I love my 500 Classic Enfield Pegasus! Just one correction for the man, it’s not 47 hp, it’s just a tad more than 27! But it cruises fine at 65 to 70 mph, and you can hit 85 with it. Lovely bike! Had it for three years, it’s never missed a beat, and I love it to bits. PS: my other bike is a 1983 Harley Ironhead, I love that one too, but the Enfield always works!

80ks. .? I have had mine doing 138ks and it will sit on 110ks all day with passing power. So far I have done 33000ks and she hasn't missed a beat. Strong reliable little motorcycle that will climb hill as well as a bike with double the cc's. Love my little c500 fun machine.
Yes in fact, considering all other bikes that sell there, it is heavy... I've got one too, a cherry colored classic, don't really ride it much as it's not comfortable at all, and I don't have the time to get a bit of modification done to make it more comfortable. Thought about selling it a couple of times, but don't really feel like letting it go like this either...
@@jasonsel773 I ordered one of the last Classic 500s in February this year. The Limited Edition Classic 500 Tribute Black. But I don't know if I really get it. The dealer told me that 1000 pieces are produced and only about 240 pieces come to Europe, so I'm not sure if it will work. In summer I get a notification from a dealer whether it works or not ...
Well, I really hope you do get it brother, 'cause it's just TOO GOOD A BIKE to resist....at least in my opinion, but my favourite colour isnthe Classic 500 STEALTH BLACK, and we already own a Classic 350 Gunmetal Grey!!! Regards and Congrats from India!!!
This was a very good introduction! I've watched maybe twenty videos about this bike so far, and there were several things that only this one mentioned. Much less making it seem easy to start, which other people seem to regard as a challenge... a lot of them have poor form I think, and maybe are standing to the side and it's awkward. I wish I could go to this shop! There are dealers in my region, but a few hundred miles away. And a few used ones around. I have to say the look of these 500 singles is tremendous. This isn't the bike I HAD in the 20th Century, it's the one I WANTED! Vaguely imagined really, there wasn't so much information around. Thanks! (five years later).
Nothing wrong with a kickstart 👍 It's one of the things REAL motorbikes were all about including a gutsy exhaust note 😊 Nothing like the snowflake sewing machines coming over from Japan.
It has been my only means for transportation for over a year. I am very happy with it! Hard as nails, fun and beautiful. Very easy to service too! (only garage near me is dangerously rubbish, so I do everything at home). I changed from FI to carburetor because after rainy days the air filter would get damp and I'll give me problems starting up. Since then I never had a problem again. It was easy to do! Also, cheap parts if you feel like customizing it. The best surprise with this bike is the comfortable suspension and good brakes (I have the ABS model). The gearbox is silk smooth and one of the best I ever had, but you need to choose well your oil or the clutch will slip with hard accelerations from stopped. Ah, dammit. Speedo stopped working, after fitting a smiths reproduction and replacing the plastic speedometer motor for the older metal one for 30 pounds I am better off, but damn
Many motorcycles with a kickstart having after a couple of years a ragged centre or jiffystand because people are too lazy, too small,(or ignored?)to kickstart the bike with the centre and jiffystand off!Apart of that a nice video with pretty thumpers! Thanks for that! Thanks India for building still today those classic singles with longstroke and heavy crankshaft(flywheelmass!)which allows smooth riding with low revs like the singles from the past till the sixties-seventies?
Alankar khare you’re welcome too! After 46years motorcycles I decided this autumn for a Royal Enfield classic chrome 500efi from 2012,and it is a very pleasant bike for relaxed and basic motorcycle ride(350 is not available here.)And although they (Royal Enfield)build a nice 650twin,hopefully they continued the singles!Greetings from the Netherlands!
They do not date back to 1931 but to 1948 as the first production bike with a swinging arm. The pre-war 1931 model was a very different bike. Your kick start technique is - well all it takes is a lazy prod all the way through to the bottom, no fiddling about finding compression and certainly no gymnastics. 190kg is certainly no heavyweight but it is no lightweight, not much less than a Bonnie. Range is about 280 miles including reserve with the low fuel lamp on of about 60 miles. The headlamp flasher is not used for overtaking but more like the horn as a warning, usually to on-coming vehicles e.g. because they have not dipped, also to better illuminate a possible hazard briefly whilst on dip, such as a dip in the road or a hump-back bridge.
nice review. perhaps consider a quick on road demo. Good to see some american made videos. Just bought one and took it for first 300 mile service. Not really too good above 55 mph but I heard that might/will change after 1000 miles. I bought it for looks, kick start and to cruise around off the highway.
When run in properly the EFI-500 can cruise at 70mph with some in reserve. Our motorways have a 70mph speed limit which means the cars travel north of 80mph, it can cope with that. It has excellent road holding and forgiving handling. It can turn on a sixpence,, very good on small back roads
I just have have provide a linky - a smoulder is a slow burn-up ;) - this is not thrashing it but bumbling along a rural main road. ua-cam.com/video/6FZPqf3qI3M/v-deo.html
It's not at all different, it's just that the usual flap on the Classic headlight is not there. I hope you get what I'm trying to say, that the usual cap type shade or the flap is not installed on the headlight in this one, that's why it looks different...
That's because when Indians bought the company in 1970s, they didnt want to change the look and feel of the bike. We in India dont even have a fuel meter when we buy these.

What is the name song?
Nice salesman. Simple good old motorcycle. Love it.
