You may not be too far off on that theory. My theory is that it was written during the Intertestament period by Jews that inherited some pagan/occultist beliefs back from the time the Jews spent in Babylon. The majority of Apocrypha was written during the intertestamental period and it seems those writings all share in similar themes like fascination with Angels and apocalyptic visions of the future. The bible warns us to take heed of "Jewish Fables" (See Titus 1:14)

The kicker for me is when the book used location names that could not have been known before the flood. Like when it mentions the land of Dan when identifying the geographical location of Mt. Hermon. How could the writer have known the name of one of Patriarch of Israel's son hundreds of years before he was born? Let alone before when his tribes exact land borders were mapped out?

When I was young in the faith, I ate up as much as I could about Prophecy, Angels, and Satanic Cults. There is a sort of fantasy allure to it I think which tends to draw many immature Christians who forsake more basic things of the faith ie. Manifesting the Fruits of the Spirit and following what Jesus said.

@Sincitypreacher Thanks bro Luke! Interestingly enough, the best critique of the book I found on the whole Internet was by our friend Brainouty.
