Every time these guys played, they blew the frick'n doors off the place. A better live band you will never see.
Rob Hirst kills it on the drums. I love his intro. This is an Australian band with a conscience and a message.
Giffo kills it on bass 😁
Watch the whole concert. It’s amazing. Oils on the water. Recorded in 1985 on Sydney harbour as the suns sets.
Pete Gifford on bass. Respect to Bones Hillman (RIP), but he wasn't a patch on Giffo
Back in the 80's in Australia, in any city you could go and see energetic live bands that really kicked ass. The crowds were equally energetic and the crowd and band fed off each other. The talent was amazing and the competition intense. I don't know what happened in the 2000's but it is nothing like that now. Those days are gone.
Used to manage an army disposal store in Chatswood in the 80's and the drummer Rob Hirst is wearing a west German airforce jumpsuit with the sleeves cut off. Sold him a few, very light material because if there's one thing Rob used to do a lot is sweat
I remember a big military disposal store in Sydney ( I think Chatswood) that used to sell a lot of ex-military radio gear, I wonder if it is the same one. I wanted a TRC-75 (I think) mobile HF radio system.
@@Darryl_Frost sounds like a different store mate
Fascinating, I love the Oils, not only are they brilliant musicians. the music and lyrics are really remarkable. Great reaction, check out the death heart. My all time fav
The lead singer later served as a cabinet minister.
Saw the oils about 30 years ago or so at Thebarton theatre Adelaide South Australia. Mum dad and two brothers came out from Essex in 69. They've never looked back.👍🤠🇦🇺💓🇬🇧 I was born in Adelaide.now 53 and go the gunners Arsenal laughing.
One of the best live concerts ever released on video.
Have a look at Mossie at the Enmore. Also excellent.
Maaate! The drummer is the focus!!!
It's da Oils 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥
Peter Garrett is the singer. He is well known for his dancing 🤣🤣🤣
A lot of good songs from these guys 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I can honestly say that I didn't know what I was watching 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@imrmediagaming2479 These guys have been around for a long time. They had a hiatus for awhile when Petter Garrett went into politics for about 10 years in the early 2000s. They are back at it again
@@bazkeenEarly 80's first election I voted in Pete was running for a senate seat with the NDP
I was there...never seen or heard anything like that before or since.
How can you pause this great piece of rock and roll dude 🤬

If you like their bassline,

on Jools Holland.
The band is tight as.
Old oils song when they were at their best imo
You're meandering into an area you may not come out of ....
