The Maroons life seem to be humble and peaceful living which may speak to why the crime is low. I wish the other parts of Jamaica would have the same mindset.
And with that said I think that’s why an outsider cannot just move in the area as they would like especially those with their bad behavior

King Kamehameha of Hawai obtained seedlings from Jamaica after the Hawaiian pineapple crop had to be destroyed after disease ravage Hawaiian pineapples! They now use these seedlings they got from Jamaica to restart the pineapples in Hawaii! I took a tour of the Pineapple fans back in the 80’s and our your guide explained the history of Hawaii pineapples and how Jamaican pineapples put them back in business! Big up to my little island and all the indigenous ppl of my country
People need to understand the rest of Jamaica had to get Independence from the British but the Maroons were already free so they didn't need the Independence which came with a Jamaican government because they had their own governing system already, were free, and had their own land. What the JA Gov't should do is give some support in terms of tourism for historical tours and ecotourism 👍🏼

I’m a maroon from the Rio Grandy valley in Portland and I’m so impress with the peacefulness of the maroons in their communities, can you imagine three murders in 15 years in that community and in the other parts of Jamaica that is 100% controlled by the Jamaican government with it’s military and police forces is having 38 murders in less than 14 days…. We need more maroon community.

We are all special to God Maroons. This incident was circumstantial. We are not responsible for not all being g "Maroons ". However, true freedom starts with Christ and the renewal of our minds qnd mental slavery. This one part of Jamaica history and we all have a story. Native Maroons food etc native . So they brought it from Africa when they arrived as slaves or did they come on a package holiday. Crap

Great job! I saw a Vice episode about the interest in mining in the Cockpit and areas close to the Maroon's territory and the maroons fighting against it. The Chief is a cool guy, he seem approachable and hands on with his duties and his constituents. I'd love to one day visit the Cockpit and one of these Maroon villages.

Big difference is the community relationships between residents. The cockpit country uses the same elder panel from our African roots and something my grandfather last did to run the church and family management in Morne Diablo, Trinidad and Tobago. We no longer live for community replacing that pride with self only not realizing that we diminished the goalposts and now complaining that life is hard.
One thing about rural Jamaica is that there are no dangerous insects or wild things to bite us like other warm places. Who inherited the land Queen Nanny received from the British? She was the only woman who received land from the British and she had no children.
And the good thing about Nanny she did not sign no treaty with the British, but held out until the end.
first I declare am not Jamaican am from barbados am also a subscriber to your channel ,likewise many other I follow, great content is always produced by youre channel that I submit to you, if Jamaica becomes independent away from the queen ,self goverened it supercedes the maroons and the treaty may not be taken seriously to protect the livity ,culture,flora, fauna, habitats and animals and the rights of all MAROONS , look at the dust issue bauxite and Russian company ,a deaf ear with infringed right to health and safety , yes finding of oil in any circumstance,means jobs and betterment of life GDP and quality of life and much more ,however contrary to that its the heart of Jamaica rivers source ,, I feel If there they find oil, corruption needs to be at lowest or wealth will be squandered off , and if there is a trained work force to take it out without super rich countries and without catastrophic spill remember oil and water nah mix, this I a blessing for Jamaica truly , all INTERNAL DECISIONS belongs to jamaica ,,,, maroons and gov must come to a complete understanding to avoid chaotic unwanted scenes ,,, I love Jamaica almost as much as barbados ,TREATIES BRINGS PEACE AND WARS. Oil wealth is really good and yet very dangerous. If they don't know, don't alert them, just my opinion and thought ...all this said Is to give awareness if Jamaica is NEXT FOR INDEPENDENCE that treaty could be ignored , theres lots more issues that could stem from other internal matters ,,have a formal gathering with friends family ectera , student uwi too... And you'll see I spoke only good ....regarding if if oil is known to be there with no crown full independence this is a serious topic byyyyyeeeeeeeee
