This is one of my favourite records of all time! And one of the most beautiful tunes I’ve ever heard- Robinson Reid has one of the best voices ever too! When I first heard it back in the Summer of ‘87 on The Tony Blackburn Show on Radio London, I thought it was a black woman singing!!!
Not sure if I’m allowed to say this yet, but here we go- we’re writing and producing a comedy TV show set in the mid 1980s with scores of songs from that fantastic era, and this is potentially going to be the opening theme! The title is actually a line from the song too! About time this was heard by the masses, we think……fingers crossed 🤞🏾🤞🏾
Yeah, 80s music in UK was fantastic, cause it was a Caleidoskope of musical genres... You could go from style council to cure, from Iron Maiden to Duran Duran, from culture club to shakin Steven's and they all were on the same charts!!! Nowadays it s impossible to hear so much variety and musical inspiration
@@ACCH-cm9ou So true! Artists sound alike these days, possibly because several of them use the same producers and sometimes even the same songwriting teams.
@@JCesar-xf2bk the record companies are the problem... They went more and more to reduce musical differences in music, releasing only inconsistent music, tbat only serves to dance, without any quality, musical interest, songwriting abilities... Back then there was still place in the charts for acts like this one, next to Stevie Nicks, The Cure, Duran Duran, Depeche mode Bob Dylan, bruce Springsteen, commodores and so many giants of music
@@ACCH-cm9ou So true. I'll also add that the music industry is very ageist nowadays, even though I hate the 'victim' role. However it's true. When Phil Collins embarked on his solo career, he was in his late 30's. Tina Turner made her big come back with 'Let's Stay Together' when she was 44! No one cared, because all that mattered was the music. Today it'd be unthinkable, because it's all about youth. The 007 francise gave Billie Eilish the theme to the last movie! No offense to her, BUT she's so young. She probably didn't even know who James Bond was.
Sometimes you discovered things much later thanks to UA-cam. Not sure if this charted in the States. Thought I recognized the guitarist as Culture Club's Roy Hay
I could kill the editors of this video.. You Don t cut it just before the best part, damn u 😭😭😭😭.. Anyway this is Italy, isn t it? Excellent song, the singer is a real Talent, where s he now????
Should have been a top ten hit, What a Banger! 🎉🎶

Such a classy track from the summer of 87. Love the Toy Hay acoustic guitar and John Reid’s sweet vocals

Quality album, Quality vocals with great arrangement.
Loved the song after watching the music video back in 1988 when I was a teenager!
He sounds like Green Gartside of Scritt Politti. This is a great song on a great album.
yes, but with a much higher voice
Roy Hay 😍😍😍
Thank you so much stchristopher28! I haven't heard this in at least ten years and never seen the video before!!! Both are GLORIOUS xxx
What a pleasant song! It has the same vibe as tracks by Matt Bianco, Double (Swiss duo), Basia and Johnny Hates Jazz.
Sounds a bit like Frankie Beverly & Maze as well
