I've just found you. I've been recycling used cards for a zillion years and I was really pleased to see how you do yours. I do things like if there is a door I'll cut it so it opens and put another scene behind or I'll cut out the picture balloons/windows/fireplaces and stick cellophane sweet papers behind. Sometimes I'll cut a card slightly smaller than the cardstock but I'd never thought to use another layer. I like that idea. Thanks for your video
I just found your videos and I really enjoyed this one. You work at your cards much the same as I do. One of the cards you were working on, I was sitting here saying "it's crooked, it's crooked" and finally you noticed it was crooked and fixed it! LOL! When I am working, I can't let things like that go, I have to fix them! I would have used some glitter glue to hide the "let it snow" words but your solution was good too.
You could have added snow with glitter (glitter glue) on the snow in the picture to cover up the Let it Snow words. I would have cut the piece on the bottom past the dark blue border so it was seen all the way around, but that's just my preference. I will use your ideas because I have paper and envelopes to make my own. I am not sure if I will recycle my cards that I received though, because they are sentimental to me from my kids, my parents and my siblings. I enjoyed your video and am excited to get started because I have to make cards for my nieces and nephews for the weekend after New Year's (I didn't buy them for 8), and I picked up some of the small cut pieces in a package at the DT that will look fine as matting. My Grandmother passed away at 96 and my sister had her things because my Gram lived with her, and she had saved many of her cards all those years. I will have to find where I stored them and use those to recycle. I probably have 100 cards from her. Someday I would like to do tutorials as I am a crafter too and I want to share my ideas with others. I can do calligraphy, so I usually write on the back, "Handmade by Charlotte". God Bless You and have a Happy New Year!
last year i made some clear templates to help me size up images and words for my card fronts. i cut out a frame for each popular layer size and then laminated them. i just needed to trim down the lamination and it was done. the clear part inside the frame was the size of the layer needed. i did 4 or 5 different size frames per card size. A2 is my most common but i have other sizes of envelopes so i made one set for each of those. i can't imagine how i made it through all my crafting years without this tool! lol i have tried recycling cards before but am never happy with the results. this year i am watching a lot of videos on how to do it hoping for inspiration and some techniques. thank you for your video. it fulfilled both of the things i was looking for! it's an older video but the techniques are still relevant. thanks again!
I don't stick my tongue out when I'm trying to place layers on my cards--I move my mouth/lips in the direction I want things to go..... LOL! I love the puppies and kitten who are on the sled! They're too cute!!
