Because the Russian national anthem is performed on behalf of the whole nation and always in chorus. That is why men and women perform together with different timbres. There is intentionally no absolute harmony.

In one short segment Russia took massive dumps over the tiddly winks opening/closing we (Canada) put out. Vancouver's ceremonies were borderline embarrassing. The gravity of having the symphony playing the anthem in the Red Square near the Kremlin was indescribably epic.
