Well done Tristan. It's often difficult but ESSENTIAL that another senior member of the crew can manoeuvre the boat if something happens to you. I have seen this with my yachts in Mexico, the Med and with Captains allowing the First Officer to handle off the dock. how else will people learn? well done the Chief.

It's critically important, especially in ocean going, passage making yachts, that crew are cross trained to be able to fill in should any other crew member become disabled at sea.
A wise captain knows this and makes sure that this training is accomplished, all senior crew should be comfortable handling the boat, the captain and possibly first mate are able to cover the engineer, and deck crew are rotated through the various positions on deck.

Hey, you got a helmsman! Nice! By the way, I was watching another channel TimBatSea (a tug captain operating on the US east coast) and he had a nice way of describing rotating motions on the boat. Instead of "port ahead, starboard astern" he would say "right twist" meaning the boat would rotate with the bow heading right. With a little practice, it becomes intuitive to move the throttle controls to twist left or right.

"Upstairs!!!" Do they sleep in bedrooms that are downstairs on the right and left hand sides at the front?
Not sure why he asked the C/E to manoeuvre the yacht as the First Officer or even Bosun would be the natural reserve choices. He then proceeded to tell the C/E what to do rather then telling him the principles of how it all worked and things to look for. Then he could let the C/E get on with it and guide him by telling him where the yacht needs to be placed. The principles need to be taught first and then the application of those principles.
