Your channel is wonderful Max. I think at times of conflict and war the best form of protest is coming together through language learning and refusing to hate. May love flood us all

Oh you two, Max and Julia! I love you. I love your youtube channel, all the subjects, the road trips and my heart is with you. You are in a very delicate situation and I think you are very courageous to open your heart . I have so many friends in Ukraine without houses anymore, or hiding in basement or fighting with what they can find. My heart is with them, not knowing if I will see them again. My heart is also with my friend in Russia who thinks I will hate them. Who are not able to do anything. My heart goes to the older russian, misleaded by tv. To the young soldiers thinking they were doing an exercice, who have been lied to. Thank you for this video. You are great, interesting, courageous, dedicated, open minded, good teacher and very funny. Take care and long live to russian with Max. ~danielle from Montreal

Good luck and thank you!! Watching your videos has really helped me learn Russian while I was living in Uzbekistan. This is a sad and difficult time for Russia and its people...while censorship and propaganda happens in every country, it's particularly startling right now and demonstrates how dangerous it can be when so many lives are at risk. Thanks and godspeed.
Hi Max and Julia! I’d like to know how you’re coping with the situation. Are you back in Moscow? Will you continue your videos? If so, in which way? I appreciate both of you a lot and hope you’ll be able to go on, and make your living.I’ve decided to go on learning Russian because it’s such a big culture though politics has always be awful through history. Happy too to have visited Moscow in December before the war. Please give us news! Thanks for everything.

Thanks for all your wonderful videos, Max and Julia. Before this video your work encouraged me to persist with learning Russian; after watching this, I say a massive 'thank you' for your brave and honest answers. You two are wonderful, true ambassadors for your fellow citizens; I'm sure you've made many friends both in Russia and around the world. Good luck for your futures, whatever may befall!
Love you guys and am praying all is well with you and your families. I just rewatched the proposal video - needed that sort of cheering up. I have Estonian/Russian roots and this just feels like the most surreal nightmare - like the world just unexpectedly and completely changed in the blink of an eye. My heart breaks for both the Ukrainians and the Russians. May something end this soon. Very, very soon.
Max and Julia, the American media all around is making sure to tell everyone that many Russians are against this war, and that Putin is the one responsible. Americans actually have a lot of affection for Russian people ❤️ Thank you for this wonderful video.
Really good to hear that, Liza! Sadly, here in the UK, the media is very hostile to Russia and Russians in general at the moment. But speaking to ordinary people, lots of them have expressed the sentiment that the Russian people should not be blamed for the current conflict. Such a horrific situation for Ukrainians, for Russians, for everyone in the world :(((((
@@themultilingualfamilyhub The problem is that someone is to blame for all the deaths and destruction in Ukraine. Besides the fact that the decision was made by one man, hundreds of thousands of Russians collaborate in this work of destruction. And all my Russian friends, because they are in their forties, ALL of them, voted for Putin. Max with Julia and thousands of other Russians are carrying the consequences of actions they had no influence on, and that's wrong. But the indifference to the evil that politicians cause - is also bad. This indifference and taking care of "just my family, because I have no influence on anything else" - is a typical Russian quote I've heard hundreds of times. The indifference leads to violence. The Russians, unfortunately, like the Americans, have a greater responsibility in electing their president. They elect this president for all of us, in some way. They can decide the war for all of us... The second thing is, that it's too late for anything at this point. All the evil has already happened, mothers will not recover their murdered children, Ukrainian women have already been raped, cities have been turned to ruins. But... where did it begin? For example, from my language partner who lives in the outskirts of Moscow - he was my partner before I found out - who works with his wife as translators at an arms factory. Ah, because "I have to live", right? And "I have three children, you know? Look how cute they are. It is so difficult to find a job for translators near Moscow". Right. All the time we are making decisions. Some of them leave blood on our hands. Who is to blame here? Certainly, the Russian murderers and rapists now operating in Ukraine and calling themselves "the military." But also those who live comfortably in Russia and did not react to the Russian aggression against Georgia, the occupation of Crimea, and the "hybrid war" in Donbas. They did not care that the Russians were bombing civilians in Syria - after all, the Russians had been invited by Assad, right? They were there "legally". I also heard this quote in Russia. I visited Russia three or four times. One of them in order to explain what is happening in Syria to my Russian friends. Who is to blame for this Russian war on Ukraine? I think the translators and secretaries who work in gun factories, as well. And the trolls on the internet as well. They all contribute to the murder and destruction, ultimately. They are in Putin's team. I have Russian and Ukrainian friends, I've been working in Donbas, as a humanitarian worker, doing our projects, for the last few years. Donbas is the area that has been occupied by Russians and pro-Russia Ukrainians separatists. I could see the destruction and instability. I heard the everyday shelling, I saw the lack of services, the poverty caused by the "hybrid war". As I was working in a Russian-speaking area of Ukraine, I decided to polish my Russian. Among other thanks to Navalny and to his channel, thanks to Zelenski and his comic group Kvartal 95, and thanks to Russian and Ukrainian vloggers, such as Max and Julia. I appreciate all the work they've done. I wish them luck. In a better place. The place we will build for ourselves and for our children. Taking responsibility. Saying NO to the war. There are no "fair wars". And every war starts many, many years before. Because of our little selfish approvals and betrayals.
