      Brandon O. Real Talk!! When he spoke of Century drive in, It took me back... I lived across street from the infamous Aku Aku apartments on 102nd and Doty... This was early 80s... Bird was all over LA!!

    whats more better then being 74 years old and remembering all the good things my dad would have been the same age came from Mississippi when he was 13 years old moved to 103rd and watts which is my hometown off 103rd and Stanford i wish my dad was still here unfortunately he passed when i was 13 yrs old im 24 going on 25 july9th he passed july15th i wish he was here 😩💕 RIP POPS

    I use to go too the Bill Robinson theater.....They had ice cream shape like an triangle on a cone...The heck with the movie.....The gang fights was more interesting to an 8 year old.....Slusons...Business man's..20's....outlaws....parks. and pueblos.....All would come there......They sold a candy bar called..Hollywood and big time.....great memories

    Wow I love this one so much Kev this is a good one this man is truly OG instead of all that banging he know the history of South Central LA and Watts I remember a lot of that stuff when I moved to watts. back in 1969. yes and I did bang the grape🍇🍇🍇 card I moved out of the JD's in 1996 but I remember when I moved there in 1969 there was a theater right there on 103rd it was burnt down because of the Watts Riot and also the park was called will Rogers Park that's not Will Rogers anymore its Ted Watkins Park .I remember that stuff as a kid growing up in the hood a lot of it was abandoned then but some of it was still there the old train station its still there that's a landmark on 103rd I know what the triple OG is saying that was the Watts train station I remember all those drive-ins to I used to go to Century Drive-In on Century Boulevard in Inglewood last time I went to that Drive-In was back in 1985 I believe the movie Firestarter and breaking was playing at the theater man that's a long time ago just reminiscing thinking back lot of shit is changed since then but yeah I remember a lot of that stuff I'm a grown man now is been good it was a lot of fun things to do growing up as a kid I used to do the same thing we play jacks marbles and we used to skate on Street King this before they had roller Derby's Wheels LOL XD that was crazy times will you play volleyball all that stuff at the parks I used to go to Centinela Park go swimming Cabrillo Beach a lot of that stuff is gone now but I do have those memories growing up in the hood keep up the good work have your 100 I love this interview so much reminds me of my childhood anyway peace out

    Most history books don't give the black experience, The OOOG's and Big Kev are giving us our History through our elders eyes and lives. This is monumental.     My mom was from dallas texas and my pops was from gardena as a kid we lived on el segundo right across the street from rowley park .i been going bacc and forth from cali to texas basically all my life ..moved to the 30,$ and bam !!!!! The rest was history .i love this one homie .salute to this general ....

      You notice the difference in interviews between the older guys and the younger ones? The brothers in their 60s and older speak much better than the ones in their 20s-50s most of them.

    I'm a gambler,there's this old man I know from the casino who used to be a "Businessman" they fought the Slausons,he told me one night at a Jefferson H.S. Football Game Bird got out the car and yelled "Slausons Bigger Than Shit" he said several guys rushed Bird,stabbed him up,when the paramedics were taking him away on the stretcher,he threw up the Slausons Sign✌✌✌,Lmao😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💯

    The fact that his Father died when was 56, and his mother died when he was 69 is amazing. This is what you call living a full productive life, this how it's suppose be. Not us dying and getting killed in our 20's and 30's. I hope Mr.Bird can read these amazing comments people are leaving about his interview, cause this is what a brother like me strives for a long fully productive life.

    all those theaters in south central back in those days... wasn't all fast food, churches, and mexican stores. i imagine all those places gradually disappeared btwn '65 and '92 riots. a damn shame

    I have the same story as far as the travel. Moms from Texas pops from Mississippi (moved to LB in 61) and met at a house party in the late 60s. We used to hop in the van and travel to the south and Midwest while I was young. I’ve been in ATL for 13 years now. Still love LA!

    Dam, it was a lot of theaters around the Los Angeles area and the surrounding city's back in the day, 2018 and the majority of the theaters wipe out

      L Ragg man, I went to the Drive In off of Artesia & Vermont RIGHT BEFORE IT CLOSED and became a housing community.

      Yeah i was impressed also about that...but we have to remember back in his days there was still a lot of white folks in the area so it woul make sence our part of town had more to do and i bet a hell of a lot nicer...i have an uncle who was around in these days and he tells me LA was real nice back in the day...black and Brown couldnt necessarily go everywhere but you could get away with it everynow and then without getting hassled...

    When someone asks me which theaters I went to, I say the one down the street. He named about 30 and didn't need to break of out a phone book.

    In 1972 i played jacks with some little girls on the street. Yeah thats normal to be able to remember that.
