Thanks for watching!
Love the laid back vibe of your channel. Too many car youtubers are shouting and making stupid jokes, love that you are just speaking honestly and off-the-cuff and letting the cars do the "talking" most of the time. Cheers.
Yup, I can't stand Ratti or Demuro content. Yours and SG are the best, followed by Muzio IMO.
@@25rsimp same, same, same
At the end of the day everyone is just being themselves...some will like it,some will not... that just comes with being a creator on this platform
We all have different personalities I just listen to gather information on the car
i appreciate that you actually talk about what its like to use this car the way most people will. I like that you actually give time to the sound system as so many people find themselves driving alone listening to something. everyone else seems to gloss over things like that and just list specs and move on. thank you for helping me make a more informed purchase.
Hearing you sing such praise for the CVT inspires a lot of confidence. Thanks for your coverage on these cars.
"You meet the nicest people in a honda" I think they are bringing this motto back
I am in love with the current gen Civic Hatch. A certified pre-owned in several years will be my next car.
I was never a fan of the UI sticking out in cars, but Honda really made it look good. The interior of the new civic overall is just so cohesive and minimalistic. I love it
honda r fans of mazda lol
This is the best channel for car reviews. Topher is so well spoken and smooth with the videos. It is genuinely a pleasant experience and I like his knowledge on the different cars
The Civic is definitely still the benchmark.
Its definitely not
@@TK-mh8dn what is?
What are we benchmarking? Daily drivers, sports cars? There's better options for both.
Please tell you’re joking.
@@ErectileSceptile regular people, regular lives
this mans reviews are so chill and gentle. im not even a car guy but his videos are so nice.
I’ve had my 2022 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring for 5 days and I am absolutely in love with the car! So fun to drive and the interior along with the accessories are amazing.
is it zippy?
i got sonic gray pearl today! i love the car so far!
Does it have a automatic transmission? :O
Got one too few days and im surprised the interior is really nice almost better than my 2021 lexus is 350 😅
I have a 2021 accord 2.0t touring and I have to say you are one of the reason I bought that car, they knocked it out of the park with the looks of the new civic, I may have gotten this had I waited an extra year, thanks for the awesome review!
I own a 22 civic si, and this looks very similar. These new 11th gen civics are ahead of the game when it comes to comfort and fun. I love the deep growl the engine makes at low revs across all civic models.
I have a 2015 Civic sedan with a CVT, still pretty reliable! It has 81k miles...I wish i had the new one tho!! it looks so nice. Change the CVT fluid and it will last a while. The S.I. is more sporty to drive but the automatic is really smooth and comfy :)
How often did you change your honda CVT? Nissan CVTs suck but idk about Hondas
@@ASBIIIT every 30,000 miles
@@ASBIIIT Depending on how hard you drive it, I changed mine with every other engine oil change or every single engine oil change. It’s really not that expensive, considering a damaged gearbox and/or trans would be costing like hundreds+ times as much to repair. Changing trans fluid and gear oil prematurely, is much much more reasonable if you drive your car under hard/harsh conditions. Changing it earlier never hurts. If anything, you’re doing yourself a MASSIVE favor with the car maintenance, and the profit return will pay itself off with time.
@@isnowyazn really? I heard it cost at least 400$ and if you change that often, wow
2015 with only 81k miles? Man thats great.
Nice night time video - thanks! I just put a deposit down this afternoon on a Sport Touring HB (CVT) in Sonic Gray Pearl here in Myrtle Beach, SC, and it will be made at the Indiana Greenburg factory in the next couple of days. I did months of research and selected this as my daily driver. I am so excited! Thanks for all the test drives you've done on this model - it helped a lot!
The Sonic Gray Pearl is a stunning color, you will love it man, I have it on my Honda Accord Sport 2.0T. The new Civic design will look great with it I'm sure!
@@magnez5057 I'm already planning to black out the badges so I can have a grey/black look going - lol
@@robertevans3604 Yeah man I don't get why they keep the chrome trim around the windows on the sport trims, I need to get it blacked out on my Accord too I haven't gotten round to it yet
Keep us posted on how you like the CVT once you finally get it, congrats 🍾
I bought a crystal black pearl on beginning of October. Was told it’ll be start building in couple days weeks and will be shipped straight from Japan excited.
