I made this shrug and a matching hat. Lots of compliments. Working on a second one. Great directions. I was only able to make a hat or a scarf with a wrap stitch when I began. Thank you.
Great video. I just finished making this and it looks amazing! You are amazing at explaining what to do. Please continue to do more loom knitting videos like this. I would be completely lost with loom knitting if it wasn't for your channel and all of your helpful videos!
+Amanda Padilla thank you so much for your nice words :) So glad to know you enjoy them! We'd love to see your result, feel free to send us pictures to info@tuteate.com
I am currently making this project! Its my first one thats not a hat or scarf! If it turns out the way yours did, my next project will be the full sweater! Im soooo excited! I haven't been loom knitting for long, maybe a month or so. Btw i LOVE your videos. They are so easy to follow and give clear instructions.
Amanda Klein thank you so much for your feedback! So glad to know you are happy with this project and encouraged to do the sweater too :) Keep us updated with your progress ok?
Other than the loom size, are the instructions the same? Or should you add more rows to the lengths for longer sleeves or a longer section across the back?
Dear Tuteate, I love your videos, the first thing I made with your program was the mini heart hat, it took me a day and a half to make it and it was awesome!! Thank you so much for all of your posts on youtube, it's my favorite thing to do now :D!! Thanks again and may The Lord be with you :).
I've done your scarf, cape poncho, halter top and briefcase project, this would be next ! Awesome projects clear instructions, nice music too :) please do more project with pattern/ color combinations thanks a zillion!
+Zara Ramadi thank you, we'll try to share more projects related to clothing :) We've received your pictures BTW! We'll be sharing them next week on our site!
36 pegs for small, medium, large. 41 pegs for XL, 1X, 2X, 3X. The loom size is to fit your upper arm. To test the loom make 8 to 10 rows of e wrap stitches on the loom. Take off the stitches from the loom and try the circle ⭕️ on. If it fits your upper than it will fit your size.
This tutorial was awesome! I am just learning and your instructions and video were very clear and easy to follow. I am excited to make something other than a scarf.
I normally wear an extra large in my shirts and sweaters. what size will this be when finished. do I need to use a larger loom? if so, how will this effect the pattern.
I love your videos. Have you ever made a hooded vest or hooded shrug? I'm trying to make something summery that also has a hood. :) Maybe I can expand on the cowl.
If I want longer sleeves I assume you just keep purling around till you get the length you want before you go on to the back. And would that work with the back just add rows to make it longer? Thank You for your Time, Tami
I absolutely love, love, love this!! Is there anyway to make this in a size for full figured gals? My first one I made for me and I wear a size small top and 4 jeans and it was a little big but I think it was the yarn I used. But that is ok. I love it. My mom in law would like one but she is a little on the heavy side. Any suggestions?? Thank you again....this is a great project and worked up fast.
Barbara Leger thanks for your words! :) For a bigger size, a bigger loom could work fine (you would get wider sleeves and a more covered back). Please keep us updated! :)
I love love love it so much!!!! Thank you for teaching me. I can't wait to make one or two! :-) you are so talented, and totally awesome. Keep up the great projects!! Maria
I have been trying to do this I get the first sleeve done and the back but I start on the second sleeve and it doesn’t look right. Don’t know what I am doing wrong can anyone help me out
@tuteate I love this video thank you for all your lovely projects. I you like to make it a little bit longer and bigger for a size large can you pls tell me witch loom will be better. Thank you again😊
Manda BearCat hi! :) If you continue working more rows, this will make the piece wider (more length between shoulders). If you want your back longer, you would need to use a loom with more pegs on it.
