Thanks for sharing this, John. Who cares that it's not audio perfect. It's next to impossible to get good audio at these events. That doesn't mean we don't appreciate having an option to hear.
Was thinking about this recently while letting everyone plug into the sound board or whatever isn't really an option I'm surprised there isn't like a local fm broadcast or something for events like this or some kind of WiFi for media folks with rtsp stream of audio or something to avoid needing to record the room audio when mics available and used, is fine for smaller/niche things like this but is surprising how bad audio engineering for events seems to be on average

Toyota is too behind in EVs. Cheri cars are awful quality. Tesla is #1 on my list because 1) They are the innovative leaders. Everyone scrambles to copy them but other automakers don’t contribute much to EV innovation. 2) Robotaxi will make other automakers obsolete. 3) They are profitable and their vehicles are getting cheaper and cheaper, adjusting for inflation. Rivians are great vehicles, as are Lucids, but the financials of both companies are bad. I hope they make it. BYD would be second for me. They are almost profitable with EVs. They manage to make quality vehicles for low cost. Plus they have lots of models, unlike Tesla. Their CEO is a driven genius, like Elon (although Elon doesn’t seem to care much about Tesla anymore.) When there is an elephant in the room, the interesting question is "why is everybody ignoring it?". There were two pundits well versed in everything Tesla on this panel, so how did they avoid mentioning it (or BYD for that matter) until someone in the audience blurted it out? Were they just too polite to call bullshit on Regina Chan's initial selection? Maybe Tesla and BYD are just too boringly obvious to bother even discussing? But maybe the MC should have introduced it with something like, "well we all know two of the five will be BYD and Tesla, so let's concentrate on identifying the other three". Maybe Regina Chan really believes neither BYD or Tesla will survive until 2030 and if everybody had not been too conflict averse to confront her on this obvious omission, we might have got an interesting discussion.
Regina Chan had an odd list. Polestar as a brand does not make sense. Geely can dissolve the brand but keep making the cars under one of the other brands. Rivian has a tough uphill battle. I hope they make it, but I doubt it.

Funny. I live near vancouver...rarely see a polstar, if ever...see multi tesla's at each intersection...so i question the lady's info. Based on other comments, she is anchored a certain brands, but doesn't research the entire market.
BYD - Geely/Zeeker - Tesla - SAIC/Wuling/GM - Xiaomi; China will decide who wins, simply because they have 350M consumers, that will be joined by 350M more with BRICS. That's more than the North America and Europe populations. Xpeng could surprise, because VW needs a big number for debt repayment, but the Chinese gov't will decide VW/Stellantis future. The Koreans and Japanese will 'survive' with domestic and US markets, but they need Chinese resources to do that.
Sandy has more confidence in Toyota than I think they deserve, so I'm curios what he's seeing. Everything I've read about Toyota's battery production plans indicates by the time they're positioned to leapfrog into BEVs, they'll be scrabbling to get into a market already dominated by the others he mentions. Regina Chan makes an interesting Red Team pick. Her picks follow the common wisdom, but her arguments for her picks aren't very compelling.
just put in a better battery, current CATL and LG Tesla uses are outdated. I got a Y with a BYD blade, best battery I had so far. Lets hope Tesla will use the 2024 new CATL and BYD cells. Until then I would not consider buying a new Tesla
I'm confused - Sandy thinks Toyota will be in the top 5 yet they just said they are converting their entire lineup to hybrid and he knows hybrid isn't the way to go. Did he miss that piece of news?
About the future of automotive transportation ... Sure, electric power is the future for automotive transportation. It is lower cost already. It is already much more convenient in terms of not needing service stations for fuel or mechanical service. So what is next? I believe autonomous automotive transportation is next. I have driven a Tesla Model Y since March, 2021. I have enjoyed all of the benefits of electric automobiles for more than three years. I can't imagine going back to ICE. Since last May, I've been subscribed to (supervised) FSD. This is not quite FSD, but the personal decision-making load on me as driver has been dramatically reduced while driving in urban and suburban areas as well as on high-speed limited access highways. Data confirm this as my pulse is typically about 10 bpm lower when being aided by Tesla FSD. Getting to true FSD will be even more convenient and comfortable for everyone in the vehicle. In a surprisingly short time, an analog to being in a car with a human driving the car will be akin to being in a car with someone smoking.
One day when people do these the device they shown in the past will be used where you can take out all sounds except the person talking and it will be crystal clear like they are talking to you even if the video says otherwise. It will also be on whatever language you want it to be.
I'm surprised Toyota was listed as #5 in 2030. It is too late for my favorite car maker. I have driven Camry V6s for about 30 years. My Honda Civic was the best small car. But, I expect to take delivery on two Aptera's in 2025. Bye, bye legacies, it was nice.
I think 50% EV/Hybrids by 2030 is on low end. Look at Norway and China as examples of EV adoption potential. No-one wants to buy ICE vehicles in Norway and they are the standard for EV adoption I want to see enacted Worldwide. Toyota is still pushing hydrogen options and I seriously doubt their viability given their resistance to going all in on EV adoption. Hybrid are not the answer and looking at fires in cars, EVs lead at lowest (< 100), followed by ICE vehicles (1400 +), followed by hybrids as highest (3,400+). Not even close in picking the vehicle that is the most fire prone.
Did anyone count how many photos the lady on the lower right of the screen take? Many photos of the same scene. I wonder why. And what will she do with them? Print them and cover her wall?
Maybe, but if they don't sell any, it's mute. And since they just slap a massive battery on their traditional truck, they are losing their shirt on every one sold, so they are motivated to only sell enough to claim they have an EV truck.
@@john_hind I'm with you. However, I'm certain Tesla's market share will shrink in the future. At the same time, they will be the most valuable and successful company in the world.
