  • In this video, Timmy shows you a new and easier way to find and delete files on your Chromebook
A little while ago, Timmy made a video on what you can do if you can't delete files on your Chromebook. If you haven't already watched that, you can watch it here:
    • What To Do If You Can'...
And in that video, Timmy explained that if you have files in the "Recent", "Audio", "Images", or "Videos" Folders of your Chromebook, they will actually be stored somewhere else and you need to find where they are to delete them.
Back then, the only solution was to search for them to try and find them. But since then, there has been a new update to Chrome OS that makes it so much easier to find where your files are, and in this video, Timmy's going to show you this easy new method.

    I FIGURED IT OUT!!☺️
i found both videos helpful and i will be liking them but i have photos that the location says shared with me/third_party and then a bunch of numbers. i saved a photo from google to make my wallpaper and after i made it my wallpaper it duplicated the image and i couldn’t delete the second photo. i found a sharper image for a wallpaper so i saved it and made it my wallpaper and i tried to delete the first original photo and that worked but the duplicate is still there. the second photo i saved has 2 duplicates that i can’t delete because they say shared with me. i tried going to the shared with me folder but they don’t show up there.

Hello Timmy, I have a film (on dentistry!) and have traced it to Shared with Me. Unfortunately when I go there, there is no delete button. Please advise.

    • @techtimewithtimmy
      @techtimewithtimmy  2 роки тому +1

Unfortunately for some reason you can't directly remove "shared with me" files from the Chrome OS files app, you can only do that from the Google Drive website.
If you go to drive.google.com and click on "Shared with me" in the menu on the left hand side of the screen, you should be able to find that video somewhere in there. And from there, you will be able to click on it and click the trash can icon in the top right hand corner to delete it.
Then, once it's deleted from there, it should disappear from the Files app on your Chromebook. (You may have to close and re-open the files app before the video will disappear).
      Hope this helps.

That's strange, that shouldn't really happen. My only suggestion would be to perhaps try installing an app from the Google Play store called Files By Google.
If you are able to find the video somewhere using that app. You should be able to delete it from there. And then it should disappear from the Chrome OS files app.

Oh, someone actually commented on this video a few weeks ago saying they were having the same problem with this app.
It seems this app saves videos to a folder that doesn't appear in the Chrome OS files app.
So it seems you can't delete it while in the Chrome OS files app, but if you go into the Google Play store and install an app called "Files by Google" and open it.
You will then be able to click on "Videos" inside that app, and then you'll see the video from CapCut, and you'll be able to click on it, and then click the trash can icon at the bottom of the screen, and then it will ask if you want to delete the file permanently, and you'll need to click delete. And then if you go back into the Chrome OS files app the video should be gone.
It's rather strange I know, but it worked for the other person so hopefully it will work for you too.

So are you trying to move the videos from the videos folder to a different folder on your Chromebook?
Because if so, you unfortunately won't be able to. The videos folder is not really a normal folder, it just shows all the videos that are on your Chromebook, so if the videos are still located anywhere on your Chromebook or on your Google Drive, they will show up in the videos folder.
The only way to get the videos to not show up in the videos folder, would be to delete them from your Chromebook entirely.

That's strange, that file path doesn't normally exist on a Chromebook.
One thing you might be able to try though is using an app called files by Google.
If you open the play store and search files by Google and install that app and open it, then click on browse in the bottom menu, and then click on "videos" there, you will hopefully find the video you're trying to delete.
And then, if you click on that video to open it, you should then be able to click on the trash can in the menu at the bottom of the screen.
Then, the video will be deleted. So then, you can close the files by Google app (and even delete the app if you like), and you may have to close and re open the Chrome OS files app or possibly even restart your Chromebook for the video to dissapear, but then the video will hopefully no longer be there.
I know this is quite a weird process, but it's the only way I can think of that might work, and it has worked in the past with people trying to delete videos from a certain video editing app, so hopefully it will work for TikTok too.

I've already saved this video on a USB stick so now I want to delete it from my chromebook but every time it says operation failed. I trried deleting the video from the actual KineMaster app and then from the files app on the chromebook but that doesn't work either.

I think the problem is that the video came from an Android app that saves videos to a folder that doesn't appear in the Chrome OS files app.
So you probably can't delete it while in the Chrome OS files app, but if you go into the Google Play store and install an app called "Files by Google" and open it.
You will then be able to click on "Videos" inside that app, and then you'll see the video you're trying to delete, and you'll be able to click on it, and then click the trash can icon at the bottom of the screen, and then it will ask if you want to delete the file permanently, and you'll need to click delete. And then if you go back into the Chrome OS files app the video should be gone.
It's rather strange I know, but it should work and it might be the only way.
