How To Use LTspice, A Free Circuit Simulator

- This tutorial shows how to use LTspice, which is a powerful, open-source circuit simulator. It starts out by drawing a simple circuit with a voltage source, resistor, LED, and ground. A custom model is made for the LED. Next, a full adder is built at the transistor level using NAND logic gates. The full adder is turned into a symbol so a 4-bit calculator can be stimulated. Finally, an astable multivibrator output is simulated and compared to values measured on an oscilloscope and values found using EasyEDA. Both an operating point simulation and a transient simulation will be used.

Great video I would like to see more beginner video on LTspice.
I was trying to have this be a beginner video. Placing parts and drawing wires is the very basics but that would be boring if it was to slow. I do explain/show how to do this but it might just be a bit fast. If you try and build the circuit with the video it might help.

Thanks! On the gsnetwork website, I write articles that include the diagrams for most of the circuits. I am working on finishing the computer build right now so I am a bit behind on uploading content but eventually, they should all be there.

Well I did draw the logic gate level circuit diagram for the 4-bit computer. However, I did not actually simulate the entire computer running at the transistor level. I do have the 4-bit calculator simulator that works though. I think that is in the how to use easyEDA video.

@@GlobalScienceNetwork Surprisingly, I haven't yet seen a very simple computer with simple single line 1 byte or half byte machine code opcode inputs that has a full circuit simulation. That could be a very popular project, if post that entire computer modeled in spice or another circuit simulator. That could be some good marketing for the videos also.

You and me both! Ha ah I did build a 4-bit computer in my latest video. I drew the circuit diagram in Easyeda though. I am learning these things to try and build a new type of circuit which will be artificial neurons. Maybe someday these will compute with light waves near that range but this is probably a few decades out.

Any circuit configuration in particular? You can get opamps circuit layouts from data sheets and build the IC in a similar way that I show in this video with the full adder.

I do not have any particular IC's drawn up in LTspice. Lots of IC's have data sheets with component level detail.
Using the term wavelength is not like saying time duration. People tend to over use the word wavelength. Where pulse duration, on for, off for, timing pulse, interval, may convey more information. I have come to believe a wave is not real and I stay away from the word. A wave on water is just more water molecules in a give area that are moving base on the counter pressure below the surface. It is an effect of traveling pulses of water density. Of course we know if you throw oil on water the dense at the surface flattens and the troubled water goes away. Density dissipates across the surface. If I were to say the wavelength changes by added oil says little. Watched your whole video, but sorry I have a app that lets me recall your channel without subscribing. UA-cam doesn't sort the list, so I don't use their program metrics. The plugin I use is well organized.