Got my Civic Hatchback Touring about a week ago and absolutely love it! Very sporty and though CVT's aren't the most exciting transmissions to drive the 11th gen Civic really is an enjoyable ride. They really nailed these new cars - the interior especially.
How’s the average mpg looking like so far
@@traolin5877 it’s like 32 mpg or so
@@yungfrancis777 in what mode lol?
curious to know if your fan runs (after you turn off the engine) after driving the car hard? My 22 VW GTI(2.0T) does that and not only that but does that as well if it's very hot outside. My former co-workers Kia Forte GT (1.6T) does that as well.
This is the one I've been waiting for!! I got a CVT hatch sport touring that'll be here in a few weeks. Until then, I'll be watching this video on repeat to get ready 😂
What color did you decide on?
@@robertevans3604 I got the Sonic Grey Pearl
@@bcuziwasbored Great choice...same here.
@@robertevans3604 nice! One of my neighbors has a '21 Accord in the same color and I think it looks great on the new Civic.
Think Im gonna get one in boost blue that colour is sharp lol
I ended up getting the Touring Sedan 2 days ago, and I have to say I love just about everything in the car. There isn’t anything I can complain about, I’m extremely happy with my purchase.
pls be honest, how's the car been since? any issues? any complaints (personal or minor)? did it met your needs? is it fast enough? i'm seriously considering buying one for keeps for the long run
@@eltren6120 it’s been pretty amazing, no issues or complaints so far. it’s met my needs and ive taken 3 12 hour trips in it with no issues. I highly recommend, I really enjoy the Bose sound system. I played it safe and got an oil change and tire rotation at 8000 miles but it can go 10000
@@eltren6120 it goes fast enough for me but it’s definitely not a sports car
Got my 23 Sport Touring Hatch about a month ago - fresh off the truck with 1 mile on it. My test drive was taking it to fill it up with gas on the dealers card.
I absolutely love this car. Traded in a 7 year old 2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.0t Limited with 126k on it. Gave up size and power but I LOVE the more compact size of this thing - looking back that Sonata was a BOAT
I agree. The bigger the car the harder to drive and the very small cars feel claustrophobic inside. But the civic is a nice middle ground not too big and not too small.
I am going to test drive the exact same today. How are you liking it? Noisy cabin? Is it peppy? I would be trading in a 2019 Accord Sport 2.0T and am really anxious because I know it is a downgrade on performance, but the Civic Touring is such an upgrade with the interior and that is really pulling at me.
@@angelajudkins6817 I understand you love your 2019 10th generation style accord. That generation was a nice style. I almost went with the last few 2022 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T. But I went with the 2023 civic sport touring and I love it! Has so many great features. It blows the new Honda accord out of the water.
Great review as always Topher! :) You always cover exactly what I want to know. I'm surprised at how positive the reception has been for the CVT! I've personally never driven a "good" CVT, so I can't wait to drive this, and hopefully the si will continue to build on this solid product.
Honda's CVTs are absolutely brilliant. Not like Subaru 😂
@@magnez5057 I can attest, the Subaru CVTs are absolute shite!
I own a 2023 Civic 1.5T EX, the CVT is very smooth and comfortable. It complements the engine and chassis well. It's extremely smooth in parking lots and an absolute lifesaver in stop-and-go traffic, where many transmissions, including other types of automatics, can become jumpy and jerky. It doesn't have that "motorboat" feeling that you find with some CVT vehicles, rather, the CVT+engine combo almost feels like an "on/off" switch if that makes any sense.
Honda makes such great cars
Anyone on the edge with the CVT...I've been "beating" on my 2020 Civic CVT Sport Hatchback since new, currently has 17,000 miles of harsh, harsh, driving. I do aggressive city acceleration, traffic runs, random foot to the floors for no reason, more city driving in the grid, and highway runs. During winter the abuse is tripled as we got a lot of snow today and my 1 hour inner city commute was me with traction control off, manual gear 1 mode, and foot stomping on the gas rapidly to get out of the snow banks at every single light. I truly am not kind to my cars (my old cars can attest to this), but unsurprisingly this CVT is holding up like a trooper. Would definitely recommend. REMBMER TO CHANGE YOUR CVT FLUID though and if you end up going with another manufacturer other than Honda and Toyota, BE CAUTIOUS OF THE CVTs they offer, especially Nissan.
I see you posted this 6 mo ago. How is the engine and tranny holding up still?