I was shocked when Max was reading the comment which says that all Russian people should go protesting in the street. There is nothing wrong when ordinary people want to avoid arrest, suppression, or persecution. Those who have the bravery to take the risk and protest should be applauded. But those who are afraid of saying anything also deserve sympathy and understanding. Ordinary people are innocent, yet are always harmed.
Also ... apart from all suffering because of war in Ukraine... I feel sorry for all Russians not supporting war who currently are outside Russia. Hope people will be smart and not blame them for what is happening.
This was a courageous video to make, Max and Julia. It gives me hope. I imagine the current situation will not be good for your business - if you ever need help from the other side of the new iron curtain, let me know.
Are you guys ok after your video. I study Russian everyday. You are one of my favorites. I am happy that Max and Julia found each other. It is sad the elite treat us as cattle. I understand many words in Russian, but like a baby I can't speak much YET!
Big respect to you both and to all Russians who oppose the bloody war,be careful please and thank you for sharing your knowledge and opinions, greetings from Belgium ✌️ and stay open-minded and very strong,we are not against the people of Russia but against the war where there is a lot of blame, sincerely continue your right to be heard!!!!
Thank you very much for speaking your thoughts. And you include many aspects. Well done, (so far, I just listened to the first 15 minutes, rest follows later. I understand 60%, Anis).
1. Max and Yulia - two gentle souls! Here, too, it can be seen that the interests of young Russians align with those of young people worldwide. It's just some bald dwarfs who haven't noticed the world has moved on. 2. If Kiev is considered the “mother of Russian cities”, is the attack by the Russian army like beating up your own mother? Thank you for sharing your opinion Max and Yulia!!
Thank you so much for sharing this and for speaking out. Your courage is so inspiring and will help make this world a better place. I hope you are both doing well. ❤️
Dear Max and Yulia, I appreciate your courage and I understand your indignation - no people, wherever they come from, can ever approve of war, which is always a destruction of the innocent and a way for certain elites to make profit (by selling arms etc. …). I’d just like to say that most of the independent, alternative media in Europe point out that the military provocations of the USA and most importantly, their commercial interests (they wanted to sell shale gas to Europe, and Russia was their no.1 concurrent - well now they’ve managed to do it, which is, by the way, an ecological disaster…), their manipulation of the Ukrainian elites (which, by the way, did nothing to respect the Minsk agreement, and apparently really are led by Nazis - yes, literally Nazis, cheering Hitler and so on -, financed by Washington), and their disrespect of the international law (they are in war in the Middle East, in Africa etc., since more than 20 years, then there is also that story of NATOs intervention in Yugoslavia - I mean, they’ve never respected the international law and they’ve never been sanctioned for it, so now Russia does the same - which isn’t cool, of course, but the sanctions show the double standards of the Europeans who are nothing but America’s avant-garde), are the cause of this crises. I’m horrified by the hypocrisy of the West and its medias, who dare to judge this war and diabolise Russia, while in fact, they are as guilty as the Russian government for it, if not even more. Not to mention that they are arming the Ukrainians and helping them to resist (instead of helping with diplomatic dialogue), which only increases the violence and the number of deaths (while at the same time, they call themselves peacemakers and the apostles of democracy). Currently, there is no democratic country in the world. A ‘democratically elected’ candidate in the West is almost always the one who had spent the biggest amount of time in the media space - and 90% of the medias are owned by the 1-2% of the richest people. It’s an autocracy of the rich capitalists (who make money with this war) - it’s just that it’s hidden better than it is in Russia or in China, covered with all these lies about ‘freedom’ (egoism), democracy and peace, an excuse for the USA to make war everywhere but on their own continent, because that suits their market’s interest. It’s naïve to think that the USA only use the soft power to assure their hegemony, and it’s naïve to think that there is more freedom or democracy in the West - it’s all lies and illusions (except maybe for the freedom of speech). I’m just trying to say that USA or Europe are not better then Russia or China in any way - all the imperial states and all violent actions bring us where we are today. Ukraine is just a crystallisation of much bigger problems of our world. The tension between the elites (the leading class) and the people isn’t just Russia’s karma - it’s our worlds destiny and it will eventually lead to the end of our civilization.
