Gustavo summed it up perfectly in two words... 'We're Free'. Once you have bought into the commercial lifestyle and conventional wisdoms, you slowly lose the ability to emancipate and dictate your own direction. Thank you for sharing such an uplifting message.
What a beautiful couple! Many lessons in this video. Those of us who are discovering who we really are and what we really want realize that money and things are not the answer. We also are drawn to like minded people, people of passion. THIS is what I was looking for when I started on my journey to a simple life! I am learning so much on this channel and will continue to make changes so that I can create the life I want. This video is healing on so many levels.
Wow that was very inspirational. Like Gustavo and Paula, during my younger days I was a very career oriented and I've traveled many countries around the world. I used to love the big city life such as here in Toronto. About a year before the pandemic, I was starting to feel burn out doing the 9-5 routines, dealing with my boss and demanding clients. I wanted to do something different until the pandemic hit and changed the world, while in lockdown I realized that I don't want to live in the city anymore and I am starting to hate winter. I just want to be with nature and live a simple life. I am just giving myself another 2 years to save up. Mexico would be my number one choice.
Thank you for taking the time to make this comment we really appreciate that. I have a video I would like to share with you it will give you a glimpse into our lifestyle. Our story how we save for retirement and what we did. We live like nobody else so today we can live like nobody else. ua-cam.com/video/aVwm4hyKKMM/v-deo.html
I like Gustavo & Paola's story/philosophy. To bypass conventional wisdom, societal expectations, competition, and the herd instinct in favor of introspection, innovation, creativity, art, and exploration....is commendable. Continue to evolve and live life peacefully, happily, and naturally. You only have one and it's short. Good day and God bless.
Thank you for your comment and we would like introduce you to one of their neighbors. Retiring on $300 a month at the Beach in Mexico ua-cam.com/video/SIMQbWudYjk/v-deo.html
Sometimes people re-invent themselves. I know and Artist in P.V. and he was a exec. for a company that advised on Hospital construction and layout, but now he's an artist with his own outlet. It's wonderful to be able to make changes and often that leads to self-actualization. I think Mexico is more free as a culture and you can do things you cannot do in the USA and vise-versa. You learn to do things of value for others and for yourself as well.
Come visit their neighbors house.Lori and I are curious do you think you could live this lifestyle? $150 Small Tiny Home & Farm Beach Mexicoua-cam.com/video/dUK0jaZ8558/v-deo.html
The so-called Law of Attraction notwithstanding, they did reveal that you do have to have money to start out -- "investing" in ourselves, etc. Many people have no money at all to "invest." So much for the Law of Attraction.
This interview should have been #1 because I feel altogether differently about them after watching #2. I like what I’m hearing and seeing. I checked out your website. Sorry for my conventional perception!
Yes, I have seen most of your videos; however, the Spring Break one I haven't seen - I think UA-cam took that one down???? I really appreciate You and Lori, too. I try to learn everything I can about Mexico and I've enjoyed traveling all over Mexico for so many years, too. I have known Puerto Vallarta since it was a very small village and I love it there.
Oh wow! You will be very comfortable because you have the experience of traveling throughout Mexico that's very important most people haven't had that experience.
I think that the new generation of kids now a days aren't listening to the older folks. The stories they have an experiences they've experienced in there life time tell stories of a different time and way of life. I love and respect what they have to offer. The stories and life lessons you can hear and learn are priceless. Also it's good to hear of a younger couple doing things differently to what they perceive as a better life and a different way of doing things like we see in this video. Is this way of life for everyone I say no it's not but if you think it might be take the risk like they did. Were they afraid a bit I think so but one thing I see is they followed there heart and looks like it's working for them. I'd love to retire early and move to a place where most the people in the community were older I just love listening to story's of the older generation and the life lessons you can learn if you just listen.
While at the University, I traveled often to Acapulco - it was a two day drive. Back then Acapulco was a lovely town, but the tourist area and the working man parts of town were separated. Today, everything is jammed together giving it an overdeveloped and cluttered appearance. I decided to go to Puerto Vallarta which was a small village back then - had a great time in PV. I've always made an effort to study countries and cultures, too, I often could talk to people and tell them some of their history - they didn't know, etc.
Dennis thank you for your comment I understand you in in 1972 I travel to Mexico for six months and what a lovely country experience in all the small villages today there are large cities.
We were in route to PV and stopped in Lo de Marcos for a break. Being summer, it was mostly shut down there, but we went to a restaurant this lady started - it was nice and the workers were a lot of fun. They didn't have a machete when my wife asked for a coco, so I brought them one and since I had two I gave one to the young man that worked there - he was very happy. The new one I kept with me and wore it one night under my shirt late at night having had some young guy threaten me with a rock one night when my dog chased him off. I was visiting my local bar where a friend worked late and not many customers. When talking with her and a local guy, the question of security late at night came up, so I whipped out my machete and surprised them, because they didn't know I brought protection. I said "I'm not worried about security - whish, swish". For those infirm, always take a taxi late at night, I'd recommend having known one fellow that was rolled once. This was the Zona Romantica blocks back from the beach.
It is 20 hours driving time at highway speeds to get to Puerto Vallarta area from Nogales, AZ. I have done this many times, but any accidents can delay you, too, because the route from the autopista to PV is very dangerous - we were stuck for hours once due to a serious bus & truck accident head on collision. BE CAREFUL IF YOU DRIVE.
I wanna come! ....I AM going to change my life at 63 I want an adventure. I have many skills and I love people. I love the barter system I love energy philanthropy. The way of the world is changed we go back to the garden.
Fantastic. New subscriber here. If anyone is willing, could you do episodes in your guests homes and communities. I'd really like to witness day by day living and lifestyles.
That's all great, but someone has to pay taxes to fund the services of a normal society. It's almost always the people who don't have the luxury of viewing "time is art" that are paying the vast majority of taxes. We all want freedom, especially those of us who are burdened with paying most of the taxes.
Is it possible for a middle aged white male to just show up down there, and find a living situation? Or would a person who just shows up ultimately be homeless without college degrees? just curious because I am considering moving there but to move there I would have to leave it all behind and go asap. Just curious what my odds would be of survival with nothing lol.
I'm a 62 y/o white female in GA/USA...wanting to know the same thing! I have several college degrees...but they are basically worthless! I would like to get a small travel trailer to live in and pull behind my 2007 Jeep. Have you made any contacts or progress on YOUR dream?
I found Sayulita too crowded and too congested - and hard to park our SUV without totally blocking the street. Maybe it's okay off season, but don't like tourist traps. I'd prefer being somewhere a bit less crowded.
Yes, back when you were in Lo De Marcos, the birded guy that looks so unkept was so very funny - heck, why not get a haircut if it's only 60 pesos or $3.00????? Surely, he could afford THAT.
So right... possesions and money without freedom and happiness is entrapment. Time to cut the cord and flee. These two have done it. Congrats!