@@bkhavityoway23 Currently at 25,000 miles. Everything is still very smooth! Gets onto the highway without problem, no jerkiness. City driving in grid is the only place where the cvt isn't happy sometimes when you have to stop, go, stop go.
@@BigRobChicagoPL Happy to hear! I just picked up a 2022 Honda Civic Sport 2.0NA, I like it! I do think it's a little slow but I don't drive on the interstate too much or try to race peope lol. I wanted reliability of the K20 so I swapped from a 1.5T. I hear you on the CVT though, inside the city it is a hair jerky. Weird, because my Accord 1.5T never did that! Do you know if the CVT transmissions are the same between the Civic and the Accord or is the Accord's better/beefier?
I’m watching this video every night until I get one I fell in love with this car and this channel is great to keep up the good work
A month ago I got this car, same color and trim. Absolutely love it, such a smooth and fun drive, comfortable interior. Although my only real comparison is my 2003 Malibu that I had from 16 years old til 21 this year lol
Ok, im sold. Officially from tommorow I start to save money, but for the sedan. I prefer sedans over hatchbacks.
I got mine a month ago, its so much fun
Same
Idk why sedans, there's so much space in the hatch
Or u can buy a corvette 2010
@@boogeyman423 sedan looks less ugly.
I'm in love with the new Civics. It's pretty handsome.
That's light years quicker infotainment startup than the Acura RDX 2021. Jeez
lol I guess that’s why people pay extra for some fancy animation
Finally, Honda does idle stop properly. Stays off when shifted to park, unlike our 2019 RDX.
Yeah, its annoying in my 2010 civic hybrid aswell
Starting to think this with a 6MT is the better choice over an SI after the reveal yesterday....
Nice car, nice video!
i just bought the 2023 version of this & its amazing my first car brand spanking new right off the show room floor woooooooo baby
That's my dream car. Everyday I work so hard to reach it.
Honestly all round beautiful and powerful car i love it and I'm getting this honda
the hatchback is growing on me
I'm really interested in this exact trim and hatchback form......but the 1.5L Turbo worries me of the major oil dilution problem they have in the 2017 to 2020 year......and Honda has never made a big statement that they fixed it up
Too bad these cost an insane amount in my country, my '98 civic is in the process of rotting into dust and I'm not sure it's economical to keep it alive anymore
25k the taxes on this car in my country Palestine 🇵🇸
Decided to get this instead of the si because of availability! Have my black one coming in Sept and I can’t wait. This review makes me happy with my decision to purchase. Great review Topher.
Nice choice! If I was to get this car I would also get it in black as it looks so nice in that color all blacked out.
1:21 doesn't seem too bad to me. Seems pretty normal in terms of boot up time compared to the competition.
Wow, not even turning 2k @ 70MPH. I am really liking this new Honda hatch, even with the CVT (Never had an import that was anything but a manual).
last week i just bought a 21 Touring Accord I need the larger car but These civics up close man.....Honda really did a good job with them. my dealer had a Touring silver civic in the showroom. I just wish my Accord had that Bose sound system.
Clean car 😮💨 I love how chill ur reviews r!
I really wanted an Si hatchback but I suppose that's what the Integra is gonna basically be. Hopefully the Integra won't be too expensive, although insurance definitely won't be cheap.
Weird..... I was wanting them to make the 2 door Si again..... You strange people with your families and practical concerns .
@@turner4243 I would've gone for a coupe too, loved the way that the last gen Si coupe looked. I'm just wanting a hatchback now since Honda completely discontinued the coupe.
@@turner4243 Sorry, I have friends that I'd like to comfortably give rides to sometimes, I definitely need the extra two doors. I'd never understood the obsession with coupes, they're pointless. They don't always look better than the sedan/hatchback versions and they don't perform better either since they still carry a backseat.
@@eksentrysyti I was joking really I understand it’s reasonable and all. Although as an anti social person I don’t worry so much about having company in my car. Idk in my opinion coupes look better, although for some reason the type R looks pulls the 4 door thing well. When I drive a coupe it makes it feel like it’s a drivers car like it’s meant to be enjoyed as a driving experience. Just looking at it you can tell it’s like “practical? Not so much? Cool looking? Yes” for some reason that appeals to me idk and im not the only one. Although I will say even I don’t think the Miata would be something I’d consider as my only car and it’s for practical reason. However if I had enough money it would be a cool weekend car.