Hello Max and Yulia. First congratulations on your recent marriage. And bravo for your courage. Some day if I have time I will write down your dialogue, in order to understand all of it.
May God bless the courageous and brave Russians who protest and stand up against their leaders, who have woefully chosen the path of war.
Thankyou for your excellent lessond! I haave to writr this in Englis because of visuall impairedness. But your dialogue I can easily follow. Here in Finland, we feel great synpathy for Ukrainians. The aktionsart of Putin remind us of 1939, Wien Stalin and Molotov attacked Finland staring the so-called winter war. The prext for the invasion was alleged bombing of Russian territory at Mainila on the Karelian isthmus. I Also with to thank Max and Julia for their courage and sincerety to use the rnes of things, not Orwellian Newspeak. WAR is WAR, not militarismia special operation! Please, overloo the mispellings!
Very very interesting, I did’nt understand everything ( I am french) but here what I understood : Max agreed to say : Russia invaded Ukraine, not the opposite Max and Yulia were asked why they did not go in the streets and manifest to ask for the end of the war, they answered clearly because they would be arrested in the 5 seconds that followed Yulia said that she could see people do it in western countries and asked herself why it couldn’t be done in Russia When Max was asked if he feared Poutine, he clearly said “yes” He mentioned with a smile that the daughter of an Oligarch close to Poutine said “ stop the war” ( we have the same information here) Another thing I understood is that young people in Russia do not watch television, that is to say do not listen to the Russian political propaganda
Thanks Michèle to help me understand a little the vidéo.I’m French too and learning Russian but still a bit lost without subtiles. Of course many Russians do not dare demonstrating because they could be arrested. But it’s deceiving that Poutine seems to be supported by somany Russians.
Hello Max, I love your channel. I am in the US in contact with relatives and close friends in southern Ukraine. I am uncertain if you are getting accurate news in Russia. I am still in contact although it is very difficult. My family is outside Mykolaiv, in a village called Kalinovka. Mykolaiv has been bombed extensively. Much of the cities infrastructure is destroyed, and civilian areas receive shells. A hospital was hit. The village also received a shell and 5 people died. My friends have no heat, intermittent electric, and are in a basement on a mattress. They are very cold and frightened, dirty, where they are hiding has no toilet. They are using a slow cooker to cook, put under a blanket when in bed. The ages are 3 women, 6, 40, 67. There are not Nazis in southern Ukraine, there are 60 year old grandmothers and 80 year old men defending houses. This is not propaganda, this is my life and first hand knowledge. It is brutal attack, being defended by people that love their home. I believe that unless Putin looses power, expect an exchange of nuclear weapons, because I do not see Putin accepting defeat by a much smaller country. I also believe they lost control of the facts, which will create problems as this spirals out of control. I am sorry.
i will not take sides on this issue of war in the ukraine! Opinions are never based on facts!! And, i do not have the facts! My humble opinion is this; Conflict between nations is terrifiying for both sides!! Women and children are usually the most vulnerable victims in any war! I hope in 2023 this conflict will end for the good of the world! Thanks Max, and Julia for speaking on this subject!! Great russian language lesson always!!