+Bj Jeffrey i don't know specific size. it fits the average woman....i am a little bigger so it was slightly smaller....when i make another i will use the bigger loom so see if thats better...it is an awesome project for a beginner which i was when i started...one thing i did other than the tape markers...before I started i wrapped every other 2 pegs with mini rubberbands (loom bands the kids are so fond of) this helped me to remember knit 2 purl 2......
+Coralann Conn Thank you very much for the sizing info and your tips. I have broad shoulders and am trying to figure out which loom I need to use. I ordered the yarn from Joanns, their 3 or more "packs" are on sale.
Is there a way to provide measurements for sizes? I made this for my sister who is average (but with broad shoulders) on a 48 peg loom and it is way, way too small. It looks like a torture device on her. It did come out beautiful though. I DO love your videos!
I'm upset on how mine came out. I can't put it on. It came out with the back stitched together. Mine looks like a pair of shorts rather than a shrug :(. I was hoping to use this shrug on a bus ride to a retreat this summer but no I can't. I have no idea what I did wrong. Should I cut it so the front becomes open so I can put it on or do I have to start the whole project over? I''ll probably just cut the front open open fix everything after that. I'm just going to start over.
You have to remember to reverse directions in the knit/purl section *without* connecting the first and last pegs (iow, you’re knitting back and forth flat for that one section after the first sleeve, before starting the second sleeve) . Doing that creates the opening
I would also like to know how to make this into a larger size as well. My family are all big framed people (not necessarily heavy-set or overweight....just a larger frame where shoulders are a bit more broad). I know you said to use a larger loom with more pegs, which I have, but how would you adjust the pattern to accommodate the larger loom, keeping in mind I've only been loom knitting for less than a month, but am progressing quite rapidly :) Thanks so much for your awesome tutorials! I'm waiting with baited breath for your answer as I'd really like to make one of these for myself & a few family members and friends.
Tami Walsh hi! You can use a larger loom and follow the same directions given in this video :) You just need to: First cuff - (from minute 0:29 to 4:03 ) do the same for the same length First sleeve - (from minute 4:05 to 5:20) do the same for a longer length (this length will be the distance you want to have from the cuff to the shoulder) Back - (from minute 5:21 to 9:11) do the same for a longer length (as long as the width you want for the back). Mark the same number of pegs we mention. Second sleeve - (from minute 9:13 to 10:00) do the same for the same length you worked for first sleeve Second cuff - (from minute 10:01 til the end) do the same for the same length Hope this helps! Keep us updated, ok? :)
Has anyone told you what a kind, generous, sweet soul you are? Well *I'm* telling you now! Thank you so very much for your generosity, your time AND your patience! You are truly an Angelic soul *heart* and I love you to pieces :) I am so anxious to get started on this now! (doin' a happy dance) :D
I'm starting this now....but realize I am using medium #4 yarn instead of Bulky #5 yarn....will that change the look of the final shrug? I am using a 36 peg loom....should I use smaller loom? Just curious if smaller yarn makes a difference.
+Coralann Conn hi! Your knitting will be a bit looser and "holey", because thinner yarn leaves more space between pegs. The result can be nice too :) Another option could be to use 2 strands of your yarn at the same time, as if you had 1 double-thick strand of yarn...
I am a size small on top... Would I use the next size down loom (31 pegs)? Would I have to adjust the number of rows as well? Thanks! I love your tutorials and have made several of your patterns! :)
Gretchen Mosetter hi! Thank you :) You can use the next size down loom, yes :) And you can try on your work while you are knitting it or use a T-shirt of yours as a reference to compare with while you are knitting it
Question, if I wanted to go up in size for someone larger, would I switch to the next size loom up? I am trying to figure out how to size one for different people. Also, when you say thick yarn do you mean yarn in the size of Medium #4 or Bulky #5?
Antonio Edwards hi! If you want the sleeves to be wider, then you would need the next size up loom (on the other hand, the whole piece can be made wider using the same loom, because we work it from one cuff to the other). Here we used a yarn called Phildar Rapido, which is recommended for knitting needles of 6mm - 7mm (I guess that is size #5).
