your heart a lot more, since there’s more money in it.
@NoMyCabbages i feel it could be more costly getting someones used 1st time bike because of all the issues u just described. Fixing it, not knowing whats wrong because im new and etc. Plus the resale value wouldnt be bad would it?
@@polandsprings21 could be yes, if you buy something busted. You can usually offer your mechanic some money to come check something over with you and that can save some headache. If you have zero ability to do that a new bike likely is smarter, but I think most people would be better suited getting a first bike that they can buy outright.
@@chogames3956 what year and engine size? But it never hurts to talk them down since mileage is so high. If it wasn't laid down and oil changed regularly it will last. Just know it will need to be well taken care of at its mileage.
Depends on the bike, for a sportbike 20-25k is considered high mileage, you can get 100k miles on one, I've heard someone get 150k on a hayabusa, but if it's a sportbike it's less likely to get to those 100k mark
It really depends on the condition and how well it was taken care of..if I was going to buy a bike with a lot of miles on it. I’d want it to be from the original owner or maybe the 2nd, but that’s just me.
Hmmm… I have just bought a new bike, it’s new to the market and holding up so far but I’m taking the local dealerships word that this cross breed between a Honda (Cbr engine) and whatever else has been thrown into this brand doesn’t blow. 2 months old and done 3000 miles on her, first bike so it’s all a learning curve but expensive one
