How about you just not watch them do 5. How I'm the hell would they know how rocky ended up where he did without 5 or 6? Don't be ridiculous going from 4 to Creed is absolutely ridiculous.
Sorry Jane, you’re wrong. They fought on new years for the first fight. Remember there was snow on the ground at the zoo when rocky got out of the hospital.
It’s great to add commentary, but I think you probably miss some things by talking over the dialogue. You just have to find your pacing and talk about the movie more than personal life. But overall you’re doing well and it’s great you’re enjoying the movies.
The Boxer did not die in the ring after 15 rounds. He went in a coma and later died. His mother died after burying him. The referee killed himself from guilt. 15 Round fights were stopped because of the fight.
I think it'd be a mistake to stop at IV and launch into Creed. The movies are like chapters. I know most fans bag on V and think of it as the weakest entry; but I think the flaw is mostly in its execution than in its plot. The Rocky movies are about relationships and characters. V is a father-son story and furthers the evolution of these characters. And Rocky Balboa (VI) goes back to its roots of character-driven storytelling and is a nice conclusion for the Rocky story, leading to the passing of the torch to the current Creed run.
You have to remember the movie is late 1970s. So 37 grand would equal to about 196,000 now. Also medicine comes a long way. Laser eye surgery in the future movies. Paulie says in the 3rd he got surgeries. With rocky not blocking much it kinda shows his heart. No matter how much of a beating he takes he will never quit. Others might be better or smarter boxers but they don’t have his heart/will/determination. And of course they don’t have his biggest motivation in every film Adrian. He is jabbing with his left arm because lefties jab with their right and use left handed straight punches. Right handed fighters jab with left and throw straight rights.
These movies were never really sports movies they are literally about Rocky the man and his life and family boxing is a part of it as he is a fighter but it’s really about Rocky the person.
58:55 "They fought on Independence Day." No, you guys got the timing wrong. Rocky and Apollo's first fight took place on New Years Day, the first movie takes place from November 25 1975 (two days before Thanksgiving) to January 1 1976. 1976 was the bicentennial year in America. Bicentennial celebrations took place basically year round in 1976, from the research I've done (don't know from experience cuz I wasn't born until the late 80s). In the original script of "Rocky", when Apollo Creed's managers couldn't find a replacement fighter for Creed, they suggested that he postpone the fight to July 4th (Independence Day) to which Creed said no cuz EVERYONE will be doing something big on Independence Day 1976. Creed wanted the first fight to take place on Jan 1 1976 cuz then his fight would be the FIRST big event of the bicentennial year. So, "Rocky II" does take place 10 months later around Thanksgiving (November 1976).
Oh boy, you got to get through to the 6th movie. It could serve as a sequel to the first, and you’d still get a great fully realized story, but it’d be a darn shame to skip the other films.
@@maximillianosaben Oh no. For sure. The one I like the least is number 5. Many really likes it though. But I still think its important to the story of Rocky.
My daughter came out with just as much hair or maybe even more. She was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Even until this this day I've never seen such a bright star. I look for the light when I'm feeling down and she guides me in the right direction every time. My little north star.
15:30 - It was a lightweight title fight in 1982; Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini vs Duk Koo Kim. Kim was an underdog like Rocky and fought his heart out, but began to lose out in the later rounds. Still, he bravely fought on in spite of that, refusing to go down. After finally being knocked out in the 14th round, he collapsed into a coma, passing away 5 days later. The World Boxing Council would shorten its championship fights to 12 rounds that very year, with other sanctioning bodies not doing the same until 1987.
Southpaw stance is when the right foot is in front and you're jabbing with the right hand. This allows you to get the most leverage for the power shots with the dominant hand, the left hand.
As you two follow the whole series you realize that this a love story not between him and Adriane but with everyone that cross Rocky's path including Apollo and beyond.
Yay!! My favorite Canadians finally back with my favorite sports movie franchise. (I say favorite Canadians cause even tho I'm American I've watched a ridiculous amount of Canadian shows. Lol)
The Fighters name was DukKoo Kim who died after a brutal 15 round match with Ray "Boom Boom Mancini in 1982. I remember watching the fight, I think it was on ABC Sports . After he passed it was decided to change title matches from 15 rounds to 12 due to serious injuries seemed to happen in the later rounds after prolonged damage throughout a fight. It was a very sad day in sports when Kim passed .