This may be a really dumb question- but if I really dislike purling, can I just knit the back sections (keeping the knit-purl pattern for the sleeve cuff and edges of back) instead of purling. . . if it's reversible, that seems like it would work.
+loznrob hi! Are you using the same loom? Here you will find more details: www.tuteate.com/2014/07/07/teje-una-chaquetilla-con-telar/ (it's in Spanish, but maybe you can browse it with Google Chrome and get it translate it... and maybe the pictures can help you)
Melisa Wilfong hi! You could use the 31 peg loom and follow the same directions given in this video but adapting the lengths to your dauhter's (the sleeve's lenght and back length)
sharinganqueen thank you! In this tutorial, since we knit from one cuff, then the sleeve, then the back, and then the other sleeve and cuff, we cannot make the back longer, just wider. However, we are preparing other video tutorials where we will show how to knit a sweater :)
Nick Allum hi! This would need a different video tutorial (since we worked this project in just 1 piece from 1 sleeve to the other). We will try to show how to loom knit a jersey/jacket in future videos :)
Hi! (not pain at all!) Yes, I would work 16 rows as well. If you use a 41-peg loom, the sleeves will be wider, and the back part will be higher. But the number of rounds make the sleeve's length, and the number of rows make the back width.
hi, I know this is a old post, but I'm not sure how to explain this, but I need some help with this pattern. O.k.when I start on the back of the cardigan where she knit 5 then purl around to the last 5, then knit those last five. Is the back gonna have a double layer? Where is the hole that you stick ur arms in? I'm so confused because the loom is round and ur knitting and purling all around the loom. Pls anyone comment if they know what I'm talking about.
You have to remember to reverse directions in the knit/purl section without connecting the first and last pegs (iow, you’re knitting back and forth flat for that one section after the first sleeve, before starting the second sleeve) . Doing that creates the opening. :) late but hth anyway
+Laura Shyman hi! Maybe use a larger size loom, so the sleeves can turn out wider. And yes, this could be done on the long loom, working in rounds while making the cuffs and sleeves, and in flat panel when working the back part
***** hi! This project is worked horizontally, from one cuff to the other, so you will be able to make the sleeves as long as you want, and the back as wide as you want. We did an M size, approx.
Thorn Daven hi! Here we used a yarn called Phildar Rapido which is recommended for knitting needles of 6mm - 7mm (sorry, it seems we forgot the "mm" on the video). Another yarn we typically use is Katia Canada: www.katia.com/lana.php?idLana=canada&lng=EN
+loznrob hi! Yes, here we show how to loom knit the shrug, starting from one sleeve, then working the back directly attached to it, and then the other sleeve.
A & G Productions hi! For smaller stitches we would need a loom with thinner pegs (and less space between pegs). On this loom, we use thick yarn to avoid having holes (and we get big stitches)...
Verenice garcia hi! (sorry for this delayed reply!) we cannot show longer of this project, sorry, but maybe it could be useful for you to check these other videos where we show the basics: Here the basic knit: Circular Loom Knitting: How to Knit (DIY Tutorial) Here how to purl: Circular Loom Knitting: How to Purl (DIY Tutorial) Or you can tell us where you get lost and we will try to help you :)
Tuteate tuteate I know how to do things but I need you to have a little more details but iv already done the beanie hat but still a little more details
I made this shrug and a matching hat. Lots of compliments. Working on a second one. Great directions. I was only able to make a hat or a scarf with a wrap stitch when I began. Thank you.
For a plus size shrug use a loom with 41pegs. For a small and medium shrug use a loom with 36 pegs.
Large, XL, 1X, 2X, 3X use a Loom with 41 pegs.
Great video. I just finished making this and it looks amazing! You are amazing at explaining what to do.
Please continue to do more loom knitting videos like this. I would be completely lost with loom knitting
if it wasn't for your channel and all of your helpful videos!

