  • Sheed and Bonzi say it's cap that MJ's era was easier to play in than this era because of expansion teams. Despite many expansion teams playing, the players who were drafted were still skilled and in the league before they played for the expansion squads.

      This right here is the truth. It is all about getting the pay check as soon as possible. And then there is the garbage load management. ML, Kobe, they were playing to win and they were playing for the fans. They knew that there were people in the stands that were there to see them. They weren't about to sit out a game.

    • @SquashMelendez
      @SquashMelendez 19 днів тому +2

      Lol. Why does no one mention all of the rule changes. The eras are different because of the rules. Comparing isn’t really fair due to lebron playing for so long in this new era. If mj and kobe played in this era they’d be load managed. Look at kobes last like 5 seasons he was always hurt on a losing team. It’s just a difference in time. Kobe and mj are the ones you can compare. Because they are exactly alike. You can’t compare them to someone who plays completely different in a different era with different rules

    • @cireepresley6334
      @cireepresley6334 16 днів тому +1

      This era is a error where the same thing can be said for players in high school of this era where they have more knowledge available to them than Jordan's era. So I would venture to say that kids today come into college more polished. If you disagree then I will simply ask you who is Zion Williamson of Jordan's era I'm talking about in high school terms. Because if you want to be completely honest Zion was the same player in high school that he is today. He's just older and stronger. Donovan Mitchell is another great example of a person who didn't have a great college career but the literally the next year when he got drafted he showed how powerless she already was and he couldn't show that in college because you have to be on a coach's plan. My final point being this is why you have so many people that are disappointed in so many kids that were great in high school then got drafted to be drafted busts because we already seen how great they can be.

      Here’s a fact. When Jordan was at his peak from 1991 to 1998, the only HOF SGs who were in their primes who Jordan had to matchup against on both sides of the court were Clyde, Mitch Richmond, and Reggie Miller.
      None of those players are considered the top 5 at the SG position outside of Jordan.
      This in and of itself implies that at a minimum, Jordan was matched up against watered down talent at his position.

      @@LordBranniganThe Saying who is better and criticizing for not playing the same are 2 completely different things. You can still look at Shaq and Steph and determine who’s more skilled. Shaq is physically dominant. Yes, he is very skilled but much of his skill revolves around him being physically dominant much like LeBron. It’s fair to say Steph is more skilled. It takes an INSANE amount of skill to shoot like Steph and handle the rock like Steph. If you gave Steph, Shaq’s size and he maintained his skills, he’d be the greatest player of all-time. If you gave Shaq Steph’s size and he maintained his skill, he probably wouldn’t make the league. With Jordan and LeBron the gap is closer, but the same applies. LeBron is more physically dominant, but MJ was even more dominant because of his skills and his drive. If you gave MJ LeBron’s build and he kept his same skill set he would have been even better which is legitimately scary to think about. If you gave LeBron MJs size with his same skill set, he would be really good but not even close to as good as he is. Why? Because Jordan is more skilled. Period.

Creating vacancies on those very teams, in which players not already in the league were needed, to fill those spots. What does this mean? Rosters were weaker across the league, with players who were not NBA-caliber without the expansion.

    I'm confused at what JJ is even trying to say. They added teams to the NBA... okay? How does that make it watered down? Like Bonzi said, that's not based in reality. There's no correlation between those two things, that's just his way of getting in that jab on the 90s saying that it's watered down. Adding a few regular season teams that were not good, that makes the entire decade watered down? Every season there are bad teams in the league. This season, teams got to play the Pistons (who had one of the longest losing streaks in NBA history) and Wizards. The Trail Blazers, Spurs... the Grizzlies had their entire team injured and played multiple games with pretty much G-League players and 10 day contract players. Is this era watered down? Just silly. He's probably on the Klutch payroll since he does the podcast with Lebron now and that's just him planting seeds and starting new false narratives that ignorant clueless kids can run with and start mindlessly repeating.

    Sheed has a great point about the age of the players: When Mike was in his day, nobody came out of high school, and few were leaving college early. The ones that did, still played in college for 3 years. You didn't have loads of kids in the league that were younger than many college players. You had grown men. The average age of NBA players is a couple of years younger now. And that's even with having a lot of older players. They can play longer now in large part due to the lack of physical defense. You don't take bumps your whole career, you're in better physical shape by the time you're in your upper 30's. It's not the conditioning, either, because the NFL's average age right now is less than a year younger than it was 20 years ago. Basically hasn't changed. It's still physical. NBA isn't.

      That's right. Only people that agree with you should be allowed to talk. This isn't a communist country. Grow up and learn how to converse and debate without it being an argument. Or go hang out in north Korea with your ppl that don't allow anything they don't agree with.

    Bonzi just said something that I rarely hear people say about the goat argument. Lebron has always relied on physicality and never had the skill set of Jordan and Kobe! Lebron’s skills in Jordan or Kobe’s body, we’re not even having this conversation of him in a goat debate. Jordan or Kobe’s skills in Lebron’s body and the shit wouldn’t even be fair!

      I know I've used this argument many times. This is the same reason Centers aren't typically in the "G.O.AT" conversations. They have skills...yes. But their offense is limited and they're able to dominate bc of their size advantage. So we just compare centers to other Centers or big men. So I agree with everything you said💯.

      But it’s irrelevant because Lebron doesn’t have Jordan body and Jordan doesn’t have Lebrons body😂 it really doesn’t matter how you score or how you play the game period. At the end of the day what have you accomplished, what have you won, what awards have you won. Kobe doesn’t belong in the goat conversation unfortunately. Only Kareem mj and Lebron really have a case

      @@fatality1249 Kobe has more of a case because the media post 1999 has had an agenda when voting for MVP. Kobe was punished for Colorado and the League won't admit to that. They protected Lebron by annointing Igoadala FMVP

      @@ceeztheemoment24 I find it to be extremely hypocritical that you don't use that logic for Lebum when he formed a superteam in Miami and a borderline superteam in Cleveland against a bunch of fraudulent Eastern conference teams like the Pacers, Bulls, Hawks, and Raptors. You 90s haters just keep proving you don't know what the hell you're talking about. 😂😂😂 In the 90s the Heat had Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway Sr. and they won over 50 games twice and lost to the Bulls.

      @@psychedelicvault6951 The LeBron left Cleveland argument is getting old. LeBron left Cleveland in 2010 when the CELTICS BIG 3 were still dominant in the East. LeBron left a Cavs team that wasn't drafting well because they were winning 50-60 games, had has been players like Big Z Shaq Antwan Jamison and Ben Wallace on the team and didn't really have a supporting cast outside of Mo Williams who LeBron made an All Star...The Cavs didn't have much trade capital to get another superstar and lets be real...who wants to go to CLEVELAND to win a championship when you can go to NY Miami LA or the Bulls to contend for a championship AND get more endorsement dollars to make up for what you're not making on the team. LeBron goes to Miami to play for a chip and Cleveland is left to rebuild. They get Dion Waiters (is he still in the league? No) Kyrie, Tristan Thompson (meh) Anthony Bennett (they passed up Giannis for this draft bust as the 1st pick of the draft) and Andrew Wiggins (mid). Bron goes back to Cleveland and wins a ring and has been in the finals repeatedly. He had to leave the team he didn't want to leave not only to win but for the team to actually get talented players and trade pieces and Cleveland couldn't even get that right!