I wonder if they'll put the CVT on the Integra.
Even without ambient lighting it's looks so vibrant
I just got my 2023 Honda Civic Sport in this Rallye Red. It’s a more mature and sexy design. Love it!
I used to have one but 2019. Not seeing much changes here but I did jump ship to a Stinger and holy hell I didn't know how much I was gonna love twin turbos lol
I got my hatchback sport touring yesterday was in the dealership for like 2 hrs just negotiating got it as a lease for 3 yrs, 12,000 miles a yr with a 350 a month payment and 130 full coverage, no money down i had positive equity trading in my base 2019 civic what you guys think?.Trust me, the resale value on this civic in the end will be crazy good you will have so many options.
How do you like this sport touring hatchback? Man I have a sports car for the last 2 years and I know this might sound crazy, but I think I want something comfortable now and nice as well
Great video and review as usual Topher. I’ll be waiting for the CX-50 to come out, obviously going to be more expensive, but this is a compelling enough car for what we are looking for as a daily driver to replace a 2006 Subaru. Trying to get back into a reasonable sized car with great driving dynamics and this seems to hit the mark. It is also plenty big enough for two with occasional adults in back and great packaging for hauling a small dog crate and equipment for road trips.
The Bose speakers are nice but don't play them loud a lot because I blown two of them in my doors and it takes about a month to get them into replace them and once they blow they make the whole stereo system sound like crap
I still cannot stand the fake shifts. Look at a Camry Hybrid. Smooth, hits peak RPM, no one complains about that.
They really should have put auto up/down on all four windows. Volkswagen's been doing it for ages.
That CVT works really fine!
Sold! Been looking for a new daily driver and been eyeballing the new Civic Hatchback or the new VW Jetta. I do like the interior on the Civic a lot. Thanks for a great night review.
I think I'm in love with Hondas :O
8:12 for sound system test.
Iv seen 2016 CVT civic with over 400K . Honda will always be reliable/
if honda add interior lighting to some of their mid priced vehicle that would be icing on the cake for me
Will you drive and review old cars? I love watching these
You're making me want to buy this car 😂 I love Hondas, theyre my favorite cars 😍 I already have a civic sedan but Im tempted to get a hatch now haha
Got my permit yesterday I’ve been saving for a car since I had my job I’m probably gonna get a 2019 :)
It’s growing on me, but I already have a ‘14 civic and Im currently looking for a new car and I am 100% sure I don’t want another civic 😂
It would be nice to see the new civic sedan with a manual. I appreciate how manufactures are at least attempting to go back to their roots when in it comes to driving experience. The dash reminds me of both new and old school something like Subaru and Toyota have also been doing well at lately.
no more Si sedan?
@@ogmechsftw well Civic has pretty much always been a hatchback style since like 2007. I never been a fan of hatch or cross over or SUV crap, the new 2022 Civic actually has a sedan variant but I’ve yet to see any with a manual or sport version .
By the time these are finally available because of the chip shortage it will probably be refreshed and ruined lol
Can't wait to see what the Integra will be like especially if it's a luxury type R type of car
Topher, since you drove both cars which would you pick between the Sonata N Line and the Civic hatchback CVT? I know they are in a different segment but as far as a daily driver which would you prefer?
Very thorough, enjoyable review. THANKS !
That chime is lit
I have a 2010 civic sedan and will definitely be getting this one with the hbd, likely in the blue color, once i am in a spot to purchase one.
I have no idea why im watching this when i already own the car myself lol.
Same lol. I already own this 2022 hatchback sport touring and I love it. I don’t know why I’m watching the reviews again. lol
What did you pay for yours I test drove one yesterday it was priced right at 30 but I’m thinking I should wait till the end of 22 once the price starts to drop on them
If only I could get a 10th gen exterior with a 11th interior.. That would be the best daily car ever.
I think the manual would be more fun but I am crazy about this car... I love it. I think it would be a lot of fun to rip around in
HONDA THE POWER OF DREAMS
ready for you to get the 2022 Si and see if the rev hang has improved
I highly doubt Honda’s gonna be removing or decreasing rev hang, like ever…. Especially if they tune the CTR to have a bit of rev hang AND include a clutch delay valve (CDV).
I noticed when you used your right turn signal there was no right view blind spot that popped up on the screen. Did they get rid of this feature from the previous gens?
That screen is insane!!