Ok! The shrug should be done by tonight or tomorrow. And you are very welcome!
Tuteate i finished it! It turned out amazing! My grandma stole it from me :)
I did it. I'll send you a photo. I made it with longer sleeves. I'm so happy.
144flower hi! it's super beautiful! We loved the color changes :)
Other than the loom size, are the instructions the same? Or should you add more rows to the lengths for longer sleeves or a longer section across the back?

I normally wear an extra large in my shirts and sweaters. what size will this be when finished. do I need to use a larger loom? if so, how will this effect the pattern.

I used the yellow 41 peg Loom for a 2X shrug. Provo Craft Knifty Knitter Round Loom. 🧶
Thanks you xx
You’re welcome
I love your videos. Have you ever made a hooded vest or hooded shrug? I'm trying to make something summery that also has a hood. :) Maybe I can expand on the cowl.

Tami Carlson hi! Yes, that's it! We just would keep working each part (sleeves or back) until we had the desired length for each :)
Thank You !!!
I absolutely love, love, love this!! Is there anyway to make this in a size for full figured gals? I like this shrug, But can you do a video on how to make the Lion Brand free pattern shrug?

@tuteate I love this video thank you for all your lovely projects. I you like to make it a little bit longer and bigger for a size large can you pls tell me witch loom will be better. Thank you again😊
Thank you
If I wanted this to be longer on the torso would I just continue with more stitches in till I get the desired length?
Manda BearCat hi! :) If you continue working more rows, this will make the piece wider (more length between shoulders). If you want your back longer, you would need to use a loom with more pegs on it.
Where are the written instructions for size large? please.. I know it may be spring by the time i get an answer but I may get lucky
If you scroll up in the comments to a question from a Tami Welsh, tuteate gives a detailed explanation
Walsh not Welsh
I will making it
In this video do you show hou to make the back if course I think
Great tutorial! I am a plus size with a broad back so should I measure and add more rows to the back so it will fit me? Please advise.
For plus size use knifty knitter yellow loom 41 pegs. The green loom 36 pegs is for size small and medium.
did you have to adjust the pattern for the larger loom, the knit 2 purt 2 part with 41 pegs, odd number how do you adjust
Great video!! What size is this shrug for? How do I adjust for my size, etc?
Your background music is fabulous, but it always makes me sleepy!
Me too z
z
z :)
I've got a 31 peg I try that what you think I really to make this it's lovely xx
Ooohhh great!
^_^
How many skeins of yarn did this take to make?
Also, how long in cm is it total from end of one sleeve to the other?
It would be helpful for beginners like myself if you would say how many rows oppose to several more times or cm b/c I lost track & did too much.
Rows to make are note 16 rounds/rows for cuff 27 rounds/rows for sleeve and 66rounds/ rows for back
+Coralann Conn What size did this make? Please and thank you.

Can you post a video how to knit this on standard or circular needles?
Is there a way to provide measurements for sizes? I made this for my sister who is average (but with broad shoulders) on a 48 peg loom and it is way, way too small. It looks like a torture device on her. It did come out beautiful though. I DO love your videos!
Can I make a short sleeved shrug using this pattern? Beginner 😊

Tami Walsh hi! You can use a larger loom and follow the same directions given in this video :) You just need to:
First cuff - (from minute 0:29 to 4:03 ) do the same for the same length
First sleeve - (from minute 4:05 to 5:20) do the same for a longer length (this length will be the distance you want to have from the cuff to the shoulder)
Back - (from minute 5:21 to 9:11) do the same for a longer length (as long as the width you want for the back). Mark the same number of pegs we mention.
Second sleeve - (from minute 9:13 to 10:00) do the same for the same length you worked for first sleeve
Second cuff - (from minute 10:01 til the end) do the same for the same length
Hope this helps! Keep us updated, ok? :)

hello i always getting help from your video!!! its so great~ and love it the most >
Ji Hyun Lee hi! We take note of it, we will try to share a tutorial showing how to loom knit a sweater :)
Tuteate thank you so much >
How would you make this longer without making the sleeves wider?
Question, if I wanted to go up in size for someone larger, would I switch to the next size loom up? I am trying to figure out how to size one for different people. Also, when you say thick yarn do you mean yarn in the size of Medium #4 or Bulky #5?

c' est trés joli

Stephan/Susan Phillips hi! Yes, you can work it all knitting instead of purling (except for the ribbed parts, as you said) it will be the same :)
yes
Where do you get your adhesive tape from? I can never find any in that width..
Mikaelaxoxo1 You can also use stitch markers on the pegs that require the change of stitch.
Mikaelaxoxo1 hi! Try to look for "slim whashi tape" on Amazon
Español por favor se lo voy agradecer. 👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹🌹
hi I have done this twice and for some reason it is not as big as your on the back part of the shrug ? do you know what I am doing wrong ? thank you
+loznrob hi! Are you using the same loom? Here you will find more details: www.tuteate.com/2014/07/07/teje-una-chaquetilla-con-telar/ (it's in Spanish, but maybe you can browse it with Google Chrome and get it translate it... and maybe the pictures can help you)
thank you for your reply x
May I ask what kind of yarn? I’m in the process of doing this with baby blanket yarn but really like the yarn your using
Hi Jessica! I used a yarn called Phildar Rapido :)
Tuteate great thank you for the reply
Bonsoir super votre vidéo je suis entrain de le faire mes je voudrais savoir sais pour quel taille merci
+jojo damasse hi! Here we worked an M size. Here you will find more details: www.tuteate.com/2014/07/07/teje-una-chaquetilla-con-telar/ :) Merci!

