Your perspective will change when you yourself become homeless. Everything that comes around goes around and we're facing a real economic meltdown in the housing market.
As a senior citizen . I can say it's very difficult to keep up with historical rent increases on a fixed income. You literally have to save every penny to make ends meet and pray every day all day to make it work out. And be content with your lot in life. Keep on good terms with your family and work very hard to make sure you guard your mental health. Be kind and frugal it helps to keep your life good.
I’ve never done drugs or been in trouble (not knocking people who have) and I ended up homeless because I’m on social security and can’t afford rent plain and simple. It doesn’t take much folks.
I just moved out of San Diego. The homelessness, illegals drug paraphernalia, people drugged out of their minds, walking around, human feces everywhere, needles , panga boats, pulling up on the beaches with people running into the local communities. It is an absolute mess. California doesn’t need more money at this problem, they need accountability.
Her last name alone says it all, and she has the right attitude! Takin responsibilty. Aging out of foster care is a huge part of the problem.Sending her lots of love for a beautiful life. It takes a village.❤
ABSOLUTELY, And not just housing Medicare food stamps. And the infinite other government programmes. It kills me when l see junkies who have NEVERworked getting housing welfare foodstamp.
My landlord of 14 years was deamed mentally unfit and put in a home by her children. They then sold her rental units (not notifying the renters) what was going on. So no ability to get references there. Now I’m retired and people renting want you to show a monthly income 3 or sometimes 5 times the amount of rent, it’s nuts a retired person without disability extra income makes close to nothing each month. That’s why I’m homeless right now.
@@Here4TheHeckOfItThey didn't deny anything. You just don't like the fact that drugs definitely contributes to a lot of the issue, and malicious mental illness. If it's just a financial hurdle, most people figure out ways to work through it, and get off the street within reasonable time, many of them live out of their cars and actually work a job. Unfortunately the chronic homeless are the junkies and they can't get their act together because there is a far deeper element to the problem, than just not affording monthly rent. It's an inability to function or be reliable, physical addiction & psychological damage. An I agree with their analysis, there are far more people with drug abuse problems than there are homeless. Plenty of drug addicts who live in homes and act "functional" enough.
Most SD residents rarely see this side of the homeless crisis because people like these ladies are accepting of help, being housed and or on their path to recovery. It’s when residents are directly affected by camping with all the problems that go along with allowing it, that degrades support for the homeless. If we want public support for the homeless to continue, we need to greatly reduce these negative interactions that are happening as a result of the camping situation. We need way more safe camping sites in the short term to limit the damage that is being done.
With home insurance and tax increases, utilities increasees , medical costs, and food going up, it's difficult for seniors who are on fixed incomes. The only other choice is to move to another state where it might be cheeper.
Its not that easy to move and to qualify for an apartment if you are elderly and disabled. I am stuck where I am for now. My car needs work. I have a small savings that means nothing now because of inflation.
American cities collect trillions of tax dollars, year after year. Cities spend millions in new civic buildings. Museums, libraries, parks, roads, bridges, etc. How many public restrooms, shelters with showers for homeless Americans? We all pay plenty of taxes for the basic necessities. A safe place to sleep, showers, and toilet availability. ❤🇺🇸❤
🤔.....how do they know its completed🤷♀️.....California spent 24 Billion , can't account where the money has gone......not complicated if you understand business principles. If it wasn't we would have State, County and City Mental Hospitals. People that are Physically able body would work in State, County, City Conservation Corps, with Barracks, fixing roads, vegetation reduction, pot holes, fire assistance, flood assistance. Elderly would be subsidized............What's so complicated......they keep it complicated, because it's got huge dollars 💸 signs
Addiction, abuse, and family disfunction... These are the reasons for this. Housing alone wont fix this. I aged out in san diego too and experienced some of this. Thank God I didn't get into drugs. Resources that actually help people are what is needed.
Unfortunately many have to move out of CA it's too expensive. Most don't qualify for a house. Some seniors are moving to "third world countries" to be able afford rent and food.
And to conclude my earlier comment Narcissistic Abuse and their flying monkeys they create through slander etc is a horrible form of abuse and im sure there are women who have become homeless due to domestic violence.
It is all about personal choices. I am not judgmental here, but if you have limited resources, why have nice nails? That can cost upwards of $50 every 2 weeks to have nice nails. This is the last thing you need to spend your money on... it is more of a want not need. It is all about your priorities in life. The first woman interviewed got her priorities skewed.
I met a very pretty well put together intelligent young women working at an ulta store in Southern California. She told me that before covid she used to pay $950 a month for rent and now pays $4000 a month for rent. She told me that she knows many people that are suffering from mental health because they can't pay rent aalthough they work, do not do drugs or alcohol.
Glad she was able to receive help. Taxes are set to increase so what should taxpayers do? California is now in a deficit and not all homeless are suffering from substance abuse, so please show others that are suffering from inflation and income just not enough and homeless or facing being homeless. Anyone can fall on difficult times. Stop making it seem as though only substance abuse is a reason a person is homeless today. This is not true at all. Illegals are living better than some taxpayers and that is the problem now.
Sounds like a good program OUTSIDE of skin color requirements. At this moment, a truck with a white senior and his small senior dog is parked and living in his truck. He has no gas and my husband and I don't have the finances to help him outside of some water.he clearly isn't a drinker. Why does everyone keep spinning this narrative that this or that skin color makes one more worthy. Its simply a genetic trait like so many other things. We ALL need the same basics.
Illegal immigration is aggravating the homeless situation in San Diego. Hordes of non-citizens are crossing the border and living on the streets of San Diego.
Im not going to be shocked or surprised that people make a choice to not work not pay rent not abide by laws and not be a druggie. Don’t piss off family either. No sympathy.
How many young people under 30 years of age do you know personally that don't have any living family? Now factor in a physical disability and your on a fixed income . Is a job at in & out enough to have housing ? Where's the housing for those people ?
There are homeless I agree but 95% of the street people are drug addicts and I'm fed up with always using the term Homeless, call it what it is.....Drug addiction and everyone has become an enabler its descussting

Stop. 600,000+ homeless people nationally say otherwise. We have a full-blown homelessness crisis. You're in denial.
