From an Irish fan, I think the arrogant thing is nonsense. Love the Scots and would love to see them win any day apart from this Sunday haha
😂
I agree that i have never found the Scottish fans to be arrogant. They support their team because what else should a supporter do?
Yeah most I have met tend to prepare for the worst rather than expect the best 😅 Even when they're in the lead, they're usually reacting with "We're in danger" 😅😅
The virgin media sports pundits that is Matt Williams, Shane Horgan and Rob Kearney love a bit of controversy. They hopped on some comments Stuart Hogg made a few years ago after a Scotland loss when he was a bit delusional thinking they had bossed the game. The media loves stuff like this and the run with it. Do people in Irish rugby in general think the Scots are arrogant? No. It’s almost comical. But it makes for good hype for the game I suppose.
@jmo8934 yeah it is definitely media stoked, stemming from player comments. Definitely nothing to do with their fans. In more recent times just before the 2023 World cup game, Kinghorn said "They have been on a good run of form recently, but we'll end that on Saturday." So that kind of stuff the media will eat up... especially when there is little to show for it.
I obviously might be biased being a auld long in tooth Scots rugby fan, but I have never heard the fans been called arrogant before, pessimistic, dour,or fun loving friendly supporters YES.
There is obviously niggle within the ranks on the players side because the URC boys especially the Glasgow boys compete on level terms with the three provinces and there is history with the 😂Munster players resulting in hand bags at dawn.
If Ireland were to decline for a few years, I would like to see Scotland take over. They have done a lot for rugby over 100 years with a very small player base. They deserve a break. I don't know how they get motivated with such bad/cold weather up there. May it be a great open game. Victor, Irish, Perth, Western Australia.
The arrogant Scots thing comes from the pre RWC charter where we've been in the same groups and they've talked about beating us and it being something they could easily achieve. POM had a few choice words for them off there back of their comments.
As an Irishman I wouldn't have expected them to do anything else, they needed to find some confidence from somewhere.
Talk on the pitch.
"Damn Scots... they ruined Scotland!!" - Groundskeeper Willie
Man that's a Simpsons reference I can't remember! Need to have a Google
Yep.@@TwoCentsRugby
As an Irishman, I can say the Scots do come across incredibly arrogant only against us.
They always make a point in the media of us being the game they believe they can win .
They always have a few choice words for Ireland and on the pitch it usually ends up in handbags..
Remember in the World Cup when the Scots were frustrated and started fighting and she was thrown over a sponsorboard?
A few years ago, there was a trip on Sexton .
All is fair in love and war though ..
Another easy win on Sunday for us
pom back for his sledging. the Lineout is just the excuse to play him. Irish are battle hardened by the English. Doubt the scots can hold them out for 50 mins .If we are ahead when that bench comes on, its goodnight Irene.
Will be interesting to see how Scotland goes
against Ireland! Great preview
No idea where this idea that the Scott’s are arrogant comes from. Maybe Fin Russell being a bit cocky? But their fans are probably the most reasonable of all 🇮🇪
The arrogant Scots narrative seems only to be pushed by the Irish, even the English don’t really hold it up that much, and more specifically from virgin media sports. Their panel is obsessed with it and it’s insanely weird
Scotland fans are incredibly pessimistic, half of us expected us to lose to Italy last week
Listen to Virgin media it's all Irish saying how arrogant the Scottish are and no one said fuck all your right they made it up
@@calmacmcc6949 On behalf of basically all Irish rugby fans, you can ignore the vast majority of rugby journalism/punditry coming out of Ireland. Sensationalist shite most of the time
Virgin media are the worst then OTB. Regional radio is great,.. Galway etc. RTE are good..but Virgin, FFS
Should be a great game. Hoping I will get to see an Ireland win, as later in the day I will more than likely unfortunately be seeing a Chiefs win as well.
Worst game he`s played , one thing for sure it wont take long to see if M r Fintastic is back or no . I don`t know if the ref has been named , thought Karl Dickson was decent last week he usually is
Mark you messed up the metioning him (james dolemin) not often part lol
Never seen an arrogant scot, when when glasgow warriors won the urc, didnt see much arrogance
Nervous about this one. Scotland just seem to match up poorly to this Irish team, but they owe us one and I think this might be the time they do it
Yeah man they've got some cracking attacking threats, but it never has clicked against Ireland in recent years as it has against some other opponents
@@TwoCentsRugby hope they don't click this time, as id love to keep the 3 in a row dream alive!
