Spare tire in 2021. This is WHY I love this brand :) And the funnel was also WOW. Never know when need. Maybe you don`t always have around a 0.5L bottle of Coke or something to cut it and make a funnel. Or a swiss knife with you. One thing bothers me: Where is the manual 6-speed transmission? Or I guess this is the USA.

The increased road noise is expected from a Sport trim model vehicle with wider tires, but it was noted by another reviewer that the Touring, and I believe probably the EX has increased sound deadening insulation materials as part of the amenities and added options. That's not an issue for me, as I would play the stereo anyway.
And yes, those funnels are for the gas tank as mentioned in other comments. And the Speedometer is a real analog gauge, the Tachometer and information center on the left is a digital display
This is a lower version of the 4 trims, but not quite the bare bones entry level of the LX, which is still not too shabby, especially over the previous generation.
At the same price for the LX and Sport as the previous generation model, it's a good concession, albeit, this newer sport trim loses the fog lights, previously not LED, the leatherette door and center console armrests, and the 60/40 split folding rear seat.
Pretty much everything is a carryover from the previous Sport version except for the upgrades and refinements, styling and design, etc.
The Sport is a definite upgrade from the LX that is well worth the price, especially if you are more Sport enthusiast oriented, but even nicer in general for the masses with what you get for the upgrade from LX.
You get all the other basic Sport handling and appearance gear from the top level Touring trim, with an optional HPD Honda Performance Edition exterior appearance package with a body kit, rear deck lid spoier and blacked out emblem trim, but it looks fine as is.
You just don't get the leather, power adjust seats, sunroof, outside mirror turn signal lights and added perks like the fancier instrument panel, larger entertainment system display, the wireless phone charging/Apple Carplay & Android Auto, and only one USB port, dual zone A/C, and premium Bose Stereo that is nice, and a bummer not to have, but for $5K less. I could live with that, unless I could afford to get the Touring trim, or the Sport Touring Hatchback, or even the Sport Hatchback for a little more if it has the same equipment, with the option of a 6 speed manual.
As far as the Bose system, it is acoustically designed and optimized for this car, but you could always upgrade the Sport system with a DSP processor, amplifiers, speakers, subwoofer to the extent you desire and can afford. I would probably go with Rockford Fosgate, JBL Club, or Sony Mobile ES.
And yes, the two upper trim levels have the upper level 1.5L turbo engine with 20 more horsepower. But, the N/A 2.0L engine is ultimately more reliable over time, especially if you tend to push your car's performance. So to me, the larger displacement N/A is preferable, unless I could spring for the Touring.
The power is adequate, and is just as fast as my 1984 Buick Grand National I had for 0-60 , with a 3.8L V6 turbo, or my 2000 Chevy Impala LS with the same size N/A engine. But the Civic is about just as roomy inside, with good trunk space in a more compact vehicle, which I now prefer.
What would be really nice is if the Si could have an optional detuned version of the 2.0L Turbo Type R engine from the Accord Sport and Touring trims. That would make it really special for enthusiast drivers, and it is more affordable, comfortable and practical as a daily driver than the Type R, which is mostly for die hard enthusiasts/collectors that can afford it, modify and race it.
Si buyers would not have to modify their cars much for the extra power over the 1.5L turbo from the previous version.
The Civic Sport is the sweet spot best buy all around, with the superior reliability, longevity and durability and quality control over the other brands, along with Toyota, but had better handling dynamics and steering feel and design refinements over the Corolla SE/XSE.
I would get this, and plan to, as I mentioned, unless I could get the Touring, or Sport/Sport Touring Hatchback.
It is the same price as the 2021 HR-V Sport which is nice, and has even much more practical cargo utility, but not the new refinements, and 20 less horsepower.
The previous Civic Sport Sedan is still nice, but the updates, and more mature and refined styling is great.

As a 10th gen owner with the same powertrain, I agree it's incredibly refined and that the engine (and CVT) essentially disappear into the background. The mechanicals do their job so well that there is no drama or excitement. With the 10th Gen, it was styling alone that made the car interesting. Now that it looks like everything else I worry that the whole car is just going to be boring.

  • @ArcoZakus

( 10:11 ) ( 12:29 ) Road noise: the Touring model got extra sound insulation that was left out of the Sport trim. Less expensive, less weight. 18" wheels don't help, either. It would be nice to see a side-by-side comparison of an LX (16" wheels), Sport, and Touring to see if the differences are noticeable.

That's a very impressive car . As for road noise I think it's partially the tires . My Kia Niro came with 18 inch tires and while they were good tires I still saw a smoother quieter ride when I switched to 16 inch tires . My gas mileage also increased around 7% . A lot of people want big wheels and tires . I'd rather have a smoother quieter ride .

Great review!! I REALLY wanted the sport due to it being cheaper and more aggressive looking (With the black trim and wheels) but unfortunately there were no sports anywhere I went. Ended up getting the touring which is nice but the extra gadgets and buttons are unnecessary for a simple guy like me. Overall, I love it! Got it when it only had 29 miles on it. Still feels brand new every day.

The 11th generation exterior / interior looks way better than the 10th gen. The look has a grown up look. It has a Euro luxury vibe look to it and will have more mass appeal. The 10th gen exterior has a very polarizing look. You either hate or love it when you first set your eyes on it. I hated the look of the 10th gen at first, then over the years I kinda warmed up to it. When I first look at the 11th gen, I absolutely loved the look of it.

dont know why but the car reminds me of a few cars in terms of looks. Camry, Jetta, and an Impreza. maybe if they decided to compliment the front by making the car 2 door it may have looked a bit better. it may have even looked like a newer version of the 90s-93 civic. The interior is beautiful and simplistic, cant get enough from looking at it.

Update : I have ordered one of these bad boys from the factory in the pretty new blue. Gonna trade the Type R for it. Note to all of you young bucks who want a sports car as you're daily. Be sure you have a well paying job and a proper garage to keep her in. I love my Type R but as a daily she's become a source for more stress than joy. I'll miss her but a new, reliable Civic Sport that will be 100% in my name is the way to go. Growing up is about making the responsible choices. Maybe I'll have a Type R again one day but for now the sport sedan just seems like the best move.

I don't know why everyone keeps repeating that you can't get a 6MT in the sedan. It's coming in the Si. At this point, the only reason MTs exist is for the enthusiast driver and Honda knows those people don't want a 2.0L 158 HP engine. They want the 1.5T tuned to 200+ HP they ship with the Si. I'm hoping they bump the power up to 220 for this generation, but seems like Honda's likely to carry over all their engines from the previous generation. Maybe a power bump to 210.

    • @Bartonovich52
      @Bartonovich52 3 роки тому

They are also for people who want a cheap car that’s fun to drive and don’t want a CVT.
The difference between the base engines and more powerful engines is hardly anything to write home about. They are still getting wasted by a V6 Camry at the lights.

With how many entries in this segment are becoming overstyled, I actually think the conservative aesthetic is an asset. Clean, simple and classy like Honda’s of old! Hopefully Honda improved the manual from the prior gen, though. Prior gen garden variety manual Civics were no bueno! That was a big factor in why I just went for a Mazda3 hatch manual in this segment.
