Bob, I think viewers are supportive of your hard work in the Comp event. Congrats!!!! Very nice Rainbow caught in this video, always note worthy that your custom tied flies are THE WINNING PATTERNS!!!!! Thank you.
Thanks! The comps in Colorado count as out of region for qualifying for me (Utah is in the western region), so I'm only able to count one out of region comp towards my qualifying points. So the decent result on the first day made the trip successful, without considering the valuable experience gained.
@@TroutFlies - Not as much as I would like, and unfortunately when I have I haven't been fishing waters I want to record. But hopefully Saturday. Your video makes me want to fish the Berry this Saturday! I have a setup I want to try out.
Yes. My usual leader system for this rig is: 1) Fly line to 4' of 16lb Fluorocarbon to a 2mm Tippet Ring; 2) 5' of .009 (2x or 8lb test) Fluorocarbon to a Triple Surgeon's Knot with a fly on the dropper tag; 3) 3-4' of .009 (2x or 8lb test) Fluorocarbon to a Triple Surgeon's Knot with a fly on the dropper tag; and 4) 3-4' of .009 (2x or 8lb test) Fluorocarbon to the point fly.
Cool video Bob with some nice thick fish! Your "Baitball pattern" rips lip! Kinda like fishing 3 KVD sluggos in line for Bass, but with flies on midge tip for trout. I'm sure the same rig would rip smallies here in Ut. Also good job on Comp! You can't catch 100 fish everyday, haha. Thanks for sharing and take care dude✌️ Steve

Thanks Vic! There will be plenty more comp content coming on the channel as well. I plan to get to as many as I can. They're fun.
Nice video Bob!!
Thanks! Good luck at that next set of Minis!
Really nice fish, Bob. Sorry to hear about the second day of the comp!

Productive day on the Berry Bob!
Yup! Been able to get out much Andrew?

Bob are you fishing that bait ball on what type of line? Midge tip mostly?
I was throwing this one on an intermediate. A midge tip would work also. I fish the Bobby version a lot on a sweep line as well.
I’m guessing you’ve already answered my question. How do you tie on multiple flys. Start with the point fly and add flys with triple surgeon knots?
Yes. Thanks Steve! Looking forward to improving and fishing more comps!
What brand of rods are you using?
My stillwater rods consist of a mix of Hardy Ultralites (10' 6wt, 10' 7wt) and Echo Stillwaters (10' 5wt)
