I suscribed to your channel only 4 weeks ago as I found it when I started alcohol ink and looking on UA-cam for some and can’t stop watching your videos since then. I just love the way you explain and I learn so much. All your tutorials are, as well as Randi H. Art’s, the best on this type of art. Tks so much for sharing your experience and knowledge.
Barely ever comment on a video. But miss, thank you. You’re so kind, and I appreciate how you didn’t speed up the video and how you thoroughly explained all the steps. I can’t wait to see more videos 😊
Hi Agnesa! Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words. I'm very glad you found the video helpful and hope you find the rest of my videos equally has helpful.
That is ABSOLUTELY stunning!! This will teach me patience, which I don't think alot of crafters possess....but it looks fun!! Thanks soooooo much for sharing 😀
WONDERFUL tutorial!!!!!! Your explanations “on how to” are so succinct. My issue is “patience”!!!! Thank you so much...I follow you faithfully and enjoy every tutorial! Thank you for sharing.🌹👏❤️😊
Thank you, I've been struggling for some time trying to make the roses. Out of many tries I've only accomplish a very few that I accept as being good enough to call a rose. This tutorial made it very clear for me. Thank you thank you. I appreciate your help and thank you for sharing your knowledge, I'm a fan who checks your channel everyday.
Update: Hi again. I wanted to let you know that I went out and bought an embossing gun just like yours. I watched this video over several more times and using six different colors I was able to make six different colored roses. I used the different colors because from my experience the different colors work up differently, some colors are easier than others to work with . I was able to get good results with all the colors. It just all happened so easily and I have you to thank. I was struggling with the roses so thank you so much. Thank you Thank you, your fan Carolyn seriously I really appreciate your help.
Such a great tutorial! I've not seen this technique before, and I'm so excited to try it! I also appreciate all the tips, like why you prefer the embossing gun to a hair dryer. Have you tried this effect on watercolor paper & canvas or is the photo paper the only choice?
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I've also used this technique with ink on tile and canvas, but it would not work on watercolor paper, as it would absorb the ink and can only be achieved on a non porous surface. When using canvas, I first use 2 coats of Kikz2 primer.
Hi thank you for your tutorial. In love with this and would really like to try it out but do you have any suggestions on getting the 99 % alcohol? It’s out of stock. Is there another option or product that you use during this shortage?
Hi Beth. Thank you! You can use 91% if you can find it. I understand that CVS, Walgreens and supermarkets carry it. I see some artists have been using Everclear which can be purchased at a liquor store, but I've never used its.
Thank you. The glossy side of the photo paper is designed to absorb ink when a photo is printed on it so the ink does not flow. The matte side is designed so the ink from the front does not seep through. It's sealed, so to speak. The ink will flow nicely and not be absorbed into the paper.
Excellent tutorial, thanks so much. I should ask, do you add something to our alcohol or is it straight 99% alcohol, I thought I saw one of your videos where you added something. If you do add something, what is it and how much do you add? Thanks in advance.
Hi Melissa. Thank you for watching. If you take a look at video #25, you'll see the difference between using an embossing gun, hair dryer and airbrush. You get more detail with the embossing gun.
Thank you for your video. When I heat emboss on Kirkland, if I am not extremely careful the paper warps, but I didn’t see any warping of your paper. Can you explain?
It happens to me too if I'm not careful. You have to move around and not keep the heat in one area for more than a second or two and you have to keep the heat at least 1.5" away from the paper. Learned that lesson the hard way...lol.
Hi.. thanks for this tutorial, certainly helps! Does it work same with a hair dryer also? Or embossing gun is a must? I have a narrow nozzle hair dryer with no cool setting, doesn’t work so well for roses/rings
Hi Anusha. Check out video #25 where I show the difference between using an embossing gun, hair dryer and airbrush. I prefer an embossing gun myself. It gives you tighter rings with much more detail.
This is super helpful. However, I was using yupo paper, heavy weight, and it warped On me. In other videos I’ve heard ppl say that’s the only kind of yupo that won’t warp when using a heat gun. But mine deff did warp lol. Do u find the photo paper to be more durable?
I've tried the heat gun on heavy weight Yupo and it still warps a bit. I find the photo paper to work best for me, but you still have to be very careful not to get too close or stay in one area too long.
Hi. For this video, I used an embossing gun. The link for the one I have is listed in the description box below the video along with a link. If you can't see the list of products used, click "show more" and it will expand. Thank you for watching.
I use one on my yupo paper and it's absolutely fine unless you hold it too close, iv only buckled a couple of sheets of of about 20 paintings, you'll be grand!
Vivo Vintage Designs well that's embarrassing since I watched again and you said that in the beginning 🤦♀️sometimes I watch without volume so that's why lol
Hi! I have a digital heat gun and I use isopropyl alcohol 99,9%. The gun has the lower temperature at 50 degrees C. But the alcohol dries very fast. I don’t know what I have to change...it’s the heat gun too hot? The fan is on low...thank you!
I'm using a heat gun on photo paper in this video, but you have to be careful as it can warp your paper if you use it too close or stay in one area too long.
Thank you for the tips, the more I watch videos the more I learn.
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching😊

Beautiful. Is there an alternative for Kamar as we don't get it in Europe. Thanks
Thank you. I'm not sure what other product you could use, as I've only used Lamar myself....sorry.
Amazing tutorial!!
Can I use alcohol ink on a layer of resin instead of yupo paper?
Thank you Nastaran. I've never tried that, but it would be interesting to try.😖

Thanks for sharing! Is that a heavy weight yupo? I've been scared to work with my embossing gun because mine isn't,
Its Kirkland photo paper. I would not recommend using an embossing gun on yupo.
I use one on my yupo paper and it's absolutely fine unless you hold it too close, iv only buckled a couple of sheets of of about 20 paintings, you'll be grand!
Chef Laura Thanks!

The higher the % of alcohol, the faster it dries. Try using 91% or use another type of dryer on a cool or warm setting.
Do you start with gesso on the paper?
No, this is the matte side if Kirkland photo paper. However, if you are working on canvas, I use 2 coats of kilz2 primer first.
Will this work on Yupo paper?
I would not use an embossing gun on Yupo. It will certainly warp or melt the paper.
That is amazing. But how did your arm not fall off? 😳
Thank you. Your arm does get tired...lol.
Is the embossing gun on high or low heat?
My embossing gun only has one setting. If yours have more than one, I'd try it on low and see how that works.
Thanks!
Can I use heat gun?
I'm using a heat gun on photo paper in this video, but you have to be careful as it can warp your paper if you use it too close or stay in one area too long.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Like I said in the Rose tutorial, I have been trying and not succeeding after 3 or 4 lines and it turns into a blob.