Could you tell me how I would go about making this for my toddler daughter? I can't find a decent toddler shrug pattern anywhere. Help!
Melisa Wilfong hi! You could use the 31 peg loom and follow the same directions given in this video but adapting the lengths to your dauhter's (the sleeve's lenght and back length)
Nice
Thank you :)
Hello! I love your videos!
I had a question. If I wanted to make the back longer (like to have it reach right above my waist) how would I do that?
sharinganqueen thank you! In this tutorial, since we knit from one cuff, then the sleeve, then the back, and then the other sleeve and cuff, we cannot make the back longer, just wider. However, we are preparing other video tutorials where we will show how to knit a sweater :)
Oh, okay. Thank you! :)
What do you do if you would like to make the back longer? So it's more of a jersey/jacket?
Nick Allum hi! This would need a different video tutorial (since we worked this project in just 1 piece from 1 sleeve to the other). We will try to show how to loom knit a jersey/jacket in future videos :)
Is this still in progress? I haven't been able to find a decent jacket pattern only sweaters and I'm in sunny hot California and dont need sweaters
Can I use the 41 peg not got the 36 peg xx
If i use the 41 peg do i still use 16 rows? Thank you sorry for being a pain xxx
Hi! (not pain at all!) Yes, I would work 16 rows as well. If you use a 41-peg loom, the sleeves will be wider, and the back part will be higher. But the number of rounds make the sleeve's length, and the number of rows make the back width.
Thank you for getting back to me xx
hi, I know this is a old post, but I'm not sure how to explain this, but I need some help with this pattern.
:) late but hth anyway
does it matter which way you go on the loom. im right handed,, I like to go right on the loom
Leah Mondloch you can go to the right :) It will be the same
CAN YOU ACTIVATE THE UNDER TITLES IN YOUR VIDEOS IN UA-cam OPTIONS? THANK YOU
Can you tell me if this size works for plus size girls or do I go to larger size? Also can this be done on the long loom
+Laura Shyman hi! Maybe use a larger size loom, so the sleeves can turn out wider. And yes, this could be done on the long loom, working in rounds while making the cuffs and sleeves, and in flat panel when working the back part
About what size is this? I can adjust arms fine but I need to know if I should use a bigger loom for length or not
***** hi! This project is worked horizontally, from one cuff to the other, so you will be able to make the sleeves as long as you want, and the back as wide as you want. We did an M size, approx.
Ok thank you that helped a lot! :D can't wait to try it
do you adjust the pattern when you use the 41 peg loom? ie the knit 2 purl 2?
no
my only question is the wool and needle sizes you quote. are they UK, US or metric sizes?
Thorn Daven hi! Here we used a yarn called Phildar Rapido which is recommended for knitting needles of 6mm - 7mm (sorry, it seems we forgot the "mm" on the video). Another yarn we typically use is Katia Canada: www.katia.com/lana.php?idLana=canada&lng=EN
cheers. i'm making this for my niece.
hi is this the full shrug including the back ?
+loznrob hi! Yes, here we show how to loom knit the shrug, starting from one sleeve, then working the back directly attached to it, and then the other sleeve.
ok many thanks love this as I am left handed and find knitting difficult but this is very easy to follow many thanks.
How would you do a stitch that has small holes?
A & G Productions hi! For smaller stitches we would need a loom with thinner pegs (and less space between pegs). On this loom, we use thick yarn to avoid having holes (and we get big stitches)...
what size is this? por favor English please
is this the 36 peg loom, which one is it?
how do you make a bigger bolero?
do you have a written pattern available for this item?
+Kayley Purrett hi!Here we have some written directions (in Spanish): www.tuteate.com/2014/07/07/teje-una-chaquetilla-con-telar/
Genial!
***** gracias! ^_^
Tuteate question:for the 'main body' 66 rows, are back and forth = 1 one row or 2 rows?! Me esta saliendo genial, luego os mandaré una foto! :D
Figured it out! :D
How much yarn do you need?
Nevermind ..I accidentally overlooked that!
I am plus size. Can I adapt this to a larger loom? Would I need to do anything differently?
Suzanne Passow hi! You can use a larger loom :) You can follow the same directions
I made it. The binding was too tight. I stretched it out and everything