Prob a mix of the amazing music, montages, wicked fights, and how sincere and kind Rocko is that make these movies legendary. 'yo adrian!' will forever be a fun meme and sly did great with all these movies :D
When Mickey got on rocky about his vision earlier on, he was talking about his peripheral vision was extremely limited. He can’t see a punch coming from the left side I think which can lead to permanent damage and possible blindness. And fyi rocky didn’t switch it up to south paw later. Throwing a left isn’t southpaw. South paw is his stance and lead right hand.
IMO Rocky had to win that way, because that's what (at least the early) movies are about. A regular guy who life keeps knocking down, and he wins by just never giving up. He keeps getting back up -- that's who he is.
While I've been watching the Rocky movies since the 1983 when I was 9, I recently rewatched them all... (Rocky 1,2,3,4,5,6, Creed 1,2 and 3) its gonna be super fun for your guys to watch them all in a short time.
Rocky and Apollo fought the first time on New Year's day of 1976, 1976 was the bicentennial celebration of the United States. So for the entire year they celebrated USA's 200th birthday. The fight was supposed to kick off the bicentennial year.
The reason he was training with his left arm . Was bcuz when you are a southpaw the left is your power shot. So you tend to keep your left hand cocked back and jab and block with the right and wait for the opening to throw the power left. So to switch it. You gotta learn to jab and block with the left and keep the right cocked back for the power shot. So he tied his right hand down so he would learn to jab with his left and keep his left in the lead. And the right in reserve. When your southpaw you keep your right in the lead. And the left in reserve.
Absolutely adore this movie, I get a lump in the throat when Adrian woke up & told Rocky ''Win''! I can't watch the training montage without thinking of the edit of Rocky punching the kids at the top of the stairs - & I was this time.... & then you guys edit it in!!: think I startled my neighbours with how hard I laughed!! One request: I know what people say about '5', but PLEASE do the whole series before going into Creed - you won't regret it!
Rocky has bad defense but he is very tough and can take a lot of damage. Apollo is clearly the better fighter but his ego lost him a fight he could have easily won. Rocky gets better at fighting in the next movie so can’t wait for y’all to react to that!
Rocky’s vision issue isn’t from them cutting his eye. It was more than likely from the punches to the head messed with the optical nerves which cause the peripheral blindness. When they cut the eye they make a small cut in the eyelid to release the blood pooling up. In all fairness to Apollo in the first fight he thought it was a exhibition fight and didn’t take it too seriously in preparing.
They changed it to 12 rounds bc people were getting brain damage and dying. Part of the reason Rocky's fighting was so bad at first is bc he's a southpaw but he's fighting right handed. It's a totally different stance that puts your power punch in front where the jab should be, trying to protect his bad eye. Good thing Rocky has a chin of steel
Wrong. If your south-paw, your power hand is at the back foot and your right foot is in front, and right is the jabbing hand. This is the boxing stance. Your talking about the JKD stance where your most powerful should be forward and jabbing.
Everytime you talk about hate in the comments, I roll my eyes and think "Why do people leave nasty comments?" You're a nice couple watching movies. How is that stirring up rage? I'll never understand it.
As I'm sure we told you, Butkus was really Stallone's dog, but he died for real and this was his last movie 😢 Stallone said in a interview Butkus is still his desktop wallpaper 😊
About the lefty vs righty boxing stance you were confused with, they showed that correctly. When you're a south-paw as Rocky, your strongest is your left-hand. Boxing stance puts your strongest hand on your back foot-- so your right is forward as a south-paw-- consequently, your right hand should be jabbing, while putting your strongest hand in reserve. If your going to fight right-handed, your left should be forward and jabbing hand is the left. Rocky was practicing his left jab which is correct if your fighting as right-handed.
Watch Creed before the Rocky Saga is kinda weird, but ok. The important thing is that now you are getting to know this Universe. A hello from Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Some people just wanna take a movie in without having to "do the homework". Nothing wrong with that. Hell, "Creed" did its job if they can still understand what's going on without any prior backstory, and if it's made them want to go back and see everything from the beginning.