Thank you for your video.
Really nice review
I hope you can get your hands on a kia k5 2022
The base model is so good I’m wondering which model honda is expecting to be the higher volume model.
If they put the 10 speed auto in the civic, they would sell like crazy. Had to be a CVT tho. At least honda makes a pretty decent cvt, if there is such a thing
Did you feel that the CVT is sluggish compared to an automatic transmission? I somehow feel that Honda is killing their vehicles with CVT. First, Nissan came out with CVTs and a lot of people had a problem with them. Now, Honda is following suit. Also, coupling a turbo to a 1.5L engine seems like a joke. It must have been a 2.0L + turbo + automatic/manual to deliver some real punch and promise.
Honda makes theirs in house and is far more reliable than Nissan (not sure if they still outsource theirs) and as for the turbo in a 1.5L pretty sure it’s like that to not outcompete the SI
@@nicholasnguyen6001 Yeah, makes sense.
Topher is best
Would you recommend The Sport Touring hatchback over the Touring sedan ?
I still love the 10th gen appeareance a looot more than the new one. I don't like the front look of it.
100% agree with you man ( maybe my profile pic gives it away Haha )
It’s a mixed bag. I like the overall side profile and rear end way better than the previous gen, but the 10th gen front looks better.
We get the new Jazz (Fit) here and it also has a funny front, the previous gen was better.
@@zeroyon4562 don't you like the boomerang back lights? In my opinion that's one of the best parts of the car.
And you're right, the new Fit looks really funny. Seems like it is the new objective of Honda, make funny cars with that horrible notch in the middle of the front
@@fredypalacios8742 Not so much. I’m not hot on the small rear wing on the RS model we get here either.
I’m a long time Honda owner, I currently have an Accord Euro CL9, and a base model new civic sedan is probably going to replace it.
I just hate the engine cabin audio, fake air vents and electric parking brake
Great review of this great car. Do you mind cranking up the volume before publishing? Signal level is not enough for the Pixel phones :/
The sedan is Made in the USA or Canada (?)
But hatchback is imported from Japan, right?
How has this car been since you last recorded this video
1:30 No where near as bad how long it takes for the tlx information to boot. Love that car but it takes a long time to boot the screen
Does this generation of Civic unlock by putting your hand on the inside of the door handle like the 10th gen Civics?
If you had to choose between this and Accord which one would you select? I love the Accord but the 2.0 is nearly impossible to find.
I am researching and test driving cars, which one would you buy between Toyota GR86 2022 and Honda Hatchback 2022 Automatic ? I am fully aware they are completely different cars, I am torn between the 2.
I would be open to getting the automatic if it wasn’t a CVT.
Just get a Forte then lol.
@@boygonewhoopdataZZ I’ll stick with my WRX unless something better comes out in the same price range.
Elantra N. Not a hatch sadly
Is there a difference between the drive of the hatch and the sedan?
Ur the best:)
Would you take this over the Acura Integra? Worth the price difference?
I enjoy your car review format, my only dislike is the inconsistency of your volume selection during the audio portion of the reviews. I understand the need to "speak" to add thoughts on the characteristics of the sound system, but a reference or max distortion level would give clarity when comparing sound systems of other vehicles you review. An example would be the CX-30's Bose compared to this one, it was difficult for me to gauge the 2 systems fairly. In the CX-30's Bose review, as well as others, it seems you played each track at a "louder" volume for a "longer" duration uninterrupted in comparison to this Civic's Bose. Perhaps my point is a bit biased towards the smaller audiophile crowd compared to you mainstream audience but imo this tweak in format would make your reviews "perfect"...at least to me.👍
Great video. I wouldn’t compare it to the Mazda CX-30 though. I would compare it to the Mazda 3 instead. The Honda HR-V is more of a Mazda CX-30 competitor
Are the windows down ? Or just the wind/noise
Is the steering the same weight as the 10th gen or is it lighter? I like my heavy steering and wasn’t sure if this was changed in the new civic
So is it slower than the previous Gen tho ? A lot of people are saying it is ? I may pick one up.
Want this car! Getting is hopefully in December on my birthday
Is there a significant difference between sport touring and regular touring? Or is the difference that one is a hatch and one is a sedan?
Was debating between one of the new ones of these or go for the later year the 2021, love the sport touring but I'm spoiled when it comes to the interior and wanna know if newer is better
