Oh give it a go! I made a very simple one with just two onion slicers held in a vice to start off with to see how I got on with it. Two dog combs work quite well too. It was only after I’d tried both of those methods that I knew exactly what I wanted.

Thank you so much! This is the video I have been looking for ! I am a needle-felter who needs to blend small amounts of fibers for my artwork. I was not sure to get a Ashland Blending board, double hackle or small drum carder. I love how finely blended your rovings are. My friends made me a hackle with hair picks. I will try that. Thank you from #CastleofCostaMesa

You’re very welcome! A home made hackle is one of the cheapest and most effective methods of blending fibres. If you are only looking to blend small amounts you could look in the pet store for a couple of dog combs. They make very effective mini hand carders.

I like the technique where you hold the fibers together. I have one from Paradise Fibers, but it's amazing you made one from onion holders. My only thing is that I have trouble pulling the fibers off, but I'm sure I'll get better.

Ah yes, it can be tricky. I tend to load them up a bit too much, which makes it difficult to pull off. If you pull from the very tips of the fibres and give it a little wiggle, it can make it easier to draft.