He didn’t block because he was not a right handed fighter, wasn’t used to it, plus his peripheral vision. That’s what I tell myself to keep from getting pissed lmao
Great reaction to a classic sequel, fun fact Apollo was created in the likeness of Muhammad Ali and Rocky was inspired by a Boxer by the of Chuck Wepner.
Every Rocky film from 1-5 has a certain message or type of character development. Most people don’t like 5 and say to skip it but it’s actually well written in terms of his character. It’s a different aspect in each one. Definitely worth the watch
Some Jethro said Apollo Creed was past his prime before the 1st fight😅, this yoyo was upset he lost so he makes an excuse for a fictional character!!!😂😂😂
I saw you nearly cried Justin. It's ok,If you don't get emotional at that last scene your not human or you haven't watched both movies. Now you both see the Greatness of the Rocky franchise. It's just beginning!
They did lower the rounds after a panic run. The 15 rounds did not kill Kim. Both defenseless fighters, Mancini a hard puncher, Kim a huge chin but light puncher vs major contenders so he absorbed so much. If he had a punch no question he could have knocked out Mancini by all the punches thru instead he took a pumelling standing up.

You gotta learn to jab and block with the left and keep the right cocked back for the power shot. So he tied his right hand down so he would learn to jab with his left and keep his left in the lead. And the right in reserve. When your southpaw you keep your right in the lead. And the left in reserve.

Just a scratch, compared to what happened to him in Robocop (toxic waste stuff) 😉
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
I love watching you guys react to nothing but classics 👏🤝🤝💪🔥
Rocky’s vision issue isn’t from them cutting his eye. It was more than likely from the punches to the head messed with the optical nerves which cause the peripheral blindness. When they cut the eye they make a small cut in the eyelid to release the blood pooling up. In all fairness to Apollo in the first fight he thought it was a exhibition fight and didn’t take it too seriously in preparing.
Those iron jungle gyms.....we called it "The Thunderdome"
the kids getting punched was priceless:,D Loved the reaction and the first one:)
“He’s going to be a dad? HIM?” What a ignorant comment
$37,000 USD in 1976 is worth about $200,000 USD today.
Creed 3 this New Movie y'all need to watch
Some people just wanna take a movie in without having to "do the homework". Nothing wrong with that. Hell, "Creed" did its job if they can still understand what's going on without any prior backstory, and if it's made them want to go back and see everything from the beginning.
41:02 I was like wtf, you thought no one would notice, but I did and lmfaoo
Watch 5 and 6 as well don't just stop at 4 need to finish it off
the edit at the to of stair's was unexpected but we'll played 😂😂
He didn’t block because he was not a right handed fighter, wasn’t used to it, plus his peripheral vision. That’s what I tell myself to keep from getting pissed lmao
Finally my favorite Rocky Movie
Great reaction to a classic sequel, fun fact Apollo was created in the likeness of Muhammad Ali and Rocky was inspired by a Boxer by the of Chuck Wepner.
I had that car. Mine was blue. My dad gave it to me
For graduation. I quickly proceeded to destroy it. I loved that car. Finally totaled it in 1982.
Every Rocky film from 1-5 has a certain message or type of character development. Most people don’t like 5 and say to skip it but it’s actually well written in terms of his character. It’s a different aspect in each one. Definitely worth the watch
You forgot 6.
And 6?
@@carladavis1473 I’ve only seen up to 5
I can’t not rewatch those kids getting knocked the F out. Lol I watched it like 10 times.
You jab with your weaker hand so mick was getting rocky to jab with his stronger hand
you could tell by jane's eyes that she was really freaking out watching the scene where rocky was trying to convince adrian to by the 2 story place
Thanks Justin and Jane for your reactions. Please do Rocky 3 next and keep the series going. You Guys Rock!!
Some Jethro said Apollo Creed was past his prime before the 1st fight😅, this yoyo was upset he lost so he makes an excuse for a fictional character!!!😂😂😂
he has to locate his opponents by the sound of them punching him in the head.. its sonar
Just watch all the Rockies
Y'all wild... This is the footage from the first movie 😂😂
I saw you nearly cried Justin. It's ok,If you don't get emotional at that last scene your not human or you haven't watched both movies. Now you both see the Greatness of the Rocky franchise. It's just beginning!
Hey, i loved your reaction. Just great reaction to a great movie.
