Thanks Mac for bringing up the issue of Black Thugs robbing the "Paisas". Let me elaborate on this issue. A Paisa or Paisano is a word that describes a Mexican or Latin Person who is Born in Mexico and has your typical Mexican look. Meaning clothing, beliefs, culture and typically could only speak Spanish and wouldn't assimilate to the U.S ways. Now the Paisas were easy targets for the blacks to be mugged for their jewelry, belongings and money. Thing was that every Paisa has kids that were being born here or were brought here and they grew up in the hood and knew the rules and lifestyle or their environment. Black Gangster would take advantage of this easy targets and people would start talking about how they got mugged by " El Negro" in Spanish the word Negro is the Color Black, not how is used in the English language to call a person of Color in whatever way is being intended. So, the Paisas would go home and describe what happend to them and the kids would listen. So everyone would know of or would be a victim to being mugged by El Negro. This Shit happened alot back in the 80s and early 90s. I'm talking about Los Angeles were Black people and Mexican people were nearby each other.
In the Mexican culture there is 3 ways to call black folks. Negro, Moreno or Mayate. That’s what I heard as a kid atleast but some also say tinto but it really wasn’t to be racist it was just a way to know who’s who and which race is which in the US. We have words for every race that there is in the US😂