I don't feel any anger or sadness - it's not my fault. Yet I blame myself, and others blame me too. BTW this kind of content is really great for learning, because there are two of you and you speak slowly and clearly enough for me to understand. Sometimes Yulya speaks a little fast for me.

Very interesting. In Italy students are very scared and worried about this war. We talk a lot about that at school. Thanks for your video.
Looks like Putin just declared war on the world saying the sanctions was a declaration of war good luck you’re against the world now
Max and Julia, the American media all around is making sure to tell everyone that many Russians are against this war, and that Putin is the one responsible.
Such a horrific situation for Ukrainians, for Russians, for everyone in the world :(((((
@@themultilingualfamilyhub No war! #NoWar (I'm from Russia) )
Please provide English translation, we love you guys and hope that you are well, give peace a chance!
Thank you for this Jula i Max
I hope you guys are okay and I'm impressed you spoke out about this.
I love you guys. You are so courageous!
Also ... apart from all suffering because of war in Ukraine... I feel sorry for all Russians not supporting war who currently are outside Russia. Hope people will be smart and not blame them for what is happening.
I hope you're safe. Thank you! We're working for peace here too. A big hug from Italy.
This was a courageous video to make, Max and Julia. It gives me hope. I imagine the current situation will not be good for your business - if you ever need help from the other side of the new iron curtain, let me know.
Thanks for the video, hope you two are well!
Are you guys ok after your video. I study Russian everyday. You are one of my favorites. I am happy that Max and Julia found each other. It is sad the elite treat us as cattle. I understand many words in Russian, but like a baby I can't speak much YET!
Yes, subtiles here would be very, very useful, as it such an important matter
Z
Thanks so much for your honest (and courageous !) evaluation of this tragic situation!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this and for speaking out. Your courage is so inspiring and will help make this world a better place. I hope you are both doing well. ❤️
Agree and I hope the UK and US citizen rise up one day after countless wars against others.
Thank you for making this live stream!
Do you think there is a cultural clash or cultural conflict going on between Russia and western Europe?
Thank you. I've put my Russian learning efforts on ice since last week. But I gladly made an exception for you.
I love your lessons and applaud your heart.
Sending love Max and Julie ❤️ thank you
Very nice talk. It is a crazy time. We had the same nonsense under Bush 2. I hope we can all survive these leaders.
Eta voina! Thank you beautiful, brave people!
May God bless the courageous and brave Russians who protest and stand up
against their leaders, who have woefully chosen the path of war.
Max, are you able to upload a video to let us know how you and Julia are doing?
Thank you very, very much for your opinion :) I hope, there will be no problems for you
Love you guys!!
Welcome to my channel
"Another Russian"
with russian and any subtleties...
Like it and subscribe, as well.
Thanks!
Very very interesting, I did’nt understand everything ( I am french) but here what I understood :
Max agreed to say : Russia invaded Ukraine, not the opposite
Max and Yulia were asked why they did not go in the streets and manifest to ask for the end of the war, they answered clearly because they would be arrested in the 5 seconds that followed
Yulia said that she could see people do it in western countries and asked herself why it couldn’t be done in Russia
When Max was asked if he feared Poutine, he clearly said “yes”
He mentioned with a smile that the daughter of an Oligarch close to Poutine said “ stop the war” ( we have the same information here)
Another thing I understood is that young people in Russia do not watch television, that is to say do not listen to the Russian political propaganda
Thanks Michèle to help me understand a little the vidéo.I’m French too and learning Russian but still a bit lost without subtiles. Of course many Russians do not dare demonstrating because they could be arrested. But it’s deceiving that Poutine seems to be supported by somany Russians.
Poutine is my favorite French fry dish 😋
I am sorry.
I am very sorry too 😞
I am very very sorry to what is happening to your family and friends and to the Ukrainian people as a whole!
i will not take sides on this issue of war in the ukraine!
Bless you, Ralph, for such great words.
I was sad about It until see that 90% of ukranian soldiers had nazi tattoos.
Thank you for making this video.
Brothers killing each other it brings tears to my eyes 😪
I don't feel any anger or sadness - it's not my fault. Yet I blame myself, and others blame me too. BTW this kind of content is really great for learning, because there are two of you and you speak slowly and clearly enough for me to understand. Sometimes Yulya speaks a little fast for me.