There is no such thing as that. There is no cap on the number of wins you can have against another team. It took Ireland 111 years to get a win against NZ. It’s all about who is the better team on the day and we (Ireland) have a probably once in a lifetime chance to win 3 in a row.
It will be interesting without Sexton. He was a huge factor in these games, often making the Scottish stair players look average.
On the Irish media, they were alway arrogant, a small pool of public school guys blowing smoke in eachothers ears. I used to hate the Sunday papers after they'd won in the 1990s best team in the competition etc, they'd go out and get hockied the next week.
Its a bit different now, Leinster has expanded its player pool. But the commentators still can't help themselves, motivating the opposition in the same process.
This is a really aggressive Irish selection , the war god is back to mess with Scottish discipline
If the brilliant Scotland show up, and Ireland are 'normal', I'm picking Scotland to finally do it. But it won't break my heart, lets face it. Scotland can always do a Scotland...
Ireland are rarely 'normal'. They are a consistent winning team.
This game really depends on what Scotland shows up. Generally, yes, Ireland have been too good for them for the best part of a decade, with the Scots only getting I think just the one win in 2017. And when you look at 2023, and when we all thought it would be a very tight and evenly fought game in Edinburgh, it wasn't. Because the Scotland we had assumed would turn up didn't. It's hard to know with them sometimes. Ireland is almost a guarantee.
Does it depend on what Scotland turn up?
@@jmo8934 It does. When you look at the record over the past decade, it's become clear that Ireland has assured dominance over them. The only reason why certain games are close is because Scotland turn up and play. Make it competitive. Some games where they don't, they get blown out. I guarantee you if you walk into any sports betting office and ask what the odds are between both teams, most at least will bet on an Irish win. In order for that to change, Scotland need to turn up, play and win. Ireland have turned up in all of the games they've played against one another in that time period, and even if they don't play their best game, they just have that little extra bit of a spring in their step to be able to win.
The 2 most underachieving teams in WR facing off. I think IRE will find a way considering it isn't a playoff game
Only in RWC. In other competitions, Ireland has a great record.
And the answer is Yes.
What with the nonsense comments about Scots fans being arrogant😮They fierce competitors like every Home nations fans.Hope they cause an upset and get one over the Irish 😅
That game in 2023 was nail-biting. Most of the Irish front row went off injured, and Sheehan and Kelleher. Cian Healy had to play Hooker.
JvdF had to chuck the lineout darts that day - & did pretty damn well too tbf!
Scotland scored 1st. . .then couldn't score again. . .(officials erroneously chalked off an early Ireland try when Scotland messed up a lineout 5m from their own line - Doris was injured in the play too)
It's the players not the Fans, plus the fact the Scottish players decided it was a great idea not too many years ago to hang a rather large Scottish flag off one of the goal posts in Lansdowne Road where they were warming up. The Scottish team were lucky to make it back to the dressing room before the match. Needless to say they got a right good kicking the same day.😘
pish talk
je soutiens l’Écosse
Only arrogance, Irish Media. Love Ireland but their media is more like football...RTE are good though.
Small parts of the media, especially Virgin media which is UK owned. They would sell their granny for clicks.
Where does it come from? Ask Hogg 😂 also look at Calcutta cup 2023, there was a bogg since 2012 🤣
If mean if we're taking Hogg as a barometer of the Scots as a whole we're all pretty f*cked 😅
@ I wish there was a haha reaction 🤣🤣🤣
@ but no the arrogance comes from Finn and Stuart halting the flow and not letting the team get the win. Look at 2020 season to see this as they were woeful but once Gregor made it clear not too they’ve become world class
@@TwoCentsRugby lol
the mans life has fallen apart. we don't know what demons he was dealing with when he made those comments. Hope he sees better days ahead.
O'Mahony is there solo for one purpose, the Scottish players cannot stand him and will be wound up( like every year he plays them) and make mistakes... well that's the plan of course. It's well known in Ireland
Wish both the best of luck, think Ireland by 8 as Scotland owe us 1 but our bench is fantastic and too strong
I think Ireland will win but i'm starting to detest your pundits pish talk it will come round to bite ye
@@calmacmcc6949 The pundits do not speak for us, I can't stand the shite they come out with
