- Advent gilding day 15. Taking a pineapple mould from an antique mirror, pressing it out in compo. Water and oil gilding with 23.75ct gold leaf and 18ct lemon gold leaf. Gliding water, 4 parts water, 1 part isopropanol alcohol, a pinch of 12-1 rabbit skin glue.

Hi Ruth! I may have missed your instruction on the 2 colors of gold on the leaves. You mentioned you liked to use button polish instead of shellac cuz it brings out the green. Did you use a green bole on the pineapple leaves?
Yes around 3:16 in the video. I mixed blue and yellow. Then the button polish makes it darker.
Got it...... I thought it was a remixed color you could buy, then I remembered the video on "How to make Bole" ! It's premixed alright! You have to premix it yourself! Oops! Thank you!

Button polish is shellac

Compo is a traditional material for pressing into moulds. Here is a video about compo.
