- This was lap one of five on this trip - and my seventh in total.
My goal was to get under 11 minutes BTG this time. On my first visit I did a 11:08, and on the very first lap of this visit I managed this 10:48, which was very satisfying!
This was actually just supposed to my shakedown lap,
but I was very lucky to be one of the first cars out after it opened for tourist drives, late that afternoon.
I had almost no traffic for the first half, which is very unusual in my 60Bhp car, so I just had to go for it.
It was a bit unnerving to go for a good lap time first time round, and as a result my driving is a bit nervous and hectic.
Oh well, I got a new personal best by 20 seconds! and had a very good time doing it!
The car is a 2005 / 168.000km. Fiat panda 1.2 8v with 60 Hp
1055kg including driver and half a tank.
Suspension is original, and it's getting tired.
Tires are 13 year old! Michelin eco 165/65r13 - and they're tired!
The rear seats are taken out, and I have fitted a smaller battery from a lawn mower.
The camera is a sony az1 on the highest quality setting possible 1080p/60 XAVC S

I have the same car but with automatic transmission. I would never think of trying it on a race track! When you take corners in high speed, it always gives you the feeling that it is about to overturn!
There are some corners im affraid of taking faster than 60 km/h in this car😂

Ooooh GOD! I have almost the same mouse-camion :) It's my favourite! It has never let me down so far... I think I will never get to the Nürburgring, so it was a pleasure to see you and your Panda on the ring. WHAT A SPEED FROM IT!!! YEAH ;)
Thank you :) Mouse-camion.... that was a new word for me. Had to look it up. Mine hasn't let me down either, which is so impressive to me, considering I gave it quite some exercises. It may be a small Panda, but it's still strong as a bear ;)

Isn't stock Panda 840? Even with a drive and full tank it should be under a ton
I wish it was, but pandas are not that light a car. 1055kg was the weight when I drove it up on a truck weighbridge, which was just calibrated. My weight was aprox. 100kg, and fuel 35, so 920 kg. car weight. 840 is basemodel kurb weight, without any extras what so ever, hubcaps, electric windows, roof bars, deck shelf, radio and so on - and with such a low weight, I guess it must be with fumes in the tank as well.

I know those are the original tire sizes, but I'm running 165/65r13 (on 5x13 Fiat 850 sport coupe wheels), which makes the gearing a little lower.
Ah ok ! yes the gear of panda is too long for little power that have the car. I have the 69hp version euro5 and "fill" the gears a bit more but fit original 165R14. Howhever I really enjoy with my car with just adjustable coilover and an aftermarket exhaust.
Cool. I could really use the 9 extra horsepower down there ;D I did take out the rear seats, which are very heavy, so that helped. Will you be going to the nurburgring in your Panda?
ahahah , Would be a dream for me but I think that I'll never go to the Nur with any my future car.... is very far by me the circuit and I respect too much the car for bring her so far. Also when the car is a simple Panda. But soon I want go to a circuit near enough from my city, Castelletto di Branduzzo, for test Panda between the curbs :D

I can definitely understand that! The thought has been in my mind a few times as well. Compared to Denmark, cars are much much cheaper too.

How was the engine after the first lap? Temperatures?
Water temp was ok (the fan didn't start). The oil must have been hot, but not overheated I think. The wheelbearings and brakes on the other hand got very hot, and after diassemling the rear drums, i saw the bearings had been so hot that some of the metal turned blue...

What was the top speed? 😊
Around 170 km/h would be my guess. The speedo showed 190 at the bottom of "Fuchs röhre" 4:46. Normally the speedo is 5% optimistic, but my tires at the time were smaller, so It was 8-9% optimistic. The car is supposed to do 155, so 170 isn't too bad - very much down hill of course :)

Not intentional to be honest. They were just some tires I had lying around. They were 165/65r13 - very old, and had zero grip. And yes, they did give more torque, and actually made a much bigger difference to my new tires which are 165/70r13, and made the car feel like it lost 5hp. They had so much more grip though!
