    Slowly going through all your videos - thanks so much for making them
    I’m a 35 yo with 15 years of chronic pain which has got so much worse in my 30s. I’m desperate to get my life back. I’m battered both physically and mentally
    Thanks again

      @@brandedbutaffordableph5200 I’m the same, possibly worse. I’ve given up. Tried mindbody methods for two years and got zero results. It’s very depressing and hard to accept that I don’t get better.
      Doesn’t mean you can’t though.

    I have a question because you said in your video that there is 2 parts of ANC: sympathetic - fight/flight/freeze and parasympathetic - rest/digest. According to polyvagal theory the freeze response however is part of high dorsal vagal of parasympathetic. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @thepainpt

      Yes thanks familiar with polyvagal. Not conclusive that it’s a separate branch but yes you are correct the freeze response is parasympathetic. It flips from the sympathetic with stress to the parasympathetic. I should have been more clear on this. For simplicity sake I think it’s easy to digest the concept of the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches. What I have found in the research is the large majority of people are stuck in the sympathetic state with chronic stuff With the inability to activate that good calm parasympathetic state.

      @@thepainpt thank you for your reply. I absolutely agree, I have been in a functional freeze all my life and I'm only after discovering it now... it is such a fine line between fight/flight and freeze... I live in chronic pain since forever, therefore I really appreciate your wisdom, knowledge and the videos you share with us. It sheds so much light on this topic and is a massive help. Thank you for everything you do 💜💜💜

    How do we relax? I've tried everything. Yoga was very stressful I didn't like it.

    What is the vagus nerve ?

    • @thepainpt
      @thepainpt  Рік тому

      It is the longest of the cranial nerves in the body running all the way from your brain through your face down into the gut and contain parasympathetic fibers which are your rest and digest part of your nervous system
